Attack On Titan: Wings Of Freedom – PlayStation 4 Review

Attack On Titan is, arguably, one of the most popular Anime series’ of all time, alongside that of Sword Art Online, Fullmetal Alchemist, and Shonen staples like Naruto, One Piece, and Bleach. While it’s original Manga began in 2009, it didn’t receive any kind of mainstream attention until the airing of it’s Anime adaptation in 2013. The Manga scaled the best-seller charts alongside the rise in the Anime’s popularity, eventually coming to produce a gargantuan audience of die-hard fans. As you could imagine; the more beloved this series became the more people wanted from it, which has lead to both a Manga and Anime spin-off as well as, at this point in time, a couple of games. The first game, Attack On Titan: Humanity In Chains, was released in 2013 to a heavily below-average reception. It is now 2016 and video game development studio Omega Force have just released their very own take on an Attack On Titan game, one that boasts an enjoyable yet intricate control scheme that will ultimately prove to the Attack …

Interview With The Development Team Of Attack On Titan: Wings Of Freedom

Ever since Hajime Isayama’s brutal Manga was adapted into it’s very own Anime, courtesy of Wit Studio, fans have wondered what it would be like to be in complete control of their very own multi-dimensional manoeuvre gear, having to use it for the sole purpose of slaying giants that threaten the safety of humanity’s remains. This has been attempted, but never successful. Even to this day, fans still long for a well-made Attack On Titan action game that will give them the same, if not greater, thrill than that of the series’ Anime. Koei Tecmo and Omega Force have come together, once again, to answer the call of the fans with their upcoming multi-platform title Attack On Titan: Wings Of Freedom. Using development assets from their more recent titles, Omega Force have come to create an Attack On Titan game that fans can be proud of, and us here at SnapThirty have been given the grand opportunity to interview just a few of the key players behind this game’s development. Hajime Isayama, the creator of …

Another Reminder – Teaser Trailer Released For Omega Force’s Attack On Titan Game

On that day, mankind received a grim reminder…and since that day we’ve been reminded time and time again that Attack On Titan is one of the modern age’s most popular Anime series’, that’s why a brand-new game based on the horrifyingly gory series has just been announced. Now I’m sure you’ve all played the already-released Attack On Titan video game Humanity In Chains, right? No? Seriously? You at least know about it then. Surely. It was released exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS not too long ago and was met with a mediocre response. Yeah…not many people liked it, unfortunately. I guess that’s why developers Omega Force have decided to try their hand and making an enjoyable Attack On Titan game. The upcoming game, which was teased about two days ago to then be swiftly confirmed today, will hit shelves sometime in 2016. At least, that’s what Koei Tecmo America have assured the pop culture world. The game doesn’t even have an official title, yet we have a release year. Something is a little fishy about all this, …

First Batch Of Screenshots Released For Project X Zone 2

People love crossover titles. This is something I’ve always believed. The fact that Project X Zone is getting a sequel is just another sign that my belief is one that is more concrete than many others. There’s no one on the face of the Earth that doesn’t enjoy a bit of cross series, cross platform, cross generation battling, and anyone that days they don’t like that is a damn liar! Excuse my little rant, I get very passionate when it comes to games like this. Monolith Soft, the company behind the development of the game, have today released the very first batch of screenshots from the upcoming crossover sequel. Looking similar to the original game but sporting some nice new differences, Project X Zone 2: Brave New World looks like it’s going to feature a bunch of new characters from video games not featured at all in the first game. The most noticeable is Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima from Sega’s Yakuza series. Alongside the new characters there are some old favorites like Megaman X, …

Four Idiots Play: Dead Or Alive 5 Last Round

What happens when four grown men play a fighting game targeted at those with a penchant for violence mixed with a love for some soft-core eroticism? Well, you get this video. The boys from SnapThirty – Frank (@FrankInglese), Luke (@LAHalliday), Kane (@KaneBugeja) and Jahan (@JahanKingKhan) – decide that it’s time they all take on the wild and sexy world of Dead Or Alive 5 Last Round. What ensues is a great deal of screaming, a great deal of aggravation, a great deal of rivalry and a hell of a lot of body appreciation. Watch as long-time fan Jahan takes the other three to school and teaches them never to mess with someone who’s not only good at fighting games but gets stronger the more turned on he gets. It’s weird, it’s strange but it’s great – It’s Dead Or Alive 5 Last Round Huge thanks to Mindscape Australia (Tecmo Koei) who provided us with the review copy we used to record this video. Please support them where you can! -30-

Toukiden: Kiwami – PlayStation 4 Review

People tend to look towards the Greeks for their rich and extensive mythology. A movie centered around the life and times of Herculese is actually quite common nowadays, but I really do think their are better mythological sources one can draw from. Whether or not people agree with me is something else entirely. I happen to be a huge fan of Japanese lore and legend. As a huge fan it’s obvious that I consider it to be more interesting and ultimately more exciting than than that of any other culture’s. Why is that though? This I can’t explain. All I can say for certain is that whenever I get a chance to experience something to do with it, I take it and I do my very best to absorb as much as I can from it. This is why when our friends at Mindscape Australia offered us a review copy of the new game “Toukiden: Kiwami”, I had to take it. “Toukiden: Kiwami” follows a very basic story with many character interactions that surprisingly result in …

Hands-On With Toukiden: Kiwami

What is it that truly separates the monsters from those who hunt them? Some may say it is the power of humanity that only beings such as us humans posses. Others would say it lies in the level of restraint one has for ones enemy. An even smaller amount would say that if it looks like a monster than it’s probably a monster. Regardless, there are always heroes and there are always certain malevolent beings that need to be defeated. In “Toukiden: Kiwami” it is an army of Oni that push the valiant heroes to their absolute limits but you’ve got to think; if not for the ferocious beasts would there be no heroes? Thanks to Mindscape Australia and Tecmo Koei games we at SnapThirty were given the chance to preview the upcoming PlayStation 4 remake “Toukiden: Kiwami”, originally released on the PlayStation Vita as “Toukiden: The Age Of Demons”. Telling the same tale told in “The Age Of Demons”, “Kiwami” follows a small village located in an undisclosed and ancient region of Japan that has been …

Dead or Alive 5: Last Round – Xbox One Review

Dead or Alive 5: Last Round is the final expansion to 2012’s Dead or Alive 5. While the game is available for last generation systems, the next-gen edition of Dead or Alive 5: Last Round on the PS4/Xbox One on the other hand is a whole different story, if not the real deal. The PS4/Xbox One edition not only features a wealth of new content but also a revamped graphics engine that takes advantage of the new technology. Dead or Alive 5: Last Round marks a less-than-ideal debut of the franchise on modern hardware, a distraction until Team Ninja unleash the inevitable Dead or Alive 6. Obviously for the uninitiated, Dead or Alive 5: Last Round is the best possible place to start and a great fighting release through and through. But even those who were on board since the original iteration landed in 2012 may find the offerings of Last Round appealing enough to fall in love with the game once more. Dead or Alive 5 on last generation systems is still a visually impressive game, …

Hands-On with Dead or Alive 5: Last Round

For those of you who are going through cold lonely nights like our Frank Inglese (especially on Valentine’s Day), then fret not, come February 20 the fine gals of Dead or Alive 5: Last Round will be taking care of you (and most certainly not judge you). We recently had a chance to sit down with the final build of the title, and based on what we’ve played, fighting fans should be looking forward to the first next-gen debut of the celebrated 3D fighting franchise later this month. Now granted, this is a remaster of a game that came out some years ago on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and Last Round is in fact the third (and apparently final) expansion to Dead or Alive 5. Now until a true Dead or Alive 6 happens, this is what we’ve got for our DOA fix, but honestly Dead or Alive 5: Last Round is looking to be less of a consolation prize and more of a definitive fighting release for your Xbox One or PS4. Something …

Samurai Warriors 4 – Review

I’ve always believed I was born in the wrong age. It’s not that I’m so different from my brothers and sisters from this generation, it’s more that I have always dreamed about growing up in the time of the Samurai. I’m a romantic in that regard and I know this because, in all of my daydreams, I’ve never seen myself as anything less than the greatest sword fighter. Let’s be honest here, reader, I’d probably be a terrible Samurai, in fact, I probably wouldn’t be one at all! I’d probably be a farmer or a laborer who still, even while living in that time, would dream of picking up a sword and fighting for my land. Thus is the beauty in fantasy. It is video games like the newly released ‘Samurai Warriors 4’ that allows me to momentarily quell what occupies my mind and I couldn’t possibly think of a better title to load into my PlayStation 4 than this. It’s been quite a while since I last partook in a ‘Warriors’ game of this …

Hands On With Samurai Warriors 4 – EB Expo 2014

Steady readers of this site will know that I am a huge fan of Samurai. It doesn’t really matter what the medium is, so long as a Samurai or Samurai-type character features somewhere within it I’ll be happy. This is why I practically ran to the Koei Tecmo booth as soon as I entered the hall of this years EB Expo. I dashed past ‘Dead Or Alive 5: Last Round’ and past the ‘Metal Gear Solid’ presentation room just so I could sink my teeth in what I believed to be the ‘next big thing’ in Samurai gaming and…I was not let down. Unfortunately, during the time I was at the booth, it didn’t have much traffic. Unfortunate for the company trying to advertise their games but fortunate for someone like me who was happy to jump the cue so as to not have to wait in line; the thing I hate the very most. Whoever had played before me clearly didn’t stick around to finish the mission they started, I jumped into it half …

Come Spring 2015 you’ll be experiencing the world of ‘Dragon Quest’ in a way like you’ve never before with the newly-announced Square Enix/Tecmo Koei/Omega Force collaboration video game title ‘Dragon Quest: Heroes’. Sony Computer Entertainment announced today at their pre-TGS (Tokyo Game Show) press conference that next year they will be releasing a brand-new ‘Dragon Quest’ title along with a special edition PlayStation 4 system titled the ‘Dragon Quest Metal Slime Edition’, both of which will be released at the same time. Alongside the announcement came the very first trailer for the upcoming game. We’ve provided that as well as a batch of screenshots just below. Once again, ‘Dragon Quest: Heroes’ is set for a release in Japan sometime during Spring 2015 for both the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. -30-

The Demon King Returns To the Battlefield! Ganondorf Announced For “Hyrule Warriors”

Let’s be honest here, reader; we never really thought Ganondorf WOULDN’T make an appearance for the new game did we? No, I didn’t think so! If the ‘Hero of Time’ is given a chance to slice and dice up the battlefield than so should his eternal nemesis. Today, during the latest ‘Nintendo Direct’ episode stream, Tecmo Koei announced through a wonderfully dark character trailer that Ganondorf will be one of the playable characters in the upcoming ‘Legend of Zelda’ spin-off title ‘Hyrule Warriors’. This comes as some welcome news to fans of the franchise who have been itching to tear up hordes of enemies using nothing but the powers of all-encompassing darkness! Now it is true, Ganondorf does look a little different. Even somewhat strange with his long, luxurious hair but something that was also announced alongside his appearance in the game is that he’ll have a couple of costumes to switch in and out of that may make him look a little more similar to how you remember him. Both the ‘Ocarina of Time’ …

Sheik Brings The Noise In The Latest “Hyrule Warriors” Character Trailer

There’s nothing more beautiful than the soft melodies of a harp. There’s nothing more deadly than a shinobi-type assassin ready for the kill. Mix those two things together and you’ve got yourself one hell of a badass gameplay trailer! Last week Tecmo Koei games introduced us, once again, to the mysteriously fierce assassin known only as ‘Sheik’…that is, for those of you who don’t know her true identity. She came to us originally as a bunch of screenshots that showcased her moveset well but left a great deal to the imagination…that’s all changed now thanks to a new trailer for ‘Hyrule Warriors’ that shows off her cut-throat fighting style. She also plays some music which is nice for the enemies to hear before they’re put to their deaths. Rest in pieces. This Wii U exclusive is soon to be hitting up local video game store shelves in Europe on the 19th of September and after that in North America on the 26th of September. It’s only just around the corner. -30-

“Hyrule Warriors” Character Recap Trailer Released

Here’s something to think about, reader: I, as a man who writes about things like video games all the time, sometimes find it hard to keep up to date with every single information update regarding new titles, especially in this day and age where developers and publishers are more than happy to bombard us with as many screenshots and gameplay trailers as possible. Though, as a writer, my job is to scour the internet and catch up on everything I possibly can before moving on to something else. Tecmo Koei games have, over the weekend, done people like me a serious solid with the release of a new ‘Hyrule Warriors’ trailer that actually compresses each and every one of the character introduction/spotlight videos into one awesome piece of ‘Legend of Zelda’ footage that will both bring you up to date on all the characters that will feature in the game as well as making you immeasurable excited for the pure awesomeness to come! Link, Zelda, Impa, Midna, Lana, Agitha, Fi, Ruto, Darunia and Sheik, the …

New Batch of “Hyrule Warriors” Screenshots Introduce Us To “Ocarina Of Time” Greats

For a game like ‘Hyrule Warriors’ to stand out as another fantastic high-octane action title, it needs to have a cast of highly-likable, bad-ass characters…well, if anything, it has that and so much more! Three new characters for the upcoming game were revealed but a week ago through Japan’s ‘Famitsu’ magazine, you may know them, they each play somewhat pivotal roles in the ‘LoZ’ Nintendo 64 classic ‘Ocarina of Time’: Sheik the mysterious assassin, Darunia the Goron warrior and Princess Ruto the Zora beauty were all announced as playable characters but with their announcement came no real show of just what it is they will be able to do in-game, well…that’s all changed now thanks to Tecmo Koei’s latest batch of ‘Hyrule Warriors’ screenshots. These new images focus on each of the newly-announced characters and shows them in true HD, taking down enemies left, right and center. The way it should be! This Wii U exclusive is set to hit Japan this August, which will be followed up by a European release on the …

The True Master Of The Fist! New ‘Hyrule Warriors’ Trailer Showcases Link’s Power Gloves

What’s better than a magical sword wielded by countless heroes throughout time? Good question! There’s only one real answer: Big gloves. Well, not just ‘big’ gloves…damn big gloves! Powerful gauntlets of pure brawn that grant the wearer imaginable strength while at the same time making them look as formidable as humanly possible. Today Tecmo Koei games released a brand-new showcase trailer for their upcoming ‘Hyrule Warriors’ game that just so happens to feature the hero of time Link with his new weapons; the Power Gloves. Link sheathes his sword for the time being and puts on a pair of these titanic gauntlets as he shows us he’s not too afraid of some literal hand-to-hand combat. See Link destroy hordes of enemies with nothing but brute force in the latest trailer for the upcoming game which is set for an exclusive release on the Wii U this September on the 19th for Europe and the 26th for North America.
