Big Hero 6 – New Trailer Released + Manga Series Announced

‘Big Hero 6’, for those of you unaware, is a newly-announced Disney movie based off a Marvel comic from many years ago. Despite it clearly being a Western concept, the setting for ‘Big Hero 6’ is laced with Japanese-style visuals and themes so I believe it has earnt it’s place somewhere within the nation’s pop culture world. Back in May we were delivered the very first trailer for the film but it was looked at as more of a teaser trailer than anything else with no actual story being outlined within.

Today though, not only do we have the first official trailer for the movie but we also have a confirmed cast list and some news regarding an actual Manga adaptation of the film. The trailer semi-introduces the main antagonist of the film who I will simply refer to as ‘Kabuki Mask’, seeing as that is basically what he’s called throughout the trailer. The film is actually looking to be brilliant!

Alongside the release of the new trailer comes news of Manga adaptation of the film, as mentioned above. The Mangaka in charge of the new series is Haruki Ueno who you may know wrote ‘Exile Monogatari’. The first chapter of the Manga is set to be released in Japan on the 6th of August as part of the latest Weekly Shonen Magazine issue with a follow up chapter featuring in the August 20th issue of Kodansha’s Magazine Special. Mark down the 7th of November on your calendars because that’s the day ‘Big Hero 6’ will be getting it’s North American release with it to start it’s theatrical run in around the world some time after that.
