The Great Splatoon Heist Of 2015 – Shipment Of New Title Stolen Before Reaching UK Retailer

When you’ve been waiting for a video game as long as a lot of us have been waiting for Splatoon, you tend to get a little crazy with excitement and anticipation. Most gamers will trust that their pre-orders will be fulfilled on the day of release but certain individuals, me included, tend to worry a little bit as the day gets closer. Though not usually the case, it’s thoughts of inability to provide that which we’ve already paid for that plagues our thoughts. In the UK, this worry is all too real for those who have pre-ordered the Splatoon + Squid Inkling Amiibo pack from certain Game stores seeing as, well…shipments of it have been stolen.

A truck containing a huge quantity of this item has gone missing between Nintendo’s European warehouse and many Game stores across the UK, sending the game-loving population across the sovereign state into a frenzy. Nintendo has already made their first statement:

“We regret to inform you that the lorry transporting the Splatoon stock from Nintendo’s European warehouse to Game UK has been stolen.”

“Included in this delivery was our allocation of the Splatoon + Squid Inkling Amiibo.

“As a result, we are unable to honour your original pre-order due for deliver on the 29th of May 2015.”

Now while Danny Ocean and the rest of his thirteen are busy finding a place to properly stash the cargo, those working in Game stores across UK will have their hands full giving refunds and replacing pre-orders with other items. Because of this, the video game retailer will not be able to completely fulfill the requests of those who’ve pre-ordered so they are offering something a little different to hopefully quell the rage of Splatoon fans in the UK: Rather than the Splatoon + Amiibo pack, buyers will be offered a standard copy of the game with either the Inkling Boy or Inkling Girl Amiibo. Fact is; it’s the Squid Inkling they all want because it is only available in the combo pack, so no-one will truly be satisfied. They’re also offering a discount of £10 as an apology for this unforeseen turn of events.

Game UK seems as though they’re doing their best to keep everyone as happy as possible even offering buyers the chance to cancel their copy of the game to just purchase the Squid Inkling Amiibo on its own. Some, I’m sure, will wait for the next shipment but others, well they will search high and low for another pack and will not rest until it is in their grasp.
This truly is an incredible story, especially seeing as something like this simply hasn’t happened before. To add insult to injury; Splatoon happens to be one of the most anticipated games of the year and the Amiibo to come with it will be one of the rarest items released. I’d like to think the thieves understand the popularity of the game and the rarity of the interactive toy that comes with it, knowing they can make quite a great deal of money when they choose to re-sell it, though we’re simply not sure about that. Either way, many people are disappointed and will remember this is the day their Squid Inlink Amiibo was taken from them.
