One Piece Film: Gold – Review

For as long as there has been an event with multiple outcomes, you can bet your sweet straw hat the someone has been there, currency in hand, ready to test their luck. Combining the possibility of victory with the thrill of the unknown, countless characters to this day spin wheels, roll dice and flip cards in the hope of leaving with more than they came with. However, beyond all of the glitz and glamour, the bright lights and loud noises, lies a discernibly darker side to this practice; losing. Though far from a concealed side effect, many are taken aback by this aspect of gambling and wind up losing far more than they ever bet in the first place. Given the path that One Piece has been following, it was inevitable that the Straw Hat Crew would find themselves on a casino ship that was the size of a medium island and considered by the World Government to be its own independent country. Thus, it is not too jarring when exactly that happens and we …

One Piece: Grand Pirate Colosseum and DBZ: Extreme Butoden Go Head-To-Head In Crossover Update

Because it was actually released outside of Japan, many people living in the West would have, at least, seen the Nintendo 3DS exclusive Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden. It’s a fighting game developed by Arc System Works that is very much reminiscent of older Dragon Ball Z handheld titles. Well something you may not be entirely aware of is the existence of another Arc System Works fighting game based on another Shonen Jump staple of equal popularity; One Piece. This game, which is so far unreleased even in Japan, is titled One Piece: Grand Pirate Colosseum and features a similar gameplay design to that of Extreme Butoden. This game is also an exclusive for the Nintendo 3DS. Bandai Namco Entertainment Japan have recently revealed that, sometime in November, Arc System Works is set to release a free update for both games that will allow them to interact in huge ways. How huge? Well, huge enough that you will be able to cross-title battle, meaning Goku can go up against Luffy, Vegeta against Zolo, Piccolo against …

One Piece: Burning Blood – PlayStation 4 Review

It’s amusing to imagine that, in modern times, One Piece has become synonymous with the video game developer Omega Force thanks to their small but impactful series of Warriors-style games of which introduced the West to One Piece video game adaptations. Three strikingly similar games later, and a few offshoots similar enough to the original, it is now an odd sight to behold when a video game based on the Shonen Jump legend One Piece is more than just a one-vs-thousands Dynasty Warriors clone. The release of One Piece: Romance Dawn in 2013 was like a breath of fresh for Western fans of the series simply due to the fact that it was NOT part of the One Piece: Pirate Warriors series. Despite the fact that it was reviewed heavily as a sub-par Role-Playing Game, it still differentiated itself from the norm, and thus made somewhat of an impact. It’s now 2016, and the long-awaited One Piece: Burning Blood has been released worldwide, exciting and delighting One Piece fans thanks to it’s lack of similarities to …

Yo Ho Ho? There’s Now Going To Be A One Piece Live-Action Film?!

I have to say, reader; I’ve begun feeling like a broken record as of late. It seems as though I’ve written quite a few news pieces regarding live-action film adaptations as of late, and they only seem to keep coming. Just yesterday it was revealed that Tokyo Ghoul will be getting it’s very own live-action film, and today, thanks to an announcement by Shanghai Minghuan Investment, it seems as though the Shonen Jump classic series One Piece will be the next to receive the same adaptation treatment. At least…that’s the plan. Announced through Business Wire about twelve hours ago, Shanghai Minghuan has purchased the copyright for One Piece from Eiichiro Oda and Shonen Jump for 1.6 Billion Yen (US$15 Million), and plans to use said copyright to produce a live-action film based, roughly, on the long-running series. From what we’re lead to believe, plans to develop a One Piece film of this kind have been in place for quite some time, with the only thing holding the company back being that of the copyright restraints, but …

Taking It To The Streets – Latest One Piece: Burning Blood Trailer Takes Place In Shibuya

Us Shonen fans are a whimsical bunch, that much is for sure. We read and watch Hunter X Hunter, Shaman King, My Hero Academia, and all the other greats while thinking to ourselves; “Man…what I would give for all of this to be real“. It’s nice, feeling as though you can escape from the humdrum of everyday life by burying yourself in your favorite series, but you know what isn’t nice? The realistic implications that come with Shonen heroes and villains existing in our realm. Do you understand the level of destruction such characters would cause? Bandai Namco Entertainment do, and they’ve given us a glimpse into that reality with the latest trailer for their upcoming fighting game title One Piece: Burning Blood! By now, you should know exactly what One Piece: Burning Blood is, but for those of you who don’t; One Piece: Burning Blood is an upcoming fighting game that pits One Piece characters against each other in one-on-one bouts of strength. Unlike most, if not all, of the previous One Piece video …

There’s No Escaping Lady Law – One Piece’s First Gender-Swap Figure Released

When you look at a character like One Piece’s Trafalgar Law I bet the first thing you think to yourself is; “Holy hell, this here is one good-looking man!“…I know I do. Every time I see a new One Piece figure portraying “The Surgeon of Death” himself, I’m always blown away by just how damn handsome he is, and you know what they say; “Behind every handsome man…is a hyper sexy gender-bend just waiting to be seen“. Is that a saying? I’m fairly certain that’s a saying. Now, One Piece, like all Shonen Manga series, is not merchandise shy. No way, no how! Almost every single character has his or her own figure, and that even includes ones that don’t necessarily exist within the canon of the series. MegaHouse, a development company that prides itself on high quality figures, has begun releasing a series of One Piece figures that just so happen to portray your favorite characters in their gender-swapped forms. The first of the series just so happens to be Trafalgar Law, but he is …

Gum Gum Costume Change – One Piece: Burning Blood Pre-Order Bonuses Announced

One Piece; that treasure that all those pirates are looking for in that one show…One Piece I think. Yet, despite their best efforts, said treasure remains a mystery still buried amidst the islands of the world…if it even is buried. In the meantime however, these pirates pass the days by beating each other up for various piratey reasons, which segues nicely into the actual point of this article. As the latest entry into the catalogue of One Piece games, Burning Blood promises the chance to pit some of your favourite characters against each other for fun. But I’m sure you already knew that. What you may not have known however was that those who pre-order this particular game will receive a whole three extra Luffys with which to fight. Drawing back to a time gone by, Champion Luffy from the Davy Back Fight arc will grace the battlefield once more, along with compatriots Kung Fu Luffy (based on a sketch by Eiichiro Oda from Chapter 710 of the manga) and Luffy Gear 4th (though this …

SnapThirty Crowns Toughest Lady In Japanese Pop Culture

For years, pop culture fanatics have been at war with each other. Countless relationships have been ruined over talks of who is best this and who is best that. For example: While some of us tend to think Persona 4’s Chie is Best Girl, others may believe it is Sword Art Online’s Asuna. The problem with this ongoing debate is that it is one fought entirely on a biased foundation, meaning that there can never be a proper resolution. This conflict is one that seems as though it is never going to end, but us here at SnapThirty want you all to know that we will be the ones to bring peace back into the pop culture world…one character at a time. On episode 43 of the SnapThirty podcast, the boys decided that they were going to run a series of tournament brackets to decide once and for all who from Japanese pop culture truly are the best of the best. While Best Girl is indeed the most sought after title in all of …

One Piece’s Sanji Has A Last Name, And It Has Just Been Revealead

One Piece’s Sanji hasn’t been in the limelight as of late, seeing as his level of appearance in the Manga has been at all-time low, but he is still one of the fan favorites, and still one of the more powerful members of the Straw Hat crew, so there’s no way we could forget about him for even a second. Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, has this strange but amazing talent to be able to write characters in ways that make them seem, regardless of how much “screen time” they’re given, like they have gone through some sort of growth or evolution. This also works in the inverse; Oda is able to write a character with a large amount of backstory without ever needing to specifically detail it. The latest chapter of One Piece, which has just been released over in Japan as a part of the latest Weekly Shonen Jump issue, reveals to the audience something we never thought would ever come about. In fact, I personally never thought about this until…now. …

Bandai Namco Releases Five Minute Trailer For One Piece: Burning Blood

We know, we know, you’re all pretty freaking jazzed about the upcoming One Piece fighting game Burning Blood. How do we know? Well, hell…because we’re damn excited to! Often when a One Piece game is developed, it’s usually handled by Omega Force who love to make Warriors-style titles that pit one against many. That’s why we have three One Piece: Pirate Warriors currently available for purchase across almost all home consoles. Japan are fine, they seem to get handheld One Piece fighting game titles, so to them Burning Blood is just another one to add to the long list, but for us here in the West, well…this is on par with being a miracle. Burning Blood, unlike other mainstream One Piece video game titles, does not have players facing off against countless enemies, attacking horde after horde until one area is liberated, then moving onto another. Oh no no, One Piece: Burning Blood is a full-on fighting title that pits Logia Users against Haki Masters in ways we’ve yet to see until now. Bandai Namco …

Play As Gear Fourth Luffy In Bandai Namco’s One Piece: Burning Blood

Bandai Namco Entertainment announced, through this week’s issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump, that Luffy’s Gear Fourth form can be used as a playable character in their upcoming fighting title One Piece: Burning Blood. Revealed as the protagonist’s latest and greatest form at the very end of the Dressrosa Arc, this evolved combat style mixes the brute force of Luffy’s Busoshoku Haki (Armament Haki) with his incredible speed in a way that makes him almost unbeatable…except for the fact that his stamina is easily drained while in this mode, forcing him to return to normal after a short amount of time. Burning Blood is really busting down barriers with the way that it is being presented to audiences. It is a game that focuses on the fighting variants of Devil Fruit users in realistic (in accordance to the series) ways, but not only that; it is also introducing characters to the world of One Piece video games that have, before this, never been seen. X Drake, General Franky, and now Gear Fourth Luffy will all …

One Piece: Burning Blood To Feature General Franky And X Drake

Yeah, I bet you didn’t expect these two One Piece characters to be featured on the roster of the upcoming fighting title One Piece: Burning Blood. So far, the most we’ve heard about this game is that it will feature realistic battles between Devil Fruit and Haki users, with those of the Logia type being able to make themselves invulnerable and those knowing how to use Haki being able to activate and shut said Logia users down, but never once was it mentioned that there would be gargantuan characters like X Drake and General Franky thrown into the mix. The latest issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump has just been released over in Japan, and between the pages of this much-loved weekly magazine lies this incredible news regarding the upcoming multi-platform fighter and it’s extended roster. The screenshots featured in the full-page spot shows X Drake in his Tyrannosaurus Rex form going head-to-head with the General Franky confirming that this game will at least have one large-scale battle between two damn big characters. X Drake has …

Where There’s Fire, There’s Smoker – New Playable Character Announced For One Piece: Burning Blood

Do me a favour, I need help proving something; go ahead and ask any One Piece fan who their favorite character is. Chances are, they’re all going to be drastically different, of course, but I have a sneaking suspicious they’ll all mention Smoker at least once during the conversation because, well…he’s Smoker. There’s a new One Piece game on the horizon, and this time it’s not being developed by Omega Force which means it’s not going to be another Pirate Warriors title! Wahoo! One Piece: Burning Blood was announced by Bandai Namco Entertainment recently and already it has been confirmed to be making it’s way to the West next year. Despite that, there’s not a great deal we know about this upcoming fighting game; we know that it won’t be like previously released One Piece titles, and we know that the gameplay mechanics will have a great deal to do with Haki and Logia users. If you don’t know what those two things are, I think you may be in the wrong place. V-Jump, a Japanese …

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 Review

When it comes to ‘Warriors‘ games, you are going to have one of two reactions. You are either going to be excited at the thought of demolishing hordes of enemies between crumbs of a story or you are going to loathe the thought of doing just that for fear of sheer boredom. Both viewpoints are valid and if you have played one ‘Warriors’ game you are sure to have quickly formed an opinion one way or the other. In recent times the ‘Warriors‘ franchise has become the Japanese video games equivalent of Call of Duty or Assassin’s Creed. Tecmo Koei and Omega Force crank out multiple games a year under the ‘Warriors‘ banner rarely stopping to do much in way of reinventing the wheel. While admittedly some ‘Warriors‘ games prove to be more interesting than others, it is the One Piece: Pirate Warriors series of games that has a place in my heart personally. As a fan of One Piece, these games are easily the best games based on the franchise ever put together. They …

Bandai Namco Announces One Piece: Thousand Storm SmartPhone Game

Bandai Namco Entertainment have only just announced their latest One Piece video game title Burning Blood, but it seems as though that is simply not enough because they’ve just gone ahead and announced ANOTHER One Piece title, this time called “Thousand Storm“. This new game, unlike Burning Blood, will not be released on the conventional consoles like most of the One Piece games that have come before it. Bandai Namco Entertainment seem to be, once again, heading into the realm of SmartPhone gaming for the new title labelled a “united Pirates RPG“…whatever that’s supposed to mean. Yes, Thousand Storm will not be released on any of the big consoles, instead it will call the palm of your hand it’s home as it is planned for an iOS and Android release in both Japan and throughout the West sometime in 2016. Thousand Storm will be an RPG heavily based on teamwork. It’s a video game that will urge you to partner up with two of your friends and take on the series’ antagonists as a team rather …

Feelin’ Hot Hot Hot – One Piece: Burning Blood Hits The West In 2016

This is news regarding an upcoming One Piece video game so, chances are, you’ve already heard everything you possibly could’ve about it. That’s just the way promotion works for new titles based on this highly-popular Shonen Jump series. Only recently, Bandai Namco Entertainment revealed the Spike Chunsoft-developed One Piece: Burning Blood, announcing that it will not only be getting a release across Japan but also throughout the West. What we, the pop culture-loving people, were not told was WHEN we would be seeing this title hit local shelves, and today…that’s exactly what Bandai Namco have announced. Lacking specifics, One Piece: Burning Blood is confirmed to be released in the West sometime in 2016 for not only the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, but also for the Xbox One, making it the first One Piece video game title to cross the console border, previously only being released on Sony systems. Burning Blood will be unlike all the other One Piece video game titles that have come before it, rather than playing as a single character against …

Bandai Namco Entertainment Announces One Piece: Burning Blood

About a week or so ago, I wrote an article regarding Bandai Namco Entertainment and their licensing of a video game name that went by the name Burning Blood. In this article I compared the name to that of the Japanese delinquent fight game Crows: Burning Edge, stating that there was a possibility that the company plan on bringing said game to the West under a new title. As it turns out…I’m dead wrong. The name Burning Blood actually belongs to a brand-new One Piece fighting game set to be released for the PlayStation Vita and the PlayStation 4. How do I know this now? Well Bandai Namco Entertainment announced this alongside a trailer for the upcoming One Piece game at this year’s Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Asia Press conference. Not much is known about this One Piece game, as of right now, but by judging by the trailer it looks as though it will focus heavily on the adoptive brothers Luffy, Ace, and Sabo; each of which being heavily present showing off their fierce fighting …

5 Things We Learned From One Piece

With over 700 episodes having aired of the epic shonen anime series One Piece, it is bound to have taught us a thing or two right? Despite its high seas fantasy world and eccentric cast of characters, One Piece has a lot of basis in real world scenarios and emotion with more than a fair share of life lessons to dish out. Here are five things that we learned from over 700 episodes of the anime phenomenon that is One Piece. 5. Strength comes in all shapes and sizes. While Luffy may be able to get a boost of strength with Gear Second, strength isn’t always about sheer power and force but the bravery shown and the courage to go on through the hardest of times. Usopp may not be the most physically strong Straw Hat Crew member but when it comes to fighting for what he believes in he puts his fears aside and fights with courage in his heart. 4. People can change. Sometimes people aren’t what they first appear to be. They …

Hands-On With One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 At SMASH! 2015

Bandai Namco Entertainment has a fairly sizeable presence at most, if not all, good pop culture conventions, and that includes Sydney’s very own SMASH! (Sydney Manga and Anime Show). The convention plays host to an abundance of great upcoming additions to Japanese pop culture and there’s nothing more loved in Japanese pop culture than that of Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece; a series that has been running since 1997 and still continues to run in the modern age of Anime and Manga. Bandai Namco Entertainment, this year, had somewhat of a smaller booth, but it was constantly filled to the brim with people wanting to get even the slightest glimpse of a couple of the publisher’s upcoming games, one of them being One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3, which I was lucky enough to get a chance to experience first-hand. What’s there to say about One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 that hasn’t already been said about the first two games? Honestly…nothing, but I think I’ve come to realise that it’s not really a bad thing. The way I …

J-Stars Victory Vs+ – PlayStation 4 Review

Have you ever thought about the ramifications of Goku’s Kamehameha going up against Yusuke Urameshi’s Spirit Gun? When two unstoppable forces collide, the destruction caused by it is immense. Now think, what if a powerhouse like Naruto Uzumaki went head-to-head with a speed demon like Ichigo Kurosaki. Which would win; Uzumaki’s Rasengan of Kurosaki’s Getsuga Tensho? Disregarding the millions of dollars worth of collateral damage, who would come out on top? Questions like this are constantly thrown across tables of like-minded pop culture fans all discussing their favorite characters from their favorite pieces of media, each with their own theories regarding who would best who in combat. Usually those questions can never be answer, but it is with the release of crossover fighting titles like J-Stars Victory Vs+ that it all becomes just a little bit clearer. Not since the Japan-only Nintendo DS title Jump Ultimate Stars have we seen this many Shonen Jump heroes and villains come together to throw down in the combined arena. Ever since it was announced for a Japanese release, Western …

Yo! – One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 Western Release Date Announced

Having possessed only a vague release window until now, fans of the Straw Hats might be happy to know that the game now has an official release date…fans of other pirate crews can also be happy about this fact, it’s not just as Straw Hat exclusive. For those who live in the Americas, August 25th is the date to mark, with those in Europe, Australasia and the Middle East having to wait an additional three days, making August 28th the dawn of this third pirate warrior endeavour. Now, whilst it’s certainly beneficial to know this, it is still quite a wait until this game begins its life in our respective collections. So, to tide you over (that’s a little nautical humour for you) why not enjoy the latest trailer? It’s the one just down the page a little bit…the one that’s currently staring at you with its piercing, shark eyes. -30-

J-Stars Victory Vs+ – One Piece and Saint Seiya Trailers Released

J-Stars Victroy Vs+ is only two months away from getting released down here in the West! Can you believe that? I only ask because, to be honest…I don’t think even I can! When I first heard about this game I was sure it wasn’t going to hit local shores. I was so, so sure of myself! I said to fellow writers Kane Bugeja and Luke Halliday; “there’s no way we’ll see a Western release of this game” and I’ve never felt so good about being so wrong! Are you a fan of One Piece? How about Saint Seiya? Both, you say? Well that’s absolutely fantastic because today bandai Namco Games have released two new trailers for the upcoming game that show off two of Shonen Jump’s most popular series’. As the days roll by and the game gets closer, Bandai Namco games will continue to release more and more trailers which will hopefully prove to everyone watching that this game will be the absolute one to beat. Enough talk out of me! You just want …

New Trailers Released For Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, Pirate Warriors 3 and J-Stars Victory Vs+

Bandai Namco Games have done something a little crazy today; they’ve gone ahead and released a whole bunch of information and assets regarding a few of their top upcoming titles all at once which, for people like me who’s job it is to report on this news, has me in a bit of a frantic state. Somewhat because I have to write up this news and somewhat because I’m very much excited about the new trailers that have just been released. While I could’ve done three seperate articles for these new videos, I decided against it because, well, they all actually have something in common that isn’t just that they’re Bandai Namco titles. Fans of Shonen Jump Anime and Manga wills urely be fans of the video game titles that Bandai Namco Games release because, in case you have no idea, a lot of their games are indeed based on Anime or Manga, especially that of Shonen Jump. Series’ like Naruto, Bleach, Saint Seiya, they all have their games published by Namco Bandai. About a …

Bandai Namco Games Announces “One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 – Doflamingo Edition”

Both Bandai Namco’s “One Piece: Pirate Warriors 1” and “One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2” were huge successes the world over. There are many people, some who aren’t even fans of Anime as a whole, that absolutely adore the adventures of Luffy and crew as they sail around the world of “One Piece” finding new enemies to defeat and new citizens to save. This is why the “One Piece” range of video games does so well! Bandai Namco knows this and because of just how well-received their games are, they always like to give their fans just a little bit more to enjoy with the release of a new title. You know that “One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3” is on the verge of being released but what you may not know is that Bandai Namco Games Australia have just announced both a special edition of the upcoming game as well as some pre-order bonuses one can nab just for getting in early. This special video game package is titled the “Doflamingo Edition” and, while obviously coming …

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 – Luffy, Law, Doflamingo, Fujitora Gameplay Videos Released

Yo! By now you surely know that there’s another “One Piece” video game on the way right? Of course! The third in the series of “Pirate Warriors” brawlers is set for a release in both Japan and the West this year, and the Publishers of the upcoming title Bandai Namco Games have just released another set of gameplay trailers that each focus on a different character. This isn’t strange for Bandai Namco Games who are constantly giving the pop culture world pieces of pre-release media like screenshots and videos. “Pirate Warriors 3” will feature the same gameplay mechanics fans of the series have come to know and love but, for the sake of those who HAVE played all the games in the series, it will also feature some updated features so that the game doesn’t come across as boring. With a whole new character roster and some awesome-looking graphics, it’s a little hard to pass up what will hopefully be the best “One Piece” video game to date. There is no specific Western release date …

This New Batch of Screenshots Have Proven That One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 Is Going To Rock!

Bandai Namco Games, like usually, have today done us all a pretty awesome solid. Like any good video game publisher they’ve gone ahead and released and amazingly huge batch of fresh screenshots from their upcoming PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita action/adventure game “One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3”. This series has only gotten better and better thanks to Bandai Namco’s ability to listen to the fans of the games and these new screenshots SHOULD prove to you that the new title is going to be one of the most memorable “One Piece” games of all time. Not only does it have an outstanding playable character roster, it also happens to feature most (if not all) of the “One Piece” story for you to play through as well as some of the best graphics we’ve seen in a “One Piece” game to date. Alongside some high resolution screenshots, Bandai Namco Games also released a few key character visuals to burn into your retinas. “Pirate Warriors 3” is set for a release in Japan this March on …

One Piece: Super Grand Battle! X – More Amiibo Costumes Revealed

A few days ago, fellow SnapThirty writer Kane Bugeja reported on a piece of news that detailed the newly released “One Piece: Super Grand Battle! X” fighting game’s ability to use the recently released line of Amiibo intractable figurines to change the costumes of certain characters to resemble the character model connected to the game. Luffy can be dressed up as Mario and Luigi, Zolo can be dressed as Link and Sanji can be dressed as Fox McCloud. Well, Nintendo and Bandai Namco Games have gone ahead and revealed the rest of the Straw Hat crew and their Amiibo costumes and they’re looking just as good, if not better, than the ones revealed three days ago. In the image you can see Nami as the Wii Fit Trainer, Franky as Donkey Kong, Brooks as Marth, Chopper as Kirby and Robin as Samus Aran. As of right now, this game has only been announced for Japan and has already been made available in the great country. We don’t know whether or not the game is going to get …

‘One Piece: Super Grand Battle X’ is the First Non-Nintendo Game to Feature Amiibo, Thanks Bandai Namco!

Bandai Namco will be the first third-party developer to make use of Nintendo’s blockbuster success of the Amiibo figures by implementing them into the upcoming One Piece game, One Piece: Super Grand Battle X. The game is slated for the 3DS and will make use of the New 3DS’ Amiibo functionality by bringing the colourful world of Nintendo into the One Piece realm with unlockable costumes and abilities for the Straw Hat Crew. While it appears that there isn’t any plans as of yet to bring this to the West, Bandai Namco are really breaking down the door when it comes to taking advantage of this incredible technology. With potential for other developers to jump in on the fun, the possibilties are endless. Thanks must be given to Bandai Namco for taking a leap of faith on this intriguing new tech. I hope to see it put to more use by third party devs because damn would an Amiibo friendly RPG game be awesome or what? Tales Of Amiibo anyone? -30-

One Piece Film: Z Review

Everybody has a dream. That specials something that they strive for with all of their heart. The self proclaimed goal of their life. But what happens when dreams clash? People are not alone in the world and as a result desires overlap, contradict in the most unwanted ways and threaten to cease. So what do you do when faced with such an antithesis? Do you spare yourself the pain and give in? Or do you throw all of your faith into your own strength, and fight to the bitter end? For as long as One Piece has existed, Marines and Pirates have opposed each other. The ultimate battle between unbridled freedom and respectful adherence to the law. But what of those that fall between these sides? How do those who do not believe wholeheartedly in either side act? Well, in Z’s case it’s violently…very, very violently. Driven to extremism through a series of traumatic events, Z stands as the self appointed head of the Neo Marines, a group with one simple goal: the eradication of all …

Sabo To Feature As Playable Character In Upcoming One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3

While I was always fairly excited to get my hands on the upcoming “One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3” game, I’ve never been more excited than I am right now thanks to this! Fans of the series, both Anime and Manga, will know that the hero of the story, Luffy, has two adoptive brothers; Ace and Sabo. Those not too invested in the series may know who Ace is because he’s in every single piece of “One Piece” media but they may not know who Sabo is. Those up do date with the story will know who this mysterious young man is and also just how damn awesome he can be…especially in a fight. Recently re-introduced into the main story as a man once thought dead, Sabo comes to the aid of his brothers, both dead and alive, as the Chief of the Revolutionary Army; a title he will wear well in the upcoming “Pirate Warriors” game seeing as he’s going to be in it as a playable character. As of right now, all we have …

One Piece: Grand Battle! X – Ten Minute Gameplay Video Released

Oi! You there! Scurvy sea dog! Did I just hear you say you want to see MORE gameplay of the upcoming Bandai Namco Games 3DS title “One Piece: Grand Battle! X”?! Well that’s good because it turns out Bandai Namco are willing to oblige. It’s a great Thursday because the video game developer/publisher juggernaut has just released a brand-new trailer for the upcoming Shonen Jump video game that goes for a whopping ten minutes. Yep, that means you’ll be seeing ten whole minutes of all new footage from the game and most of it will be gameplay. There’s absolutely nothing better, except for maybe a Western release date which we’re still yet to get. That’s OK though because at least it will be getting a release somewhere and that somewhere just so happens to be Japan…as usual. With a heart full of jealousy I say this; the game is set for a release on the 13th of November which, for those of you following the calendar…is today. This means the video is more for us …

Latest Chapter Of “One Piece” Pays Tribute To Fellow Shonen Jump Series “Naruto”

The long-running Shonen Jump series “Naruto” has finally…come to an end. “Goodbye, old friend!” says fans the world over as the final chapter gets released over in Japan but just because it’s yet to be released in the West doesn’t mean fanatics don’t have their ways of finding themselves a readable copy. Legal or…otherwise. Released in the same issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump is the latest chapter of another critically-acclaimed, long-running Manga series called, as you may already have guessed, “One Piece”. Now it’s known that all Mangaka share a sibling-like bond. Some more than others, obviously, but none like the one between Masashi Kishimoto and Eiichiro Oda. How do I know they’re close? Well, just look at the latest chapter of “One Piece” where the title page is one huge tribute to the now-finished Ninja series. Oda packed in just about as much “Naruto” content into the title page of chapter 766 as he could and it warms the heart. Be it Nami’s “Konohagakure-ispired” dress, the bipedal fox serving them their meal, or …

One Piece: Grand Battle! X – Doflamingo Battle Trailer Released

OK, so, reader…I’m in a little bit of trouble right now. I’ve decided to take my boat out for a spin and it looks like I’ve ventured into dangerous waters. I can hear screaming and chanting from outside and I haven’t bother to stick my head out of my cabin to look just in-case I see something I really shouldn’t have. Luckily I have this super awesome, high-powered internet connection so I can write an article about it. OK, I just looked and I think those sounds are coming from…pirates! Oh no! Not pirates! Anything bu-wait…wait, I think they’re ‘Once Piece’ pirates. That means, that means they’re the good guys! ‘One Piece: Grand Battle! X’ is the upcoming 3DS game based on the Anime/Manga series of similar name. It features a combat system much like that of the older ‘Jump Superstars’ DS title and chibi-style graphics that look as though they pop on the 3D screen of the handheld console. One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 – Tokyo Game Show Trailer Posted Online

Bandai Namco Games alongside Tecmo Koei Games have today released the first trailer for the upcoming ‘One Piece’ video game title ‘Pirate Warriors 3’. Announced about a week ago, the next in the ‘Pirate Warriors’ line of games goes all the way back to the beginning of the ‘One Piece’ series and looks as though it will cover the entire story from the first arc all the way up until the most recent. Bandai Namco Games, at this year’s Tokyo Game Show, showed this trailer to a lucky crowd of people who were fortunate enough to get a spot at their expo panel. Well now, after a week, the video game distributor have released the first trailer online in full HD for everyone not at TGS 2014 to enjoy and we’ve provided it for you below. ‘One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3’ will be the first game from the series to get a release on all current Sony consoles – the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita – and you can expect to see it …

One Piece Ending Revealed to Child Suffering Lung Cancer

Many people have thought about how popular Shonen Jump pirate manga One Piece could possibly end and until now the only man who know the answer to that has been the creator himself Eiichiro Oda. Now we can say that another person knows the ending to the shonen epic, that person is none other than young Hinati Fujinami, a life-long One Piece fan who is sadly suffering from terminal lung cancer. JapNation AniManga is reporting that Fujinami was a part of the Make-A-Wish program and had only one wish, that being to know how his favourite manga will end. In an amazing act of kindness, Eiichiro Oda was more than happy to oblige and met with Fujinami in his hospital room to grant his wish. Oda reportedly struggled to hold back his tears upon seeing the condition of the young child, but in a private one on one chat, revealed the rest of the manga and its ultimate ending to the young boy. Following their chat, Fujinami was said to be smiling and crying at …

“One Piece: Super Grand Battle! X” – Second Trailer Released

Want to finally determine who the most powerful ‘One Piece’ character is? I know I do and that’s why I’m so excited for Ganbarion’s upcoming Nintendo 3DS title ‘One Piece: Super Grand Battle! X’, the ‘Jump Super Stars-style’ action brawler that has been said will feature over 80 characters from the long-running series, including originals from it’s many movies. Before Tokyo Game Show which is just around the corner, Ganbarion have decided to release another trailer for the 4-player action title and it rocks ultimate! KABOOM! The developer, known for many ‘Shonen Jump’ video games, will hopefully show more of ‘One Piece: Super Grand Battle! X’ at the upcoming expo but for now they’ve given us a four minute trailer that takes viewers through each and every detailed aspect of the soon-to-be hit video game. Japan will be getting this game on the 13th of November but nothing has been said so far about a Western release. I’m hoping Bandai Namco Games, who have brought out a whole bunch of Anime video game titles including …

Time To Set Sail Once Again! One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 Announced

It was only a matter of time before we’d be hearing this news. Bandai Namco Games alongside their ‘Pirate Warriors’ partners Tecmo Koei Games have just announced their next big ‘One Piece’ video game title ‘One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3’. Yahoo! This news is fantastic and comes as quite a surprise seeing as the Tokyo Game Show is coming up and this writer would have thought they’d have announced it there. One thing we’re keeping up hopes for is that they take the chance to reveal more information about the game at the upcoming video game expo which, considering Bandai Namco and Tecmo Koei’s past experiences, I’m sure they’ll absolutely do! ‘Pirate Warriors 3’ will continue on the same vein as the other two games as it retells the ‘One Piece’ story through mind blowing CG animation and some of the best brawling you’ll find in a contemporary game. The previous game (‘Pirate Warriors 2’) had a heck of a character roster so one can only assume that the new roster will be bigger and …

I know for a fact that Anime fans have been waiting in high anticipation to see what Mr. Burndy World and his antagonistic pirate crew look like, and today the powers at be have finally given us a look at the characters who will test the strength of our mighty pirate hero. What’s even cooler than seeing some new bad guys? How about…new costumes for Luffy and Boa Hancock!? “One Piece: Super Grand Battle! X” Very First Trailer Released

You want a trailer, yeah? Do you think you can handle it?! Oh, you do? Well then, lucky for you because the very first trailer for the upcoming ‘One Piece’ Nintendo 3DS title ‘Super Grand Battle! X’ was just released and, let me tell you; it’s looking damn fine! It was only about two weeks ago that this new game was announced through the Japanese ‘Shonen Jump’ magazine but fans no longer have to drool over simple screenshots of the new game, instead we’ve been gifted a high-octane, battle-heavy trailer that shows all of our favorite ‘One Piece’ characters in their combat element…it even features some that we don’t like. With a whopping 85 characters filling it’s roster, it’s a little hard to skim over this game without being even a little interested in picking it up. Featuring characters from most, if not all, parts of the ‘One Piece’ series (including the movies), this game is looking to be one hell of a brawling title. Similar to ‘Super Smash Bro.’, ‘One Piece: Super Grand Battle! …

One Piece 3D2Y TV Special Announced

As all One Piece fans know, the titular code noted regarding this special saw a pretty substantial time skip in the franchise. Sure we were greeted by a Straw Hat Crew two years improved, but one can’t help but wonder what we missed. Well wonder no more. During the airing of Episode 656, a TV special was announced, titled Ace no Shi wo Koete! Luffy Nakama tono Chikai (Overcoming the death of Ace! Luffy, the oath with his party). As you can assume from said title, the special will focus on Luffy as he trains with Silvers Raleigh. However, do not expect a mere training montage, as a new villain has been introduced. His name: Burndy World or “The Destroyer of the World” if you’d prefer. Having escaped form Level 6 of Impel Down, Burndy is heading straight for Boa Hancock, leaving Luffy to step in once again and save the day. The special itself will run for two hours and will be aired on Fuji TV’s “Premium Saturday” on August 30th at 9:00pm. -30-

Buy Your Very Own Flame-Flame Fruit

Who doesn’t want powers? The ability to do something cool like, for instance, controlling fire. Well now you can be slightly closer to your dream…very slightly. Ok, so it might not actually work like in One Piece, but you can now purchase a replica of Portgas D. Ace’s Flame-Flame Fruit (Mera Mera no Mi). The fruit measures in at approximately 150 mm in diameter, making it a fairly sizeable addition to your anime merchandise collection…or your fruit bowl. The replica itself costs 3,240 yen and ships in December, giving you plenty of time to decide just how badly you want a Devil Fruit of your own. Disclaimer: Do. Not. Eat. Seriously, you won’t gain dominion over fire. Best case scenario you just wind up with a bad taste in your mouth. Worst case scenario… -30-

One Piece: Super Grand Battle! X – First Screenshots Released

Last week a brand-new ‘One Piece’ action title for the Nintendo 3DS was announced and with it came a whole bunch of hype and a community of Anime fans feeling nothing but pure excitement. The game, titled ‘One Piece: Super Grand Battle! X’, is a super stylish brawler title that pits players against players in a way much like the favored ‘Super Smash Bros.’ series. The new game will feature over fifty of your favorite ‘One Piece’ characters, each with their own unique movesets and special techniques that you must master so you can truly become King of the Pirates! Ganbarion, the developers of this new game, unveiled the teaser site for the game just a few days ago and today we’ve been given our very first look at the game through a set of four screenshots that were released by the developer. The new title truly does like similar to that of ‘Super Smash Bros.’ but hopefully audiences will look past it’s similarities and enjoy it for what I can imagine it will be; …

Set Sail With “One Piece: Super Grand Battle X” Just Announced For The Nintendo 3DS

Here I was, settling in, enjoying my copy of ‘One Piece: Unlimited World Red’, thinking to myself; “wow…life can’t get much better than this”. I jump onto the computer to see if any work is to be done and I come across a piece of news straight from Japan’s ‘Jump’ magazine announcing a brand-new ‘One Piece’ video game titled ‘Super Grand Battle X’ for the Nintendo 3DS. I haven’t even been able to finish ‘Unlimited World Red’ and already I’ve been given something to even more excited about! I’m so full of joy that I’m actually on the verge of being angry. ‘One Piece’, why do you haunt me so! The announcement of the upcoming game comes in the form of a magazine scan from, as mentioned above, ‘Jump’ magazine. The scan shows the ‘Straw Hat’ crew in all their chibi glory and also happens to feature some screenshots from the game itself and they look to be sticking with the ‘Super Deformed’ style. Players will be able to choose from 85 of their favorite …

One Piece: Unlimited World Red – “Quest For Money” Paid DLC Announced

Ah yes, the pirate’s life surely is the life for me. You’re off the land, journeying the sea, man, life is pretty free. The pirate’s life…wow, what a life to lead. Bandai Namco Games today announced the first paid DLC for their newly-released ‘One Piece’ multi-platform title ‘Unlimited World Red’ and the ironic thing is that you’ll be paying real money for a mission called ‘Quest For Money’. The mission will have you and your merry band of pirates running about searching for a treasure you could never imagine, not even in your wildest dreams! Is it the treasure of ‘One Piece’? Is this Gol D. Roger’s treasure?! No, but it is a pretty awesome booty to chase…’booty’, is that the right word? From what Namco Bandai have said, you and your friends will be searching for “a massive treasure…of at least a handful of berries”. So…maybe not a ‘massive’ treasure but one that you’ll at least have fun trying to find…right? No, all jokes aside, this DLC sounds like a whole bunch of fun …

SnapThirty Presents: SnapCast Special Edition – “One Piece: Unlimited World Red”

In this bonus SnapCast, Frank and Kane (also Luke) play One Piece: Unlimited World Red. Talk naturally centres on One Piece and the ins and outs of a world populated by pirates. The guys talk favourite characters, plot intricacies and ponder the details of the elusive One Piece itself….then get distracted by a Dragon. So sit back, relax and (hopefully) enjoy three guys playing a beat-em-up about plundering, beast slaying and mice catching. One Piece “3D2Y” Anime Special Announced

When a group of friends spends so much time together, go their seperate ways for a couple of years and eventually come back together more powerful than ever before, you do tend to wonder just what the hell went on during that time. It’s something that ‘One Piece’ fans have an idea of but I’m not sure we’re even close to knowing the full story. According to this newly announced Anime special, there was a lot of training (which we knew), some ruthless fighting (I’m sure we’re all aware of) and an all-powerful pirate lord who almost took over the world…which is something we were never told. Until now. The special, titled ‘One Piece 3DY2 Overcome Ace’s Death! The Oath With Luffy’s Crewmates’, will focus entirely on the two years between the ‘Super Rookies Saga’ and the ‘New World Saga’ with a great deal of the spotlight being put on Luffy’s training. As mentioned above, a new antagonist was announced for this two-hour special, one that is apparantly strong enough to take down the ‘Seven …

One Piece: Unlimited World Red Review

Set sail once again for One Piece, with Bandai Namco’s latest video-game adaptation of the wildly popular One Piece franchise, One Piece: Unlimited World Red. The latest installment looks to expand upon many elements present in past One Piece titles all the while taking it in some different directions. For this review we received a copy of the game on PlayStation 3 and as such our views are based upon that particular version of the game. The first thing that struck me with One Piece: Unlimited World Red was how much inspiration it takes from the Monster Hunter series. It was hard not to be reminded of the epic clashes and quests of Monster Hunter when tackling the Punk Hazard Dragon in an arduous battle. The game incorporates a lot of RPG elements that are highly reminiscent of games like Monster Hunter and the quest elements of the game definitely do mirror those seen in that series. One Piece: Unlimited World Red does have a story mode, but like most One Piece games, the story is …

Heads up, Australia! ‘One Piece – Unlimited World Red’ Hits Our Shores Tomorrow!

Are you all as excited as me about the Australian release of “One Piece – Unlimited World Red”?! Surely any good “One Piece” fan would be, not to say you’re a bad “One Piece” fan just because you’re heart isn’t about to beat out of your chest in such violent anticipation…moving on. It may be my intense love for the wonderful series that has forced me into this almost life-threatening state of anticipation, or it could be that I’m just glad to see that the PlayStation Vita is actually getting some attention…either way; tomorrow is the day that I can finally put my worries away and just get up to some no good pirate mischief. So this game, “One Piece – Unlimited World Red”, what’s so damn good about it? Good question, me. Allow me to explain: Developed by Ganbarion and published by Bandai Namco Games, this “One Piece” title, once again, takes players on the journey of a lifetime as they join the Straw Hat Crew on some familiar adventures. As of right now, …
