“Gangsta” Anime Adaptation Officially Announced

Japan today received the latest volume Kohske’s (the series’ mangaka) hit Seinen Manga series ‘Gangsta’ and with it’s release came news of an official Anime adaptation that is apparently already in the works. Any true fan of this site would have already listened to the first episode of our official Podcast titled ‘Gangsta’s Paradise‘ wherein which we spoke in great detail about this Manga which has only been available in Australia for a couple of months, unlike Japan where it has already reached it’s sixth volume.

It’s no mystery that the writers of this site have a great love for the Manga series and we’ve all kicked into a state of high anticipation for what is to come in the ‘Gangsta’ Anime adaptation. Alongside the actual announcement of the new Anime series, it was also revealed that the voice actors of the three main characters will reprise their roles from the previously released ‘Gangsta’ drama CD which was only ever released in Japan:

Junichi Suwabe (Grimmjow from Bleach, Dandy from Space Dandy, Greed from FMA) as Worick Archangelo.

Kenjiro Tsuda (Spitfire from Air Gear, Mifune from Soul Eater, Spanner from Hitman Reborn) as Nicholas Brown.

Mamiko Noto (Oichi from the Sengoku Basara series, Fuka from Persona 3, Jun from the Tekken series) as Alex Benedetto.

As of right now, information is pretty scarce so we don’t have much to go on apart from what has just been detailed. I’m satisfied simply knowing that an Anime adaptation of one of my favorite Manga series’ is on it’s way and I’m hoping that you, reader, are feeling the same! What’s next for ‘Gangsta’? Who knows! It is a series that has been so well received, anything is possible! Personally…I’m hoping for a live-action adaptation next but, well, we’ll just have to wait and see.

In the city of Ergastulum, a shady ville filled with made men and petty thieves, whores on the make and cops on the take, there are some deeds too dirty for even its jaded inhabitants to touch. Enter the “Handymen,” Nic and Worick, who take care of the jobs no one else will handle. Until the day when a cop they know on the force requests their help in taking down a new gang muscling in on the territory of a top Mafia family. It seems like business (and mayhem) as usual, but the Handymen are about to find that this job is a lot more than they bargained for. – VIZ Media Synopsis
