Winter 2016 Anime Season Watch Guide

Alright folks, Halliday-senpai is back once again to knowledge you up on what to watch this anime season. As always I won’t be commenting on an anime series if it’s not on my personal radar, but if you feel I’ve overlooked something pretty fantastic let me know the error of my ways in the comments section. That said, I will be listing what I think is worth a look in for Winter 2016. So without further adieu, here is SnapThirty’s handy Winter 2016 anime season watch guide. ERASED (A-1 Pictures) Boku Dake ga Inai Machi known in English as ERASED is the latest series to air in the noitaminA anime block. It comes with a lot of expectations for a number of reasons, whether it be that it is an adaptation of a fantastic manga series or that it is airing in such a prestigious timeslot which was shared by many modern anime classics. Fortunately for ERASED it lives up to expectations and blows every other series this season out of the water. With a killer premise and …

Fall 2015 Anime Season Watch Guide

Okay so I am a little late to the party this time around with my watch guide but hey I have at least watched some of the series this time so this is a guide of a different kind of flavour. Rather than being based simply on how things look from the outside, this will be more of an inside look after having watched some of the series this season. I will be listing what I think is worth a look in for Fall 2015. So without further adieu, here is SnapThirty’s handy Fall 2015 anime season watch guide.   Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans (Sunrise) Gundam is back, baby! Iron-Blooded Orphans may just be one of my favourite anime this season, kicking off with a barn burner of a premiere episode that hit all the right notes while setting the stage for what is sure to be one hell of an anime series. Not only does this series showcase all the things that make the Gundam franchise so damn good but it also breaks …

Summer 2015 Anime Season Watch Guide

It’s been a year since I did my first anime season watch guide and I have been gradually tweaking the formula through each of the last 4 installments but I think it is time for a more simplified approach. If you have been reading my previous entries you may have mixed feelings about this approach but I feel it ultimately will give every show covered a fair go in comparison to assumptions and hearsay. This time around I’ll simply be listing the shows that have caught my eye and giving some thoughts on each listed. So without further adieu, here is SnapThirty’s handy Summer 2015 anime season watch guide. Gangsta (Manglobe, July 2nd) Without a doubt the most obvious standout in what is seemingly a rather lightweight season of anime. The Gangsta series is based upon a cult-classic seinen manga series and has received critical acclaim including a series of rave reviews from our site’s own Frank Inglese. The series follows Nic and Worick a pair of ‘Handymen’ who handle the jobs no one else will. In …

Spring 2015 Anime Season Watch Guide

With the Spring 2015 anime season just kicking off, we will be taking a look through the best and worst series set to premiere this season. We will be detailing which series you should watch, which series you should consider and which series you should avoid by all means necessary. So without further adieu, here is SnapThirty’s handy Spring 2015 anime season watch guide. Watch These are the series that look to be the cream of the crop, these are the series that you must watch: Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma (J.C. Staff, April 3rd) We’ve had anime about cooking before, but nothing quite like Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma. Based upon the Shonen Jump series of the same name, Food Wars takes cooking to JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure levels of over-the-top insanity. In traditional Shonen Jump style, Soma Yukihira dreams of being the greatest cook ever and in order to do that he must surpass his father who is pretty much the raddest cook in the world. With the perfect mix of exciting cooking scenes and delightfully playful fan-service, Food …

So without further adieu, here is SnapThirty’s handy Winter 2015 anime season watch guide. Watch These are the series that look to be the cream of the crop, these are the series that you must watch: Death Parade (Madhouse, January 10th) In 2014 we were treated to something rather unique in the anime world, a billiards anime. Now here we stand at the threshold of 2015 with that very same OVA now getting a full fledged series. Death Billiards (as the OVA was known) was a suspenseful thriller that saw two unlikely bar flies finding themselves wrapped up in the most important game of bar room billiards of their lives. Now that same concept will become a full length series. What possibilities await leaves me highly curious for this upcoming …

Watch These are the series that look to be the cream of the crop, these are the series that you must watch: The Seven Deadly Sins (A-1 Pictures, October 5th) Based upon the popular Shonen Magazine manga of the same name, The Seven Deadly Sins has built a significant following for itself, leading to some pretty major anticipation for this anime adaptation. The series follows Meliodas, the leader of the Seven Deadly Sins, a ragtag band of assassins who must help Princess Elizabeth reclaim her kingdom from the sinister Holy Knights who have taken control and oppress the masses. It is a traditional shonen adventure in every sense but with its unique medieval setting and straightforward approach, there …

Watch These are the series that look to be the cream of the crop, these are the series that you must watch: Terror in Resonance (Studio MAPPA, July 11th) Shinichiro Watanabe is back with a psychological thriller and it is called Terror in Resonance. The series focuses on a mysterious terrorist attack on Japan. When the only clue to the culprit is a vague online video, the population is left with few answers regarding the attack and the entire nation is left feeling one thing: terror in resonance. The series itself looks great and marks the second Watanabe work to come through Studio MAPPA following 2012’s Kids on the Slope. With a concept such …
