Stage of Heroes – Fire Emblem Warriors – Humble Opinions

Long ago, in a far off place, lived a brother and sister, twins, destined to share the burden of ruling their kingdom. As for how monarchically accurate that is, I do not know, but it is what it is and we all have to deal with that. Also, it would seem that calmly ruling a nation does not a good adventure make, and thus the intricacies of wearing a crown are not so much focused on as they are forgotten amidst a horde of monsters whose ultimate goal is seemingly the destruction of everything ever for now real reason other than evil. On the plus side, combating the forces of evil is a pretty solid learning experience for a pair of fledgling royals…because responsibility. Welcome to Aytolis, one of those wonderful fictional kingdoms that has lived in peace and tranquility for an indeterminate amount of sunshine laden years…until now. As it is want to do, the forces of evil descend upon the innocent, transforming the once idyllic landscape into a brutal realm of monsters and …

Hero Tolerance – Lost in Mistranslation Episode 112

It must be tough being a superhero. All that pressure. All those expectations. To live up to an impossible standard and never once falter. That must be why they changed the requirements to simply: Beat the bad guy. Nowadays, a hero can level an entire city as long as a villain gets their comeuppance. Bonus points if said comeuppance includes a very violent impression of an owl. -30-

Truce and Justice – Fire Emblem Warriors Reveals More Characters

I’m not going to waste too much of your time dissecting the formula that is the Warriors franchise. Lots of enemies. Crazy powers. Power fantasy. That’s pretty much it. And whilst that sounds pretty fun to most people who have ever held a controller, it is the skins laid over this formula that draws in the numbers. This time around, it’s Fire Emblem. Though we have known for some time that Falchion (and by extension its wielder) would grace this game with its legendary presence, details beyond have eluded us. “Have” being the operative word. Following the electronic extravaganza that is E3, we are now in the know when it comes to who shall fill out this game’s fine roster. Namely, Fire Emblem Fates shall be represented by Corrin, Xander and Ryoma. So, whether you played Awakening or Conquest, you’ve got one prince to put a smile on your dial and lovely lady Corrin to enjoy. Especially when she does that whole dragon thing she does. Thus, with a new list of old allies, a …

Has ‘Fire Emblem’ Reached Critical Mass?

Yesterday, Nintendo held a special Fire Emblem focused Nintendo Direct conference. During this conference they announced 3 new Fire Emblem titles alongside the previously revealed Fire Emblem Warriors game. With so many Fire Emblem games announced and so many having been released in recent history, one has to ponder the question; has Fire Emblem reached critical mass? Of the announcements were a new mobile game Fire Emblem Heroes, a remake of Fire Emblem Gaiden for the Nintendo 3DS called Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia and a yet to be titled new Fire Emblem game for the Nintendo Switch. Of course this is all hot off the heels of the announcement of Fire Emblem Warriors a musou styled game from Tecmo Koei stalwarts Omega Force. Fire Emblem Heroes is set to hit mobile devices on the 2nd of February and the other titles are set for sometime throughout the rest of the year. That’s not to mention the fact that there will be another line of Fire Emblem amiibos released to tie in with the …

Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE – Review

Fire Emblem and Shin Megami Tensei are two long-running Japanese Role-Playing Game series’ that I never thought would meet each other in this capacity, and yet I’m overjoyed that such a conglomeration has taken place. I remember, in the May of 2014, it was announced that these two beloved series’ would come together to form a singular video game for the Nintendo Wii U. Simply called Fire Emblem X Shin Megami Tensei, my mind raced in anticipation of what this game would be. Alas, none of my assumptions lead me down the road of what we in the West now know to be a video game called “Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE“. It has been a long two years since the announcement of Fire Emblem X Shin Megami Tensei but, like all of us, it is a video game that has come quite a long way. Now released worldwide, fans of both franchises are able to explore the combined wonder of both Fire Emblem and Shin Megami Tensei as they do battle with creatures who’ve come …

Fire Emblem: Fates – Why You Should Purchase All Paths

Intelligent Systems’ latest work of brilliance, Fire Emblem: Fates, has just been released across Australia and New Zealand, and fans living on the underside of the Earth could not be happier to finally get their hands on the game the rest of the world has been enjoying for quite some time now. Few retailers across our great country offered a special edition pack that featured both the Birthright and Conquest editions of the game accompanied by the third path Revelations, this limited edition pack was sold worldwide so chances are no matter where you’re reading from you’re well aware of this incredible release. I, being someone who mostly leaves things to the last minute, never pre-ordered the special edition triple pack, so upon the games release only a few days before the writing of this article I spent most of the morning ringing local retailers in the hopes that someone was silly enough NOT to pick up their pre-order copy. I am hopeful, if anything. Unfortunately I was unsuccessful in my quest, but this experience did …

Two New Gameplay Videos Released For Shin Megami Tense X Fire Emblem

A new ATLUS game is always exciting, especially when it is an addition to the long lineage that is Shin Megami Tensei. The exact same thing can be said for Intelligent Systems’ Fire Emblem series of tactical role-playing games. I’m sure I don’t have to explain why a combination of these two popular video game series’ is going to set the world of Japanese pop culture ablaze with elation. Not only is it self-explanatory, but the recent update of the game’s official website features two new videos that give audiences a glimps at the game in action, showing us all that this is one title to absolutely not miss out on. The story is simple, yet mostly unexplained at this point in time: Basically, you play as a young man who wants to be a popular entertainer of sorts. Your party members; they also want to be entertainers of sorts. Something crazy happens one day and, much like that of Persona, you and your friends come into contact with beings of pure malice called Mirages, …

Megaman, Kirby, Marth and Link Nendoroids Showcased At Wonder Festival 2015

I love waking up to good news, it’s a sign that the day is going to be great, and there’s no better news than what pertains to the Blue Bomber himself; Megaman…as well as a couple others, of course. Over the weekend, Wonder Festival 2015 was held in Chiba, Japan, and like any good pop culture festival of it’s kind, many new items were showcased, but none more exciting than the Nintendo Nendoroids of which this article is about. Megaman, Kirby, Marth (Fire Emblem), Link (Majora’s Mask) and N (Pokemon). Each of these new Nintendo (and Capcom) Nendoroid figurines were shown at the festival to the delight of con-goers and Nintendo fans alike. The Nendoroid line of posable figurines are among some of the world’s most popular, so it makes sense that Nintendo would continue to get them produced. I’m very much excited to see a Megaman figurine featured on the list, but what we have here is a lineup of characters special to many people, so I can only assume there are some of …

Welcome To 2015 – Fire Emblem Fates To Include Same-Sex Relationships

Despite what many people believe, I truly do think we live in a great time. One of unparalleled acceptance that encourages individuality and proper freedom of choice. Though there’s still much to be changed, and many eyes that need opening, I think we’re all doing a pretty good job at making this world safe for almost anyone to live in no matter who they are, where they’re from, and what they do. Nintendo and Intelligent Systems have now hit the same page as the rest of us, announcing that the upcoming Nintendo 3DS title Fire Emblem Fates will indeed feature same-sex relationships, a feature not present in the most recent title Fire Emblem: Awakening. This confirmation comes from an interview Nintendo had with news site Polygon wherein which this was said: “We can confirm that Fire Emblem Fates for Nintendo 3DS, which launches in Japan on June 25, 2015, and is coming to the U.S. and Europe in 2016, includes the possibility for a same-sex marriage to take place between the main character created by …

‘Fire Emblem Fates’ Announced at E3 2015, Two Versions Two Times The Fun

In case you were wondering what they were going to rename Fire Emblem if, we have our answer and it feels like fate. That’s right the new title is Fire Emblem Fates and it is set to crash land early 2016. Nintendo confirmed that there will be two versions of the game as it is in the Japanese release, however they were reluctant to reveal the full names of each version at this time. Oh well, a reveal for another day I suppose. They did however release a really rad trailer that you can check out below. The game looks like it is going to rock the house to the ground when it launches. Stay tuned for more information on what those two versions names will be once it comes to light. -30-

‘Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem’ to be about becoming an Idol in Shibuya?

Details have emerged on the upcoming Wii U title, tentatively referred to as Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem. In a rather surprising turn of events Nintendo have revealed details of the story and setting which do come as rather shocking. Nintendo described the story as a battle between glamour and darkness, with the player being a ‘Mirage Masters’ who dreams of advancing through the entertainment business by singing, acting and the like. There is an apparent evil dimension converging with the real world that they will have to deal with but more interesting is the fact that screenshots seemingly reveal the games setting to be that of Shibuya, Tokyo. So it goes without saying that this is exactly the furthest thing from both Shin Megami Tensei and Fire Emblem, but I trust that Nintendo and friends know what they are doing here. -30-

Looking for a Challenge – Roy and Ryu Officially Join the Super Smash Bros. Roster

Though I’m sure you’ve all heard the news that everyone’s boy Roy, along with newcomer Ryu, were set to join in the cross franchise chaos of Super Smash Bros., said news has now been unequivocally 100% most certainly confirmed. Without a doubt…it’s happening…I think you get the picture. In their special Smash Bros. only E3 press video, Nintendo showcased just how these fighters will dispense their own unique brands of justice against those who are unfortunate enough to cross them. Harkening back to his former move set, Roy will bring some explosive swordsmanship into the fray, bearing similarities to his fellow Fire Emblem representatives. That being said, Roy has apparently spent his days in exile training, bringing with him an increase in power that is sizeable enough for Nintendo to mention…so I’d keep an eye out in battle.  It was also specifically stated that Roy’s sword carries more power towards the base of the blade, so you’ll need to get up close and personal to really deal out the pain. Final Smash wise, Roy brings …

Leaked Videos Confirm Roy And Ryu As Upcoming Playable Characters In Super Smash Bros. For Wii U And 3DS

The Electronic Entertainment Expo, also known as E3, is coming up and with the large event comes a whole bunch of exciting video game news from across the board. Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, they all bring their best to the yearly exhibition which means they usually save the very best news to release it when the whole gaming world is watching, but no company is safe from leaks and the general gaming audience loves it when a huge piece of news drops before scheduled time. Two short videos have now begun circulating the web which show both Ryu from Capcom’s incredibly popular fighting series Street Fighter and Roy from Intelligent Systems‘ famed RPG Fire Emblem going head-to-head with the already sizeable cast of the new Super Smash Bros. title which has been available for the Nintendo Wii U and 3DS for quite some time. These videos have come about thanks to the early release of the game’s next big update which has now been made available in Japan…not on purpose, of course. As with any added content, the …

New Fire Emblem If Characters Revealed – Mercenary, Samurai And A Fox-Eared Man Join The Cast

One of the most anticipated upcoming 3DS titles would have to be Intelligent Systems’ Fire Emblem If, which is what it has been titled in it’s country of origin; Japan. The franchise was reborn not too long ago with the release of Fire Emblem: Awakening; a game that had people fall in love with tactical role-playing games all over again. This is why the new game has people in such an anxious uproar. Set for a release in Japan on the 25th of June, those of us living outside of Japan are going to have to wait until next year to get out hands on what will surely be the Nintendo 3DS’ greatest JRPG title to date. It is fine though…because of the internet: Thanks to this wonder of science, news shared anywhere in the world will travel to all other parts of the world for the rest of the Earth’s population to see. This means any information released regarding Fire Emblem If over in Japan will quickly fall into the laps of those looking for …

Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem Gets Its First Ever Full Trailer

It was revealed a while back that Nintendo and Atlus have been working on a crossover title for the Wii U simply titled “Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem” but soon after it’s announcement it was forced back into the shadows wherein which it has laid in wait…until today. As part of April’s Nintendo Direct Presentation, the video game industry juggernaut debuted the very first trailer for the upcoming game that shows audiences not only the setting of it but the style in which it’ll be developed. With pop art-style graphics and what looks to be a very “Shin Megami Tensai” set of gameplay mechanics, this trailer shocked many who thought this game would be dark-ish in a similar fashion to the series of games that takes precedence over the new one’s title. It looks to be set in Shibuya, an area of Tokyo, and the protagonists seem to be of a schooling age. Despite what it is that we’ve been shown, this game is still mostly a mystery. Apparently the characters all lead normal …

New “Fire Emblem” Game To Get Western Release In 2016

Today saw the airing of the latest Nintendo Direct Presentation which, as you already know, almost always brings about some sort of good news. Today we were given a new look at some of the upcoming Amiibo, it was announced that Lucas will be coming to the new “Super Smash Bros.” as a DLC character, and we were given a bunch more information on the upcoming IP “Splatoon”. Just making the entire presentation better was, without a doubt, the appearance of some new “Fire Emblem” footage which is set to star in the upcoming Nintendo 3DS title that has yet to be named. Alongside what you can only call another teaser trailer is a little bit of information regarding the new game, the most important of all being that it is set to be released in the West sometime next year. Yes, Nintendo are going to make us wait an entire year before we’ll be able to get our hands on this incredible title but it’s always better to look on the bright side so …

Fire Emblem Characters Enter Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. Through the Power of Amiibo

Ok, so you’ve got a fictionalised, steampunk version of dear old London, wherein a turn based strategy game will flourish. You’ve got a cast of characters all taken from American literature, or history, who have been adapted into said world. Cool, sounds pretty finished to me. What’s that? You want more characters to choose from? You know, that’s fair. Well, there’s only one crew that I can think of to throw into this steam powered rendition of American novels: Fire Emblem. Ok, so it might not be the first group I thought of, but it seems like it’s what Nintendo did. Via the sheer sorcery that is the Amiibo system, you can now (or will be able to upon release) tap your figure onto the new 3DS and add to your game. So take a break from Tom Sawyer and give Ike a chance to fight some evil, people like Ike after all. Or bust out someone a little more recent and throw Lucina into the fray, heck even Robin is there. Though no real …

Our Hearts Are Burning! A New “Fire Emblem” Has Just Been Announced

Nintendo, with their presentations, always bring about good news. Never bad news. The latest good news is that there is a new “Fire Emblem” 3DS title on the way and, judging by the trailer that came with the announcement, it’s looking like another fantastic addition to the already brilliant series of video games. This new game that has yet to be named has been in development for quite some time now and features the exact same team that worked on the previous title “Fire Emblem: Awakening”. That’s no surprise though, seeing how will the last game sold, let alone just how damn good it was to play. Yusuke Kozaki is back, once again, to design each of the characters and Shin Kibayashi, a successful Japanese comic book writer, will lend his talents to the story telling side of video game production. It’s obvious that this new gamer is going to rock our socks off but for the sake of first-hand experience I think you should watch the trailer that Nintendo showed last night and that …

Nintendo Announces The Next Wave Of Amiibo Intractable Figures

Last night the first Nintendo Direct presentation of the year aired and with it came some fantastic news that has indicated to as all that 2015 may truly be another ripper of a year for Nintendo. Not that anyone truly thought differently. The Amiibo craze has picked up heavily around the world with most, if not all, players of the new “Super Smash Bro.” literally sprinting out of their houses to grab themselves a figure of their favorite character. Too bad Nintendo has chosen to spot production on certain characters which has now made them extremely hard to find. Heading down to the local store the only characters purchasable now are Mario and Luigi so as soon as you read the news I’m about to type, I suggest you begin making preparations for how you’re going to grab yourself the figures from this new batch. You’re not going to want to miss out. Hitting shelves on April the 24th in Europe and Japan on April the 29th is the next wave of Amiibo figures which …
