The Fabled “Second Punch” – One-Punch Man Anime To Get A Second Season

The titular One-Punch Man, Saitama, has had quite a firm grasp on the Anime-loving community ever since the debut of the series’ adaptation last year. As with any popular Anime series, One-Punch Man’s television success trickled over and landed firmly onto the original Manga series which also gained quite a level of popularity. One-Punch Man is so beloved, in fact, that original creator ONE’s other Manga series, Mob Psycho 100, was also adapted into an Anime series. Thus is the sheer force of One-Punch Man. Literally the moment the final episode of what will now be referred to as “Season One” ended, fans demanded more from Saitama, to which Madhouse simply could not deny. It was obvious from the very moment this series hit the air, but it wasn’t just going to have the one season. No way. Over in Japan, a special event was held to commemorate all things One-Punch Man. This celebratory affair, titled the “One Punch Man Fall Festival“, featured many exciting things, but none more than the reveal that it’s Anime adaptation …

Interview with Shingo Natsume the director of One Punch Man

During the first ever Madman Anime Festival, we were lucky enough to get the chance to sit down with Shingo Natsume the director of the mega hit anime series One Punch Man. We discuss his work on the series and thoughts on Yusuke Murata’s original artwork in his adaptation manga as well as talking about the ins and outs of directing an anime series. Read on for our full interview with Shingo Natsume. SnapThirty: Given One Punch Man’s status as a fan favourite, what sort of pressures were involved in its adaptation? Natsume: As you can imagine with the quality of Murata’s art style it was hard to imagine how it would be in animation, however Kubota-san the character designer for the series did a really good job and was able to achieve the same quality of design. Also the animators were really great people. We were lucky to have such skilled and passionate people that were able to reflect the animation really well. SnapThirty: How much discussion went into creating the signature style of …

Taking On Madfest 2016’s One-Punch Man Experience

It doesn’t take a genetically-modified cyborg with heightened processing capabilities to understands that One-Punch Man has taken the world by storm, quickly becoming one of the most popular Anime titles in recent years, so it makes sense that, for the very first Madfest Japanese Pop Culture Expo, Madman Entertain would feature an incredibly unique “One-Punch Man” experience. As just a few of the many to attended the brand-new festival, we at SnapThirty were able to be a part of the four part One-Punch Man experience, and, for your reading pleasure, I’m about to take you through it one step at a time! The Titular “One Punch”: Chances are, if you’re reading this, you’ve been to an Arcade. Surely. Well as sure as I am of that, I’m just as sure that you’ve seen a machine titled “Dragon Punch“; a “game” wherein which you’re given the chance to punch a speedball a single time in an attempt to get the high score. Quite on the nose, don’t you think? You get literally one punch, so it …

One-Punch Man Volume Four – Review

Superheroism is a dangerous game. More often than not, these (optionally) caped crusaders stand toe to toe with titanic terrors that threaten the very safety of humanity or, to a slightly lesser extent, the stability of society and must stand their ground for the benefit of all. Of course this is nothing new and these exploits of championhood have bolstered stories and legends throughout the ages. What doesn’t often make the tale however is the innate uncertainty that dwells within certain heroes, nor does the selfishness and danger that comes with making oneself an icon. However, as we spiral ever further into the investigation of the flawed individual, we come to find that even those who stand out as the best are sometimes born from intentions which are far from the same. Yet still we must question the benefit of such and endeavour, as peering beneath the mask defeats its purpose and throws one of the world’s most tries and true tropes into chaos. As down time is an almost alien concept within Cities A through …

One-Punch Man Volume Three – Review

Regardless of what they entail, jobs can be stressing. Be it an issue with a computer, a clash with a customer or an all round slow day, their are countless trials and tribulations that can turn any frown upside-down and then immediately right side up. But what ho, fiction dawns upon the horizon, that age old escape from the problems of a hard fought day, that window into a world unbound from the laws of our own, free to exist in whatever form it so desires. Monsters, angels, demons, heroes, beings free from the confines of reality, from the mundanity of…no. wait, heroism is a career now. Damn. Ah well, a little fiscal accountability never hurt anyone…right? Yes my friends and fans of fiction, being a champion of justice just got legal. No longer are our caped crusaders vigilantes in the eyes of the law, no longer must they hide for fear of recompense, for they are now agents of the law, under the law. Sounds like a pretty sweet gig right? Well yes and …

One-Punch Man Volume One and Two – Review

Strength, power, ability, all words synonymous…well for the same thing really, but it is something that is longed for nonetheless. For those wishing to make a difference, for those desiring a different lot in life, for those with a dream. Now, whilst I could spend a sizeable chunk of time delving into the various interpretations of what power is, I’m going to keep it simple and just talk about the one that makes you punch harder. Why you ask? Because of the manga title, see how I tied the punching thing in there? With all the subtlety of a freight train? You know what else has that level of subtlety? One-Punch Man. Taking place in a world that is the fruition of tokusatsu fan’s dreams, this particular manga provides us with an unforgettable face in the form of Saitama: Hero for Fun. Having hop skipped and jumped through his origin story in record time, we come to learn that he was a despondent,  unemployed gentleman, sparked into action by a helpless (and annoying) child and his dormant childhood …

Fall 2015 Anime Season Watch Guide

Okay so I am a little late to the party this time around with my watch guide but hey I have at least watched some of the series this time so this is a guide of a different kind of flavour. Rather than being based simply on how things look from the outside, this will be more of an inside look after having watched some of the series this season. I will be listing what I think is worth a look in for Fall 2015. So without further adieu, here is SnapThirty’s handy Fall 2015 anime season watch guide.   Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans (Sunrise) Gundam is back, baby! Iron-Blooded Orphans may just be one of my favourite anime this season, kicking off with a barn burner of a premiere episode that hit all the right notes while setting the stage for what is sure to be one hell of an anime series. Not only does this series showcase all the things that make the Gundam franchise so damn good but it also breaks …

First Thoughts: One-Punch Man – Saving Anime, One Punch At A Time

I’m literally lost for words. A terrifying way to start an opinion piece, but a reality that I simply cannot avoid for any longer. I’ve sat at my work desk and I’ve pondered the first episode of One-Punch Man for longer than I care to admit, yet here I am still stuck, unable to express the intense emotion that this Anime has built up inside of me with just one episode. I feel as though I may burst if I do not express to the world just how much I truly love this Anime, and just how necessary it is to the evolution of the industry. I feel like I have to start from the very beginning by asking; what makes an Anime good? What’s funny is that the answer to that question is essentially…One-Punch Man, simply because it has all the traits of an Anime you can enjoy on almost every single level. One-Punch Man, for some background knowledge, is a brand-new Anime series based upon a Manga series that was, let’s say, “inspired” …

Fists Up In The Air, People: The “One-Punch Man” Anime Adaptation has Officially Been Greenlit!

Here I thought this day would never come. People, surely you’ve heard of the comtemporary Manga series “One-Punch Man” right? You havn’t?! That’s insane! Well, “One-Punch Man” is a simple Shonen story that revolves around a B-Grade superhero that has the inhuman ability to destroy anyONE or anyTHING with a single punch. Despite having such an ability, he hasn’t quite made it into the Hollywood-like world of professional superheroism…but he’s on his way! Originally a web comic by amateur artist and writer “ONE”, “One-Punch Man” was picked up and adapted into a proper Manga in 2012 by well-known Shonen Jump royalty Yusuke Murata who you may know illustrated the series “Eyeshield 21”. It’s now 2015 and an Anime adaptation of the odd Manga has finally been greenlit for production. As of right now, there hasn’t been much of an information release. The only thing that has been announced is that there is going to be an adaptation, who will be spearheading this new series is so far unknown but word is that, come Anime Japan …
