Hands-On With Tekken 7 at MadFest 2016

For many fighting game fans there are two mega series that will duke it out for all of eternity, Tekken and Street Fighter. Both play differently and feature vastly different characters and worlds, but at their heart they embody the same spirit: the spirit of fighting. While Street Fighter has chosen to update itself countless times over with 5 main series games under its belt, Tekken has moved onto the next battle and putting all upgrades into a brand new full title with soon to be 7 games to its name. At MadFest 2016 we were able to get our hands on the upcoming installment of the iconic fighting game franchise thanks to Bandai Namco’s preview booth at the event. The demo didn’t feature a lot of different modes but we did get to try out the arcade mode and VS mode. We did however notice there was a story mode of some kind that will no doubt play a big role in the finished game. When I jumped into the arcade mode I immediately …

Here Comes The Bride – Nina Williams Returns For Tekken 7: Fated Retribution

With fighting game continuations such as Tekken 7: Fated Retribution, fans of the long-running series always worry about the updated roster. Often, a developer will keep all the characters that the fans have come to know and love while throwing in others for the sake of variance. Occasionally, a developer will forget about fan favorite characters for reasons unbeknownst to us, but in the case of Tekken 7: Fated Retribution it seems as though Bandai Namco Entertainment truly know what it is that it’s audience wants the most. Announced a while back, Tekken 7: Fated Retribution is, incase you can’t already tell, the next addition to the long line of Tekken video games to hit both arcades and home consoles. Like every other new iteration of the game; Tekken 7 boasts well-tuned gameplay mechanics, incredibly high-calibre visuals, and the return of many series staple characters…like Nina Williams who has today been revealed as a returning fighter to the King Of Iron Fist Tournament that stands, somewhat, as the core of the Tekken series of fighting games. …

Street Fighter’s Akuma To Be A Playable Character In Tekken 7: Fated Retribution

Characters crossing over between Tekken and Street Fighter is something that has actually happened a fair few times in the past. Hell, there was even a game that brought both fighting titles together, so it’s not crazy to think that a Street Fighter character would be featured in the recently announced arcade followup title Tekken 7: Fated Retribution. The very first trailer for the new edition of Tekken 7 has just been posted online courtesy of Bandai Namco Entertainment and it just so happens to feature Street Fighter’s Akuma who must, apparently, defeat Heihachi Mishima before he destroys the world…seeing as nobody else can. It’s far to say that, out of any character, Akuma being the one to take down Heihachi is quite fitting, I mean…he’s the embodiment of all evil, and also the “Supreme Master Of The Fist”. As of right now, nothing has been said regarding the specific date of this arcade title’s release, nor whether or not it will be hitting home consoles anytime soon, but it is unlike Bandai Namco Entertainment …

Better Late than Never – Tekken 7 Heading to PS4

Fans of battle and side oriented cameras rejoice! The long standing franchise known as Tekken is bringing its seventh installment to the home, if you own a PS4 that is. Launched for Japanese arcades way back in February 2015, skepticism was certainly a prevalent attitude regarding export…or it wasn’t. Really depends on your personal perception, metaphorical glasses, how full/empty they are. All that existential jazz. Back on topic, the Unreal 4 Engine using, 1v1 combat having, Mishima Zaibatsu/G Corporation conflict ending game is as of yet sans release date, though Project Tekken Leader Katsuhiro Harada has stated, “It’s coming. I told you to wait!” So yeah, you are officially obligated to hold your excitement. Hervé Hoerdt (VP of Marketing & Digital at Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe) took a slightly more verbose route, stating: “For its 20th Anniversary, our Tekken brand has seen a massive success on Arcades thanks to Tekken 7, but also on mobile gaming with Tekken Card Tournament. Our wish is to pursue this successful route and explore new opportunities with the game’s arrival on …

New Character Gigas Added To The Tekken 7 Cast

As with any new fighting video game release comes the addition of some brand-new characters. Tekken 7, the latest in the long-running series, has recently been released around Japanese arcades and the new characters that are coming out of it seem to only be causing a great deal of controversy. It’s not that there are any bad things about these characters, it’s just that fans of the series cannot get a grasp on exactly why they belong in the series. I don’t see the issue with these new characters but I believe I’m one of the minority when it comes to this. The latest character to be revealed for the new gaming is a hulking red being called Gigas that, well…I don’t really know what it is. I don’t think anyone knows what it is. I’m not sure we should ever know what the hell this thing is. What I DO know is that it’s damn scary looking and that I wouldn’t want to go up against it in battle. Bandai Namco Games revealed this …

Like Father, Like Son – Tekken 7’s Opening Cinematic Revealed

It is the video game series’ like “Tekken” that don’t really need a lot of this post-release promotion simply because, over the years, it has proven to countless fans the world over that when it comes to fighting games the team behind the much loved arcade fighter know exactly what it is they’re doing. If Bandai Namco Games really wanted to, they could scrap publicity for the game entirely and still be assured that all if not most of the existing fans of the series WILL purchase the new release. Them alongside a whole bunch of new fans that will always jump onboard at the site of a new game. That’s why it’s all the more sweeter when the world is delivered something like this; the opening cinematic for the upcoming game. While it doesn’t actually give us anymore information on the innards of the game itself, it does do well to raise hype and pump us up for one hell of a good game. The “Tekken 7” opening movie also happens to feature a …

Tekken 7 – Recently Revealed Character “Shaheen” Is Breathtakingly Handsome

The most exciting thing about the prospect of a new fighting game is not simply that there will be a new fighting game but that there is going to be a whole new team of different characters that will have you trying to master their skills and be just as good with them as you are with franchise staples. I’ve not used Ryu from “Street Fighter” for many years because he just doesn’t seem as exciting as, let’s say, the newly re-introduced Charlie who’s coming to “Street Fighter 5” and it’s much the same with Tekken. Are people still using Jin? Actually, yes, probably, but that’s only because he’s a good-looking fellow and beautiful people get all the attention. That may not be the case for very long though because, just recently, Bandai Namco Producer Katsuhiro Harada made a Twitter post announcing a new character for the upcoming game; a man named Shaheen. So why are people going to pay more attention to him? Well, he’s a new character, first of all, but he’s also …

Tekken 7 Announcement Trailer Unveiled

Well who saw this one coming? Probably a great deal of fighting fans in the world who were moreso hoping for a new ‘Tekken’ game rather than simply anticipating. It was announced at this year’s Evolution Championship Series (a.k.a ‘EVO’) that ‘Tekken 7’ is now in development and has been for a little while at this point in time. Alongside the announcement came the teaser trailer for the upcoming fighter which, unfortunately, showed absolutely nothing of the actual game but set up a pretty serious storyline. Now the teaser does happen to feature the words ‘the final battle’ quite close to the end but I’m not so sure this will be the last ‘Tekken’ game. It’s a series that has lasted this long, I highly doubt it is going anywhere anytime soon. The game is supposedly being created through the Unreal Engine 4 which game producer Katsuhiro Harada had a little bit to say about: The power and flexibility means that we can focus our efforts on making Tekken 7 the best possible game without …
