Yes! Another tasty crossover title has just been announced for home consoles and, man, am I hoping it gets a release in the West. Nonetheless, news of it’s release is still exciting enough to write about so I hope it’ll make you excited just by reading about it. It was announced today that the formerly arcade-only brawler title ‘Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax’ will be getting a home console release sometime in the fourth quarter of 2014.
It has been set for a release on the PlayStation 3 and the PlayStation Vita with fans hoping this means it will have some level of cross-connectivity. The game is a collaboration title between Sega and Dengeki Bunko which, if you don’t know, is a Japanese light novel publisher famous for works like ‘Accel World’, ‘Black Bullet’ and ‘Durarara!!’. Remniscent of games like ‘Sunday vs Magazine’, which had lesser known Shonen characters throw down for ultimate supremacy, and ‘Jump Super Stars’, which had the more popular Shonen Jump series characters going head-to-head, ‘Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax’ will feature a roster of twelve characters accompanied by a bunch of support characters who can be paired up and put into action in whatever way you please.
With characters like Shizuo from ‘Durarara!!’ and Rentaro from ‘Black Bullet’, which was recently adapted into an Anime series, it’s hard not to get excited about the prospect of this game one day being released in the West. Japanese audiences are going crazy for this game and it’s obvious as to why. As mentioned above, this game was originally an arcade exclusive so it isn’t like Japanese audiences havn’t gotten a chance to play it but it’s always nice when a game of this caliber can be brought home to be enjoyed.
