Snap Discussion is the weekly round table discussion on a topic relating to Japanese pop culture as selected by the almighty Snapodile. Each week the SnapThirty team will weigh in with their thoughts on that week’s topic all with the hopes of providing some interesting and perhaps even conflicting view points on the matter at hand. AnimeLab Just Announced A Bunch Of New Titles Both Old and New, Everyone Wins!

During their Periscope streamed AnimeLab press conference at Supanova Perth, AnimeLab announced several brand new titles being added to the popular streaming service. Titles are being added both to the back catalogue of the site as well as some upcoming Summer season simulcasts. As far as adding to the backlog, AnimeLab announced several oldschool and newschool series. Rather interesting was the announcement that the wildly popular shojo series Cardcaptor Sakura would be hitting the service. The series was a huge hit down under and remains a fan favourite all these years on. The series will hit the service in its entirety in sub only with potential for the films at a later date. Also announced is the Rumiko Takahashi fantasy epic, Inuyasha. A classic title in every regard, Inuyasha’s first 165 episodes are hitting the service with the rest to be released periodically until its completion. Again this is another big get for AnimeLab. Sports anime fans also had reason to be excited with the announcement that Haikyuu and Free! Eternal Summer will be joining …

Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker – More Information On The “Durarara!!” Crossover Released

About a week ago, through the Japanese video game magazine “Famitsu”, a screenshot from the upcoming ATLUS RPG remake “Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker” was shown alongside some information that detailed a crossover between this game and the Anime/Light Novel series “Durarara!!” that has three of the more popular and powerful characters appearing as demons. Not much was said in the short description of the crossover, all that had been said was that the characters would appear in the game but what you could do with them still remained somewhat a mystery. ATLUS has, over the weekend, released two new trailers for “Record Breaker”: One goes over the StreetPass functionality of the remake while the other happens to tell audiences a little more about what we can expect from the crossover. Celty, Izaya and Shizuo will appear in “Record Breaker” as powerful demons that you can obtain through the Nintendo 3DS’ SpotPass functionality much like what has been implemented in the last few “Pokemon” video games. “Why?”, you ask? Because it’s freaking awesome, that’s why! No, no, there’s a pretty legitimate reason as to why “Durarara!!” characters would appear in “Record Breaker”, we’ll get to that very soon. So there’s a new “Devil Survivor” game on the way and it goes by the name “Record Breaker”. This “new” game is basically an updated version of the original “Devil Survivor 2” but for the Nintendo 3DS which in and of itself is pretty damn exciting but today the internet has been set ablaze with news that the popular characters Celty Sturluson, Izaya Orihara and my personal favorite Shizuo Heiwajima from the series “Durarara!!” are set to make an appearance in the upcoming game alongside hundreds of demons from the “Shin Megami Tensei” series of which “Record Breaker” is a part of. Why mention the demons, Frank? Well the picture we’re shown of Celty in-game happens to feature all of her stats which can mean a couple of things: Either these characters are going to be obtainable as demons or fightable as enemies …

With the Winter 2015 anime season imminent, we will be taking a look through the best and worst upcoming series set to premiere this season. We will be detailing which series you should watch, which series you should consider and which series you should avoid all means necessary. Watch These are the series that look to be the cream of the crop, these are the series that you must watch: Death Parade (Madhouse, January 10th) In 2014 we were treated to something rather unique in the anime world, a billiards anime. Now here we stand at the threshold of 2015 with that very same OVA now getting a full fledged series. Death Billiards (as the OVA was known) was a suspenseful thriller that saw two unlikely bar flies finding themselves wrapped up in the most important game of bar room billiards of their lives. “Durarara!! Relay” PlayStation Vita Game Gets Its First Trailer

Never have I heard someone say “Oh yeah, I think maybe I’ve seen TOO much Durarara!!”. Never! Those words simply do not make sense in sequence because, really, you can never have TOO much “Durarara!!” which is great because today Kadokawa Games have released the very first trailer for the upcoming visual novel/adventure title “Durarara!! Relay”. This new PlayStation Vita game will take audiences on a wild ride through the busy streets of Ikebukuro, allowing them to experience some of the wonderful city’s stories, the types of stories not seen in the Anime but, from what I can tell, are all very much “canon” to the universe of the series. As a player, you’ll follow a whole bunch of your favorite characters as the dash around town getting into all sorts of trouble and trying to figure their way out of it. So far, the game has only been announced for Japan but I can imagine all “Durarara!!” fans hoping and praying for a release outside of the great country. “Durarara!! Relay” is set to …
