First Promotional Video Released For Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters 3DS Game

Being one hell of a big Digimon fan, it’s days like this one that remind me it’s good to be alive. Waking up this morning to discover that Bandai Namco Entertainment have released the very first proper promotional video for their upcoming Nintendo 3DS game Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters signifies, to me, the beginning of what is looking to be a fantastic day. Up until this point in time, most of what Bandai have shown audiences around the world are teaser trailers, promotional images, and vague videos simply explaining that Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters is going to be a multi-platform project like no other. This has all changed with the release of a the game’s first sizeable promotional video.

As you may already be aware; the upcoming game is a light RPG that revolves around building a deck of Applimon that can be applied in battle in several different ways. Choosing a main Applimon, players are tasked with building a deck around it so as to make it more powerful in-battle. As in Digimon fashion, the Digivolution aspect of the long-running series has not been shoved aside for some other mechanic, though instead of an Applimon Digivolving in and of itself, it must be fused with a corresponding Applimon, as we have seen with Dogatchimon.

Despite the video’s four and a half minute runtime, audiences aren’t actually let in on any other gameplay elements of the upcoming game. It looks as though, like many other RPGs of it’s type, you will jump between that of the human and Digital World, battling evil Applimon and equally as evil Human Tamers. We are lead to believe that this particular video game is the one of two that is set to be released on the 3DS through digital download only. During Bandai Namco Entertainment’s panel some time ago, it was announced that Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters would receive two separate Nintendo 3DS titles; one of which would be a download-only light RPG wherein which players would have to collect and scan physical Applimon tokens (sold in stores across Japan) into the game for them to be usable on their team. The other Nintendo 3DS title has, so far, remained unseen and is said to be more along the lines of a fully-fledged adventure RPG.

Whilst the Anime series is set to air across Japan this October, no release date has been mentioned regarding the Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters Nintendo 3DS game.
