Capcom Reveal Monster Hunter XX and Sailor Moon Collaboration For Upcoming Game

At this point in time, no one is shocked that the latest in the long series of Monster Hunter titles, Monster Hunter XX, is already collaborating with other popular franchises. The last few games in the series had countless tie-ins with not only Nintendo-owned and other Capcom IPs but also Anime series like Ushio and Tora, Fairy Tail, Yowamushi Pedal, and others that are far too abundant to list. Well, Monster Hunter XX hasn’t even been released yet, and already Capcom are revealing ANOTHER collaboration for the upcoming game, and despite how bizarre they have been in the past…nobody expected this: It’s Sailor Moon’s 25th anniversary, and to celebrate you will be able to dress your very own Palico up like the series’ own flagship feline; Luna! Alongside a Luna skin for your cat companion, a weapon (only able to be equipped to the Palico) called the Cutie Moon Rod from the series will also be made available. On top of that, this collaboration will also gift you with a Guild Card Background also reminiscent of …

Destroy STIs And Your Childhood With These Sailor Moon-Themed Condoms

Sexually Transmitted Infections are still quite an issue across the world. This is just one of those things that hasn’t changed despite years of development to prevent their spread. It’s easy enough to use condoms while partaking in the act, but many people prefer to go about it without the prophylactic and this is when issues arise. It is apparent that, over in Japan, the spread of diseases like syphilis is far too common in young men and women, so common in fact that the government has publicly kicked off a new campaign that is to promote safe sex in, for lack of better words…quite the unconventional way. Collaborating with Naoko Takeuchi, the Japanese Government have begun using imagery of the hit Manga/Anime/Pop Culture Phenomenon Sailor Moon to urge young men and women to not only get tested for sexually transmitted diseases but to actively work against preventing them. In a majority of medical institutions across Japan you will now be able to catch glimpses of the Pretty Guardian herself exclaiming “If you don’t get tested, I’ll punish …

The Fiery Rei Hino: Sailor Mars! – Interview with Cristina Vee at MadFest 2016

The inaugural Madfest Japanese Pop Culture Festival, run by Australia’s own Madman Entertainment, featured many guests. Out of them all, we at SnapThirty were given the opportunity to interview many, including the lovely Cristina Vee who, as you may know, is the voice of Sailor Moon’s own Rei Hino, also known as Sailor Mars. Alongside that huge role Cristina also lends her talents to Killua Zoldyck (Hunter X Hunter), Homura Akemi (Puella Magi Madoka Magica), Riruka Dokugamine (Bleach), Mamejiro (Blood Lad), Rei Hououmaru (Kill La Kill), Hawk (Seven Deadly Sins), and many, many more! We sat down to talk about all things Sailor Moon, Hunter X Hunter, and Pokemon as she attempted to catch herself an elusive Kangaskhan before leaving Australia, not knowing when she’ll next return. Spoiler alert: Sometime after the interview…she caught one! Woo hoo! Below is the video featuring the entire interview so sit back, relax, and enjoy our talk with the lovely Cristina Vee. -30-

Sailor Moon R (Season Two) Part Two – Review

Like Dragon Ball Z, Pokemon, and Cardcaptor Sakura, Sailor Moon is a series that was enjoyed by many back in the later years of the 1990s. Driven by pure nostalgia, it is a series that, to this day, still retains the same fans it once had all those years ago, and for what reason? Well, there’s no denying that it is a groundbreaking series the likes of which changed both the Anime and Manga landscape, allowing for more contemporary series’ like it to blossom in the gardens it tirelessly developed, but it’s now 2016 and those same flourishing series’ are now Sailor Moon’s main competitors, so what has kept it afloat for so long, and what is it that will keep it high above the rest for years to come? As someone who uses nostalgia to fan the fires of past passions constantly, I very much understand that it is a power source unlike any other…but is it enough to drive an entire fandom years after a series’ peak? The answer is; yes, but does …

Sailor Moon R (Season Two) Part One – Review

When a series gains critical mass and becomes unimaginably popular with viewers the world over, chances are that it’s going to continue indefinitely regardless of story limitations or anything else that would, in any other case, cease it’s production. We’ve seen this countless times before with Shonen Jump series’ like Dragon Ball, Naruto, and Bleach, but it is not an issue that only effects series’ directed at young boys. Psycho-Pass was treated to this unfortunate elongating treatment, as well as Durarara!!, and many others. While the series’ continuation past the point of worthwhile storytelling does not take away from one’s enjoyment of it’s original run, it does do wonders in sullying the name what was originally seen as something great. Though, it depends on who you are, as many things do. For someone like myself, I enjoy to see something end on a high, rather than it continue only to fall into an odd mediocre obscurity, but others simply enjoy the idea that their favorite Anime, Manga, or Video Game is continuing. Sailor Moon is one …

Sailor Moon (Season One) Part Two – Review

Usagi Tsukino has only just been reminded of her true identity, that she is Princess Serenity; heiress to the Moon Kingdom, and she’s discovered that, while there’s no rabbit pounding rice cakes on the Earth’s moon…there once was a prosperous kingdom lead by the kind-hearted Queen Serenity, who sacrificed her own life for the safety of her people. In the second part of Sailor Moon season one, it looks as though things are beginning to shift in huge ways: Usagi and the Sailor Scout gang are no longer just super-powered teenagers, they’re something much more than that…they’re galactic royalty! Madman Entertainment’s Australian release of Sailor Moon (Season One) Part Two sets the series on a straight and narrow path towards it’s end, and despite it’s continued “monster of the week” style episode layout, the ending of season one truly does go off with a bang: One the likes of which has stayed in the hearts of fans for many years, and will continue to remain there for many years to come. Thank you, once again, …

Sailor Moon (Season One) Part One – Review

Okay, I think this is better to get out of the way early: I, Frank Anthony Inglese, have never seen the hit Magical Girl Anime series Sailor Moon…until now. Yes, I know, it’s incredibly irregular that an Anime fan such as myself has not seen the series that breathed new life into the sub-genre that it is now known for almost single-handedly defining. What makes this piece of information all the more peculiar is that I co-run a website dedicated to the love of all things Japanese pop culture, of which Sailor Moon is undoubtedly at the forefront even after all these years. As the team sat down to discuss which of Madman Entertainment’s products we would be interested in reviewing, this thought came to me, and I felt as though it is my duty to experience this much-loved series once and for all. It doesn’t help that my partner happens to be a die-hard fan of the series who, on an almost daily basis up until that point, had been pressuring me into experiencing …

The Attendees of SMASH! 2015 – Cosplay Compilation

The cosplay community is a large, thriving collection of incredibly dedicated and hard-working fans of pop culture. Preparing months (sometimes even years) in advanced, these men and women put countless hours into constructing costumes modelled after their favorite characters from the world of pop culture, but…come on, you know this already, right? Cosplay has been around for many, many years. It’s so popular in the modern age that I honestly cannot imagine it ever dulling in popularity…nor should it. At every pop culture convention, one of the more amazing sights is that of a crowd of cosplayers not only enjoying their own costumes but the costumes of others and the convention itself. When it comes to prime cosplayers, it seems as though SMASH! truly is the place to be. Each and every year the quality of cosplay you see on the show grounds continues to grow ever higher, with those living the dedicated cosplay lifestyle continuing to develop as craftsmen and craftswomen. SMASH! 2015 was no different. Each and every cosplayer present put clear effort into their …
