Nintendo Memories: Wii U

Kane Bugeja Bayonetta 2 Look! On the store shelves! It’s a Wii! It’s a new controller! It’s an entirely new console with a similar name! And so began the Wii U’s downfall. Which is a shame, because it’s not a bad console, it just had terrible marketing. Still, I have one and I enjoy it, so…that’s something. Though it is still objectively another quirky gameplay gimmick, it is one that…I was going to say “works in theory” but I just realised that I’ve never actively used the gamepad screen for anything. Barring my initial introduction to the system and a Mario hide-and-seek mini game, the Gamepad has more or less served as a large, unexpectedly comfortable controller. The simple fact that it is directly below a player’s normal range of vision prevents it from truly bolstering gameplay as a second screen and its limited range hinders its capabilities as a surrogate main screen, leaving the console as a shell of what it could be, living under the misconception that it is a small addition to …

Reggie Says Nintendo Has Learned From Wii U Mistakes

Let’s be honest here for a minute guys, the Wii U was a bit of a failure for Nintendo. It sold poorly and never really became a mainstream console, forever in the shadow of its predecessor the Wii. There was a lot of reasons for why this happened, a terrible name, lack of third party support, an overconfident Nintendo and above all else a poor marketing campaign that ensured the console was dead on arrival. With all this taken into consideration, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime has claimed that Nintendo has learned from their mistakes with the Wii U and does not seek to repeat history with the Nintendo Switch. Reggie says that Nintendo ‘thought deeply’ on the failure of the Wii U and they feel that they did not communicate to consumers what exactly the Wii U was and what it was capable of doing. In relation to what they learned he says that they are doing things differently with the Switch, claiming that, “Nintendo Switch is a home console you can play …

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is still Wii U Bound

The Switch could not ask for a bigger launch title than The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and that new trailer was absolutely breathtaking. Still, this title did start out as a Wii U game, and with the Wii U being phased out and production slowing down (if not ceasing) the future of the Wii U version was in limbo. Great news for those still wanting that curtain call for their Wii U as the The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will also be landing on the Wii U on the very same day it launches for the Switch on 3 March 2017. This has happened before, as The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess began life as a GameCube title, and then ended up becoming a launch title for the original Wii console in 2006. The GameCube version still released alongside the motion-control enabled Wii version. Nearly a decade later history has repeated itself. Those of us who still want to get that extra mileage out of their Wii U have …

Rare and Expensive Nintendo Gems on the Virtual Console

It’s easy to take video games for granted when they’re on shelves and easily available, but next thing you know that once $10 copy of No More Heroes in the Wii bargain bins is no more! And finding a used copy $40 or so on a random Sunday trip to the mall is considered to be a lucky day. Same goes for video games available for purchase on digital outlets, sure the price never hikes and you can download any given time, but digital games do get delisted (I had no idea that Tetris of all games had been delisted from the eShop due to licensing issues!). Right now you can find some of the rarest and most expensive Nintendo games right at your fingertips on the Virtual Console. In the past you’d have to fork out hundreds, if not close to a thousand, dollars on these games, but thanks to the eShop you can download them right now for mere pocket change. Digital distribution has its blessings for sure. If you’re not fussy about owning …

Straight From E3 2016 – Nintendo Reveals The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild

What do we know about Nintendo’s upcoming video game The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild? Well, we know that it’s been in development since 2013, and that we didn’t see anything of what it has to offer until 2014. We know that it was delayed three times, originally intended to be released in 2015 but now slated for release in 2017. We know that it will feature a new Link, who was a given to appear in this title, albeit in a form that we have never seen before. What’s funny is, until today, we had no idea what this game is called…that is, until Nintendo decided to release several videos of the new project, revealing it to be the game we now know as The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild. This new addition to the long line of The Legend Of Zelda titles looks as though it’s set to take players on a wild journey through a new and exciting land featuring game mechanics reminiscent of older titles in the …

Xenoblade Chronicles X Shows Its Sense Of Humour In New Trailer

Nintendo Of Europe recently posted a brand-new Xenoblade Chronicles X trailer online that shows both the upcoming video game’s quirkiness and it’s more action-packed side. Titled the “Do Something A Bit More Exciting” trailer, the video showcases just how open world the game is and how unique an experience it will be for individual players the world over by highlighting just a few of the features that, previously, weren’t shown. Catching a sleeping enemy monster, going for a dip in the New Los Angeles bay, catching your friends cooking another of your friends; it’s all a possibly in Monolith Soft’s Xenoblade Chronicles X…but then so is slaying said giant monsters, incredible weapon play, and over-the-top mech battles, so…it’s got a little of something for everyone. Xenoblade Chronicles X will get a release for the Wii U across both Europe and North America on the 4th of December. -30-

The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess To Hit The Wii U As HD Remake

Usually I begin articles like this with some sort of preamble, detailing the history of the piece of media in question, but for news regarding The Legend Of Zelda…I don’t think any preamble is necessary. By this point in time, everybody’s very much aware that Nintendo hosted one of their Direct presentations today, using it as a chance to blow the minds of gamers all across the world. As a part of the mind-blowing, Nintendo announced that they will be re-releasing the much-loved Wii title The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess, this time as a HD remake to be released on the Wii U. Set for a release in North America on the 4th of March, the Twilight Princess HD re-release will come bundled with the newly-announced Wolf Link Amiibo which depicts the animalistic form of the Hero Of Time as he was shown in the aforementioned video game. As it turns out, the new game will not only allow the use of this particular Amiibo, but all of the other The Legend Of Zelda …

Mother 3 To Be Re-Released On The Nintendo Wii U…But Only In Japan

The latest Nintendo Direct presentation aired online today and, as usual, announced some new additions to the video game world that have brought many gamers worldwide to tears…or close to it. During the presentation, Nintendo revealed that they plan on re-releasing the Japan-only Earthbound sequel Mother 3, this time on the Wii U through the Virtual Console. Much like that of the game’s original GameBoy Advance release, the re-release seems to be only coming out in Japan…for now, or so many Western fans of the series hope. This news is just one of many that have caused countless people to break down like children, crying into their hands, and praying to the only Gods they know that Mother 3 finally gets a Western release. How do I know this? Well, I’m one of the weeping fans of this much-loved series, and I would give anything to have this Japan-only game make it’s way to local shores. Now you’re probably a little confused if you were one of the many people around the world to have …

Best Buy’s Pre-Order Bonus For Xenoblade Chronicles X Is High On Taste But Low On Nutrition

Most, if not all, video game retailers like to give small gifts as incentive for pre-ordering upcoming games. We call these pre-order bonuses, and they’re usually pretty sweet. Some new titles come with full-sized replicas of in-game weapons, others come with a redeemable voucher that unlocks extra download content for zero the cost. Whatever the case, the extras are usually good enough to entice you into sinking money into a title early. Nintnedo’s upcoming Wii U title, Xenoblade Chronicles X, is an Action/RPG about gigantic mechs fighting grotesque beasts on a planet in the process of being terraformed…so why is it that Best Buy is giving away ten dollar pizza vouchers to those who pre-order the game now? No, you didn’t misread: Best Buys all across North America, as a pre-order incentive, are giving away coupon codes that can only be redeemed through this website: Click Here. Instead of offering players a small figurine, or some extra costumes for characters, Best Buy feels as though the ultimate way to enjoy Xenoblade Chronicles X is by being …

Hands On With Star Fox Zero – EB Expo 2015

“Hey Einstein!” “Do a barrel roll,” and many more wonderful earworms are sure to have burrowed into your brain at the very mention of that most spacefaring of vulpes vulpes, the one and only Fox McCloud. Heck, even I knew those quotes and I’ve never played any of the previous Star Fox titles. As such, my hands on had less to do with nostalgic resurgence, and more to do with the intention of satiating a prolonged curiosity. Blasting off mid-mission, as per the demo norm, Fox and allies are traversing a swerving canyon on their way to rescue a particular canid commander. To that effect, gameplay takes the form of a continuous push forward, with the player controlling direction, speed and the amount of lasers currently being propelled into enemy forces. Of the demo, this was the simplest part to maneuver, with the main obstacle being stationary forces pinned to cliff faces. You don’t even have to defeat them to progress, just survive. The demo’s second portion switched things up a little by placing you …

Nintendo Releases Xenoblade Chronicles X: Survival Guide Episode One

You may not be entirely aware of this but Nintendo will be releasing a series of five videos across the next five months all detailing the most exciting focal points of the upcoming action-RPG Xenoblade Chronicles X. It’s now the 1st of September which means the very first of this short series has just been released online. I honestly don’t know too much about this title. I’ve been excited about it for a while simply because it’s a Wii U game that doesn’t revolve itself around already established Nintendo characters and that’s basically all I need nowadays to get excited. This new series of short, information-filled promotional videos has been perfectly designed to educate people like myself who’re interested in the game yet not so sure about why they should absolutely get it on release. Episode one details three key features of the upcoming title: The world of the game, the organisation your character will be a part of, and the types of missions you’ll take on throughout the game. To say the very least; there’s …

Shovel Knight Amiibo Announced Thanks To Leak Courtesy Of GAME Brighton

We all know what Shovel Knight is. Even if you’re someone like me who hasn’t played it, it’s kind of hard not to know about this hugely-popular indie platforming title which has just risen to an incredible level of worldwide fame thanks to, well…who the heck knows. I just suppose it goes to show that if you make a good enough game, people will indeed play it. The game has recently been picked up by Nintendo for a release on both the 3DS and Wii U, and like most Nintendo titles it has now received it’s very own Amiibo…which has been accidentally leaked thanks to a UK GAME store’s website. Yes, the GAME in Brighton over in the United Kingdom Tweeted from their official account that Nintendo have just announced a Shovel Knight Amiibo that already has a release date, that being the 27th of November this year. Not long after this mishap, the GAME store deleted the Tweet and made no statement to rectify what they had done, choosing to instead sweep it under …

Crash landing – Nintendo Announces And Releases EarthBound Beginnings For The Wii U

Coming straight out of left field is another one of Nintendo’s pre-E3 announcements, this time of a classic video game title never released outside of Japan…until now. One of the few video games that possessed me to buy myself a Wii U console was none other than Earthbound. It, alongside games like Mega Man Battle Network and Splatoon, justified paying full price for a console I didn’t even know I’d enjoy…well I’m even more delighted now that Nintendo and video game industry great Shigesato Itoi have announced that they have now released the original Mother game on the Wii U Virtual Console in both Europe and North America. Both announced and released on the same day, the newly titled EarthBound Beginnings is a direct port of the fantastic RPG from twenty six years ago but now in full English. For the first time legally, players from outside of Japan will be able to finally experience the journey of Earth’s original psychic saviour Ninten. They can then follow their playthrough of EarthBound Beginnings with EarthBound, both of …

Leaked Videos Confirm Roy And Ryu As Upcoming Playable Characters In Super Smash Bros. For Wii U And 3DS

The Electronic Entertainment Expo, also known as E3, is coming up and with the large event comes a whole bunch of exciting video game news from across the board. Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, they all bring their best to the yearly exhibition which means they usually save the very best news to release it when the whole gaming world is watching, but no company is safe from leaks and the general gaming audience loves it when a huge piece of news drops before scheduled time. Two short videos have now begun circulating the web which show both Ryu from Capcom’s incredibly popular fighting series Street Fighter and Roy from Intelligent Systems‘ famed RPG Fire Emblem going head-to-head with the already sizeable cast of the new Super Smash Bros. title which has been available for the Nintendo Wii U and 3DS for quite some time. These videos have come about thanks to the early release of the game’s next big update which has now been made available in Japan…not on purpose, of course. As with any added content, the …

Splatoon – Review

Guess what? It turns out those scientist were right; Global Warming is actually a thing…who would’ve thought…right? So a few thousand years from now a bunch of ice around the Earth is going to start to melt and that’s going to cause the oceans to rise or something along those lines. Do remember; our planet is something like seventy percent water so us land-dwellers are already close to being “drowned out“, excuse my unnecessary but well-placed pun. It sucks pretty hard when you think about the human race drowning, but there IS something called evolution that has worked before and dammit I think it’ll work again. Now that the planet is mostly water, aquatic creatures begin to change and move up onto whatever land is left over just to see what all the fuss is about. Squids begin changing into half-human hybrids and, for some reason, Octopi followed suit. Neither of them like the other and seeing as they’re the most advanced creatures on the planet Earth of course they resort to violence to sort …

Calling For Backup – Masahiro Anbe’s Squid Girl Joins Splatoon As Free DLC

There has already been so much fan art crossing over Masahiro Anbe’s Squid Girl with Nintendo’s latest and greatest IP title Splatoon. The need for these two properties to come together is so strong that Masahiro Anbe himself has already illustrated his fair share of fanart, most notably one that appeared in Shonen Champion Magazine. It helps that he too is a huge fan of the new third-person shooter, so it’s only natural that he’d jump on board with the whole Squid Girl X Splatoon campaign. Well it seems as though all the references and drawings have paid off because Nintendo have announced that Japan will be soon getting some free DLC containing equip-able pieces very much inspired by the very popular Manga and Anime series. Next month will see the release of this DLC but despite it being so close to dropping Nintendo still havn’t detailed what exactly the pieces are going to look like. The educated assumption would be that players will be given the Squid-like hat, long white dress, and the matching shoes of …

Mighty Things, Small Packages – Mighty No. 9 Signature Edition Announced

Overnight, Comcept and Deep Silver who’re now the publishers of Keiji Inafune’s attempt to revive Mega Man announced an interesting special edition pack for their upcoming title Mighty No. 9. For the longest time we had heard no word regarding this modern day side-scroller and then all of the sudden we’re given this; the Mighty No. 9 – Signature Edition which comes packed with a copy of the vidro game, a 6.5 inch figurine of Beck himself, and a replica of Keiji Inafune’s signature which will be placed on the box of the pack. The most exciting feature of this Signature Edition would have to be the posable figure of Beck which not only stands at a pretty nice 6.5 inches tall, as mentioned, but also comes with three interchangeable faceplates to match your mood. The awesome thing about this edition as a whole is that it will only set buyers back about $60, but you’ll have to investigatw local video game retailers just to make. Prices change all over the world. The price of …

The Great Splatoon Heist Of 2015 – Shipment Of New Title Stolen Before Reaching UK Retailer

When you’ve been waiting for a video game as long as a lot of us have been waiting for Splatoon, you tend to get a little crazy with excitement and anticipation. Most gamers will trust that their pre-orders will be fulfilled on the day of release but certain individuals, me included, tend to worry a little bit as the day gets closer. Though not usually the case, it’s thoughts of inability to provide that which we’ve already paid for that plagues our thoughts. In the UK, this worry is all too real for those who have pre-ordered the Splatoon + Squid Inkling Amiibo pack from certain Game stores seeing as, well…shipments of it have been stolen. A truck containing a huge quantity of this item has gone missing between Nintendo’s European warehouse and many Game stores across the UK, sending the game-loving population across the sovereign state into a frenzy. Nintendo has already made their first statement: “We regret to inform you that the lorry transporting the Splatoon stock from Nintendo’s European warehouse to Game …

Hands-On With The Splatoon Global Testfire Demo

Having only had the Nintendo Wii U for maybe a month at this point in time, I still find myself not used to the flashing of the home button on the system’s controller. It usually wakes me up from my sleep and forces me to begrudgingly turn the system on just so I can turn it straight back off out of frustration. There has really only been two times wherein which the flashing has alerted me to something that I actually care about: The first is when Mewtwo was released as a playable character for the new Super Smash Bros., and the second time is when the Splatoon Global Testfire demo got released…that was today (the day of writing this article). I first played Splatoon at Australia’s own EB Expo a year ago and I immediately fell in love. In fact, the main reason I bought myself a Wii U was to solely play Splatoon, but as usual that quickly changed when I remembered Virtual Console titles like Earthbound and Megaman Battle Network were available. …

“Earthbound” Breaks Reality – Club Nintendo Labels Digital Copies “Sold Out”

This is something I’m not sure has ever happened before. We all know what “Earthbound” is right? It’s that ground-breaking adventure/RPG starring four children with psychic abilities who’re on a journey to defeat a reality-defying alien creature hell bent on swallowing up the world…Ness? Do you know Ness? He’s the hat-wearing, blue and yellow shirt-having, baseball bat swinging kid from that series of Nintendo fighting games “Super Smash Bros.”. Surely you know him. I’m going to assume that you know him. Well the game that he’s from, “Earthbound”, hasn’t been physically around for a very long time with remaining copies of the original Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) cartridges selling for way more than you can afford online. It did get a release on the GameBoy Advanced over in Japan but never here in the West and that made many fans of the cult classic very, very upset. Skip to 2013, the game finally gets a secondary Western release, this time for the Wii U through the Nintendo eShop. The world, once again, rejoices! Skip, again, to …

Rodea: The Sky Soldier – European Release Date Announced

There’s something so exciting about the open sky. Humans, without the aid of high-powered machinery, have never been able to soar through the vast openness of the sky. We have always dreamed of being able to lift off the ground and, with our own spirit and will, be able to glide through the clouds like birds. At least, I know this of myself. I mean, surely we all think about this time and time again? People like me turn to things like movies and video games to try and, for just one moment, experience the feeling of free flight and it is games like “Rodea: The Sky Soldier” that really get the feeling right. NIS America have today announced the official European release date for the upcoming Wii U and 3DS action/adventure game, and it’s coming sooner than we think! September the 25th is the day that this mighty video game will hit shelves and on that day the masses will celebrate. Look, I know September isn’t as close as I made it seem BUT, …

Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem Gets Its First Ever Full Trailer

It was revealed a while back that Nintendo and Atlus have been working on a crossover title for the Wii U simply titled “Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem” but soon after it’s announcement it was forced back into the shadows wherein which it has laid in wait…until today. As part of April’s Nintendo Direct Presentation, the video game industry juggernaut debuted the very first trailer for the upcoming game that shows audiences not only the setting of it but the style in which it’ll be developed. With pop art-style graphics and what looks to be a very “Shin Megami Tensai” set of gameplay mechanics, this trailer shocked many who thought this game would be dark-ish in a similar fashion to the series of games that takes precedence over the new one’s title. It looks to be set in Shibuya, an area of Tokyo, and the protagonists seem to be of a schooling age. Despite what it is that we’ve been shown, this game is still mostly a mystery. Apparently the characters all lead normal …

Nintendo Reveals “Splatoon” Amiibo, Ranked Battle and New 1-On-1 Game Mode

“Splatoon” is just one of those Nintendo originals that grabs audiences by their hearts and minds and just forces them to fall in love with it. It happened to me, and I’m a cynical old man that cares for nothing! I originally played the game at one of Australia’s EB Games Expos and it immediately stole my heart. Since then I’ve been more than in love with the game and April’s Nintendo Direct Presentation which has just ended has made me want to do nothing but go out and purchase a Wii U just for this game. Let’s think about what we’ve been told about the game so far: You play as an Inkling who is half human half squid, your natural-born enemies are the “Octopus Army”, you fighting using paint-dispensing weapons and friend can quickly become enemies when they’re put on a team that isn’t yours. Basically, “Splatoon” is looking to be a third-person shooter that will out do every video game in the genre that has come before it. With an incredible-looking multiplayer …

Is “Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate” Really Coming To The Wii U Or Is This Just Another April Fool’s Hoax?

Today IS April Fool’s Day which ultimately means that anything you hear about, read about or are simply told about could possibly be just one huge lie. This is fantastic for those of us who report on Pop Culture news because it means that, chances are, on this day we’re more than likely totally wrong about everything we spend time writing about. April First is a day of pranks and laughs but it’s also a day of broken hopes and dreams. Why say all this? Well, to cover my own arse if I’m being entirely honest. There’s nothing more unforgivable than unreliable information delivered as God’s honest truth so in an attempt to close the gap between me, the article writer, and you, the reader, I have said what I have said. Now onto the actual news: A little image has surfaced today that could possibly mean the arrival of “Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate” to the Wii U. This image, which you can see to your left, is a crude photograph of what looks to be …

Rodea The Sky Soldier – Original Wii Came To Come Bundled With Wii U Version

This quite an odd but very much exciting addition to the upcoming release of NIS America’s “Rodea The Sky Soldier” that sees the Wii U game come paired with the original version designed specifically for the older Nintendo console the Wii. Yes, first-run copies of “Rodea The Sky Soldier” for the Wii U will be sold with a complementary version of the original game that, as NIS America states, is actually very much different from the version you’ll play on the newer Nintendo console. Players will be able to see the growth of the IP across the Wii and Wii U by being able to experience both version of the same game. What makes this even more exciting is that the Wii version was never released. Fantastically, this pairing has been announced for not only North America but for Europe as well! Usually this means it will also be made available across Australia and New Zealand but there’s been no confirmation on that as of yet so simply take this as educated speculation. “Rodea The …

Snap Play: “Advance Wars” Episode 04

We here at SnapThirty pride ourselves on never forgetting the things that lead us to be the fine young writers we are today. Our passion for Japanese Pop Culture was given birth many years ago during the times of our childhood and each day we try our very best to thank the video games, the Anime, the Manga and everything else from our pasts for simply being able to experience them. “Advance Wars” was one of the very first tactical role-playing games I ever laid eyes on and within but one mission I was hooked. I’d be in constant possession of my Game Boy Advanced whether I was at school, out with my parents, at a friends house and everywhere in between. The chance to play another round of “Advance Wars” would never pass me by simply because I was always prepared. Even though my young brain couldn’t fully understand each and every single gameplay mechanic, I still had the time of my life and now at the ripe old age of twenty I’ve decided to …

Nintendo Announces A Rough Release Date For “Splatoon”

Despite the fact that I do not own a Wii U, it is the game “Splatoon” that has me considering investing some money in the much-loved console. At the 2014 Eb Games Expo in Australia, Luke Halliday and I got to play the demo of this game and it swept me away. You can read my write-up here. The colours, the characters, the overall concept. I was very much “taken” by this game and so it prides me to be able to write about it whenever I can. Nintendo announced last night through their Nintendo Direct video presentation that the original IP “Splatoon” will be getting a worldwide release sometime this May. Nintendo have gotten very good at simultaneous releases in different countries as of late and it seems as though they’ll be employing the same strategy here with “Splatoon”. Also revealed was a new in-game feature for “Splatoon” called the “Central Hub”. This is, basically, the place you’ll head to before you head anywhere else…like any “Hub”. From here you’ll be able to see …

Hyrule Warriors – Tingle And Young Link Announced As New Character Additions

Why? Just…why? Ugh. So Nintendo, through their video presentation last night, have announced a whole bunch of new things for 2015 but none more disappointing than…Tingle appearing in the “Dynasty Warriors”-style action video game “Hyrule Warriors”. All of the news that came out of Nintendo Direct’s presentation last night has excited me beyond all belief but having to write about Tingle, the worlds most hated “Legend of Zelda” character, has really started to bum me out…Luckily I get the chance to also talk about the addition of Young Link who will also be making his way to “Hyrule Warriors” alongside a new Adventure Map thanks to a “Majora’s Mask”-themed DLC pack that is set for a release on the 5th of February! The new pack will be selling for $7.99 in North America so expect inflation or deflation depending on where in the world you are. This pack looks pretty cool as long as you totally disregard the forty year old fairy-wannabe and his uncomfortably “snug” leotard. Instead, give all the attention to Young Link; the …

Nintendo Announces The Next Wave Of Amiibo Intractable Figures

Last night the first Nintendo Direct presentation of the year aired and with it came some fantastic news that has indicated to as all that 2015 may truly be another ripper of a year for Nintendo. Not that anyone truly thought differently. The Amiibo craze has picked up heavily around the world with most, if not all, players of the new “Super Smash Bro.” literally sprinting out of their houses to grab themselves a figure of their favorite character. Too bad Nintendo has chosen to spot production on certain characters which has now made them extremely hard to find. Heading down to the local store the only characters purchasable now are Mario and Luigi so as soon as you read the news I’m about to type, I suggest you begin making preparations for how you’re going to grab yourself the figures from this new batch. You’re not going to want to miss out. Hitting shelves on April the 24th in Europe and Japan on April the 29th is the next wave of Amiibo figures which …

Super Smash Bros. For The Wii U Will Be Heading To Australia and Europe Early

Here’s some good news for a Monday morning; over the weekend Nintendo Australia reveal to the world that the upcoming Wii U release of the brand-new ‘Super Smash Bros.’ title will be coming to Australia and Europe a little earlier than originally planned. Initially announced to be hitting local shelves in both Australia and Europe in the early days of December, the highly-anticipated brawler title will now be made available to purchase on the 28th of THIS month with the digital version being released on the 29th. It’s only a slight date change but I don’t think that makes it any less exciting. If there’s one thing video game audiences love it’s an early release and I can’t think of a better game to deliver to gamers early. Everything else regarding the Australian And European release will stay the same. I’m, of course, referring to any special editions of the game you can purchase and things of that caliber. It is strictly the release date that has changed. Head into your local video game retailer, …

Super Smash Bros. For Wii U – 50-Fact Extravaganza Video

Guys! Girls! ‘Super Smash Bros. For The Wii U is only a month away! Yeehaw! I don’t even have a Wii U and I’m still excited for this upcoming game but that’s just because I have the spare keys to my friend’s houses and can get to their consoles at any time, just…don’t tell them. OK? To celebrate the game to come, Nintendo hosted another one of its much-loved streams. This stream was extremely exciting because it is where the company would reveal 50 facts about the Wii U version of the game that fans didn’t already know. Unfortunately, because it was a live stream, some people around the world didn’t get a chance to watch it but that’s OK because Nintendo have done the world another huge solid and released the video for everyone to watch whenever and wherever they’d like. Yosha! Now Nintendo covered a lot in this stream and it went for a full half hour so sit back, relax, maybe make yourself a cup of coffee and enjoy what is to …

Super Smash Bros. For The Wii U – Official Release Dates Revealed

Barely a week after the release of ‘Super Smash Bros. For The 3DS’, a game that was met with what I’d consider global elation, Nintendo have announced the official release dates for the upcoming console version of the game which has been similarly titled ‘Super Smash Bros. For The Wii U’. Featuring high definition graphics and certain exclusives not featured in the 3DS version of the game, ‘Super Smash Bros. For The Wii U’ is arguably one of this years most anticipated Wii U titles and it’ll be hitting local shelves around the world before the end of the year. North America will be getting the Wii U version first on the 21st of November with Europe and Japan getting it on the 5th and 6th of December respectively. What makes this announcement even better is that Nintendo also gave the world some information regarding regional bundles that can be purchased. North American gamers can purchase ‘SSB’ in a bundle that comes with a Gamecube controller and an adapter. European gamers can purchase two different …

Hands On With Splatoon – EB Expo 2014

Nintendo, by far, had the best booth at this years EB Expo. It featured games like ‘Super Smash Bros For 3DS’, ‘Super Smash Bros. For Wii U’, ‘Sonic Boom: Rise Of Lyric’, ‘Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker’ and so much more that, in my opinion, really outshined the rest. The biggest game there was supposed to be the brand-new ‘Super Smash Bros.’ but, thanks to a clashing release date, people didn’t necessarily have a need to line up to play for five minutes when they could just as easily have bought their very own copy before arriving, much like what we at SnapThirty did. This did not end as negetively as you would think, people still enjoyed playing the game with each other but something that was more exciting to me is that people were paying more attention to the other games at the booth. One in particular and the one in the title of this article is ‘Splatoon’; an upcoming video game that had not been on my radar at all…until now. Luke and I …

Super Smash Bros. For 3DS and Wii U – Let’s Check Out The Full Roster

Today started off really well, reader. I woke up, I had myself a coffee and some toast, I started answering e-mails and then I remembered that Japan will be getting the new ‘Super Smash Bros.’ game for the 3DS on Saturday…yeah, what a way to wreck what would have been a nice morning. Don’t get me wrong; I love Japan and the Japanese people, my gripe comes from the deep and violent jealousy I feel because they’ll be getting the new ‘Smash Bros.’ a month before everyone else. I thought I was a grown up and I could wait for things like video games but it turns out when it comes to titles like this…I want to be the first to have it. Putting my petty  envy aside, the real point of this article is to detail the leaked character roster image which has come straight from an unknown Japanese gamer who has managed to get themselves an early copy of the game. Not only that, they have also already finished the game and unlocked …

The Demon King Returns To the Battlefield! Ganondorf Announced For “Hyrule Warriors”

Let’s be honest here, reader; we never really thought Ganondorf WOULDN’T make an appearance for the new game did we? No, I didn’t think so! If the ‘Hero of Time’ is given a chance to slice and dice up the battlefield than so should his eternal nemesis. Today, during the latest ‘Nintendo Direct’ episode stream, Tecmo Koei announced through a wonderfully dark character trailer that Ganondorf will be one of the playable characters in the upcoming ‘Legend of Zelda’ spin-off title ‘Hyrule Warriors’. This comes as some welcome news to fans of the franchise who have been itching to tear up hordes of enemies using nothing but the powers of all-encompassing darkness! Now it is true, Ganondorf does look a little different. Even somewhat strange with his long, luxurious hair but something that was also announced alongside his appearance in the game is that he’ll have a couple of costumes to switch in and out of that may make him look a little more similar to how you remember him. Both the ‘Ocarina of Time’ …

“Hyrule Warriors” Character Recap Trailer Released

Here’s something to think about, reader: I, as a man who writes about things like video games all the time, sometimes find it hard to keep up to date with every single information update regarding new titles, especially in this day and age where developers and publishers are more than happy to bombard us with as many screenshots and gameplay trailers as possible. Though, as a writer, my job is to scour the internet and catch up on everything I possibly can before moving on to something else. Tecmo Koei games have, over the weekend, done people like me a serious solid with the release of a new ‘Hyrule Warriors’ trailer that actually compresses each and every one of the character introduction/spotlight videos into one awesome piece of ‘Legend of Zelda’ footage that will both bring you up to date on all the characters that will feature in the game as well as making you immeasurable excited for the pure awesomeness to come! Link, Zelda, Impa, Midna, Lana, Agitha, Fi, Ruto, Darunia and Sheik, the …

Multiplayer “Tag Climax Mode” Announced For Bayonetta 2

Playing games alone can be pretty…lonely. It is even worse when the video game you’re playing happens to be one of the best to ever grace the industry! It’s like torture not being able to actively share the experience with a friend. Torture, I say! It delights me to bring you the news that Platinum has today revealed that there will be a co-op/multiplayer mode in their upcoming video game sequel ‘Bayonetta 2’ where you and a friend can team up to fight hordes of enemies or some seriously powerful boss-types. This feature titled ‘Tag Climax’ Mode’ will allow you to choose from a whole bunch of environments and battles from the game’s story to play on with a friend but you must first reach the points of those particular environments and battles on your own before they become available to play as a duo. This is the same for characters, weapons and equipable accessories. Basically the more into the story you are, the more you can do in multiplayer mode. Each stage, which are …

“Mega Man Battle Network” Wii U Release Date Revealed

Megaman.EXE is absolutely a program I’d love to have on my personal computer but, unfortunately, something that amazing has yet to have been developed though I’m hoping that some sort of P.E.T-style device will be put out on the market sometime in the near future. Now if you have no idea what I’m talking about, that’s ok, it just means you’re not a fan of the surprisingly highly-popular ‘Mega Man’ spinoff video game series ‘Battle Network’. This series takes ‘Mega Man’ and makes it entirely digital in ways somewhat reminiscent of the ‘Digimon’ franchise. Unlike the original line of ‘Mega Man’ titles, this series of GameBoy Advanced/Nintendo DS games this follows a version of Mega Man who isn’t quite a robot boy but he IS a pivotal part of a wave of futuristic technology that is sweeping the world. So in some ways he’s the same old Mega Man, just with a new twist. Follow the story of Lan, a young boy who must fight the forces of WWW (World Three) in order to save …

“Hyrule Warriors” – Second Princess Zelda Trailer Released

The lovely princess is back in all her kick-arse glory! Tecmo Koei has today released another Zelda-centric character trailer for their upcoming Wii U exclusive ‘Hyrule Warriors’ and I must say she is looking damn fierce! The difference between this trailer and the last? Well did the glamorous princess wield the ‘Wind Waker’ in the last trailer? No, I didn’t think so, but she does in this one! Take control of the wind as you slice your way through hordes of enemies with Princess Zelda, the lovely heroine that is ultimately as cool and powerful as the hero Link. That doesn’t surprise me though, the game IS named after her so really she should be the best out of all the characters. The new trailer shows off all her moves as she dishes out some smack down to all the canon fodder standing in her way. It goes for about a minute and a half and is sure to scratch your ‘Hyrule Warriors’ itch. The game is set for a release in Japan on the …
