GACKT Casually Enters Championship Poker Tournament, Ends in 7th Place

In the continued adventures of legendary visual kei superstar GACKT, he has casually entered into a championship poker tournament known as the Asian Poker Tour. Outside of being a wildly successful Japanese musician and revolutionizing the visual kei genre over nearly 20 years in the business, GACKT had also recently begun his own Youtube gaming channel where he would play video games mostly in silence while surrounded by a selection of expensive vehicles. That said, it still comes as a surprise that GACKT has suddenly revealed himself as a world class poker player entering this tournament without warning or fanfare, for reasons only known to him. Perhaps more interesting to note is that out of 96 entrants he placed 7th, winding up in the top 10 poker players in all of Asia. It is crazy to think that along with the many of projects that GACKT is working on, he still manages to find the time to engage in a high-stakes poker tournament, because that is the kind of thing he just does. In my …

Bushiroad are continuing to prove themselves as the global champions of trading card games with the ongoing success of franchises like Cardfight Vanguard and Weiss Schwartz alongside the newfound breakout hits of Future Card Buddyfight and Luck & Logic. At MadFest 2016, Bushiroad were one of the major sponsors of the event and even held the annual Bushiroad Global Championships right here at the event in Melbourne. The championships saw hundreds of cardfighters enter the fray with hopes of becoming the global champion of their respective TCG, be it Vanguard, Buddyfight, Weiss Schwartz or Luck & Logic. For those uninitiated in the variety of TCG that Bushiroad produce they also had a ‘how to play’ booth where experts from Bushiroad would teach you how to play any of the games you were interested in. The most popular game this time around seemed to be Luck & Logic which of course is coming hot on the heels of the brand new anime tie-in currently streaming on AnimeLab. Not only that but Bushiroad’s booth had a lot …

Australian Retailer EB Games To Premiere The Legend Of Zelda Trading Card Game

Most big franchises have their own TCG: MegaMan, Pokemon, Dragon Ball Z, Yo-Kai Watch, each of these fan-favorite franchises has their very own collectable Trading Card Game. Playing With Our Decks – Learning To Play Future Card Buddyfight At SMASH! 2015

Long-time readers of the site will know that the SnapThirty crew are particularly fond of modern trading card games. While we’ve not got the time nor money to experience each and every different series, we take every chance we get to try and learn something and partake in something new. Last year’s Sydney Manga and Anime Show (SMASH!) introduced us to the wild world of Bushiroad’s Cardfight!! Vanguard, but this year we decided to try something a little different; another of Bushiroad’s popular series’, a game called Future Card Buddyfight, and thanks to the wonderful hosts of the weekend-long workshop…it was hard not to fall in love with. SMASH! always accommodates for the TCG-loving community of Sydney. Not a year goes by wherein which Trading Card Games are left out of the celebrations of the young convention, and the stage is always set up for the enjoyment of the masses; both new and season card gamers alike. Us, being casual adopters of the TCG lifestyle, were made to feel perfectly welcome despite the number of …

Bushiroad Booth, Playing Cards With Buddies – EB Expo 2014

Card Games Enthusiasts were out in full force at EB Expo 2014, with the bustling Bushiroad booth booming with business and Cardfighters getting down to business. The big hit card game of EB Expo was undoubtedly the newest game on the scene, FutureCard Buddyfight. I rocked up to the booth and noticed immediately that their was a Cardfight Vanguard tournament taking place later during the day with a huge gold trophy going to the victor. Knowing that I suck at Cardfight Vanguard I aptly decided not to sign up for fear of being squashed by the mighty fist of a Cardfight master. Instead I set my eyes on FutureCard Buddyfight and was given a tutorial by the cool dudes from Oz Animart. Upon beginning my tutorial game I learned that Buddyfight has a lot of similarities to Vanguard however there are some significant differences present. In particular the game’s gauge system and Buddy Call abilities. I got the feeling that Buddyfight is a more simplified version of Vanguard. While Vanguard relies on heavy strategic play, …

Let’s Go, Buddy! Trading Card Games invade SMASH! 2014

Stand up, my Vanguard! Let’s go, Buddy! It’s time to duel! Pokemon, Go! Those were the battle-cries heard at SMASH! 2014 in Sydney at the Rosehill Gardens during the weekend’s intense Trading Card Game tournaments which wowed attendees and captivated them with the intensity of play on show from these skilled TCG players. The TCG booth as it were was decorated head to toe in the latest TCG craze, Future Card Buddyfight, the newest Card Game from Bushiroad, the people who have brought us Cardfight Vanguard and Weiss Schwartz. It was quite clear that Buddyfight was going to make quite the impact considering how heavily it was being promoted at the event. While Buddyfight did prove to be a popular new game among players at the TCG booth, it was evident that the real star of the show was Cardfight Vanguard, the clear fan favourite. The Vanguard tournament was a real barn-burner with intense battles that would cause you to break a sweat just by watching it. The participants all cardfought their hearts out and all …

SnapThirty Presents: Two Idiots Play “Cardfight!! Vanguard”

Ever since the creation of man, we’ve each tried to be the best at something. Every generation has something to pin their name to, and with that comes many individuals who long to be revered as the very best in their particular fields. Luke Halliday, on the other hands, doesn’t care too much for that. He doesn’t long to be the the king of something, he doesn’t bother with silly details like titles or ranks. Luke Halliday, instead, feeds off of the life force of others whom he beats in menial activities like walking, running and even, to a certain degree, breathing. It’s the little victories that count for this man and that is why he decided to challenge me, Frank Inglese, to a couple games of the highly-acclaimed card game ‘Cardfight!! Vanguard’. Mr. Halliday was well-aware that I had no ‘Cardfight!! Vanguard’ playing experience and saw this as an opportunity to squeeze me out of the game before I could even think about becoming attached to it. Another glorious win for him! in all …
