Mecha Naruto To Make An Appearance In Anime Special

It’s not as sexy as ‘Attack Of The 50 Foot Woman’, I’ll say that much.

We all love ‘Naruto’. Even if you hate Naruto, you still love…’Naruto’. Sentences like this don’t entirely work when the main character has the same name as the series but I’m going to just push through it anyway. I’ve met many fans of the hit Shonen Jump series ‘Naruto’ in the past that, while in love with the series, don’t entirely like the main character. I happen to be one of those people but I pride myself on being able to see the good as well as the bad, even if the bad is a ninja wearing a bright orange jumpsuit. There isn’t anything ‘stealthy’ about that.

If you’ve been following recent news you may be aware that there is a brand-new ‘Naruto’ fighting game heading to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 very soon. It’s a game called “Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution’ and it features a new playable character that stands out above the rest. While you, reader, may be excited about throwing done as one of the past Hokages or maybe as one of the newly announced antagonists, there are many people out there who are high anticipation of the new Naruto.

If you’re like me and not a fan of the human Naruto than maybe you’ll like the new and improved ‘Mecha Naruto’. Yes, it is true! If you missed this news, which was broken a few months ago; basically the new Bandai Namco/CyberConnect2 fighting game features a robot version of Naruto that follows the same ‘power-up’ path as the standard character with the only difference being he’s entirely, well…robotic. This means even his Nine-Tails evolution is mechanical and looks more like a ‘Digimon’ than a ‘Naruto’ character.

Anyway, time to get to the main point of the article: It was just announced that this formerly game-only character will be making an appearance in the ‘Naruto Shippuden’ Anime as a part of a 1-hour special set to air on the 11th of September.

Discussions have already erupted across the web with people contemplating whether or not this character inclusion is ‘canon’ or not with many fans exclaiming that there’s no way it can be. Hayato Date – Director of the ‘Naruto Shippuden’ Anime – did mention that no filler episodes were planned for 2014 (after the ‘Kakashi ANBU special’) so, as you can imagine, people are throwing that around trying to get their point across. I say let’s just enjoy the fact that the showrunners are having a little fun with it. It would be nice to see Mecha Naruto in Anime action, I mean, it couldn’t hurt right?
