Tekken 7 Announcement Trailer Unveiled

Well who saw this one coming? Probably a great deal of fighting fans in the world who were moreso hoping for a new ‘Tekken’ game rather than simply anticipating. It was announced at this year’s Evolution Championship Series (a.k.a ‘EVO’) that ‘Tekken 7’ is now in development and has been for a little while at this point in time. Alongside the announcement came the teaser trailer for the upcoming fighter which, unfortunately, showed absolutely nothing of the actual game but set up a pretty serious storyline. Now the teaser does happen to feature the words ‘the final battle’ quite close to the end but I’m not so sure this will be the last ‘Tekken’ game. It’s a series that has lasted this long, I highly doubt it is going anywhere anytime soon. The game is supposedly being created through the Unreal Engine 4 which game producer Katsuhiro Harada had a little bit to say about:

The power and flexibility means that we can focus our efforts on making Tekken 7 the best possible game without worrying about spending time creating a stand-alone graphic engine. With Unreal Engine 4, we could rapidly achieve visual quality expected on next-gen platform and go beyond it. Not only is Unreal Engine 4 powerful and easy to use, but it allows us to immediately bring Tekken 7 to any platform we desire. – Katsuhiro Harada

There’s no footage from the game, there’s no actual release date for the game and, as far as we know, the game still has a long way to go regarding development. My assumption is that we’ll be seeing it sometime next year but I’m usually wrong about these types of things so I wouldn’t suggest you go entirely off my word. Word is that we’ll be seeing more of ‘Tekken 7’ at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con which is coming up at the end of this month so stay tuned for that! In the meantime, check out the teaser trailer below. That should scratch your ‘Tekken’ itch.
