Cast Announced for Live Action Attack on Titan Films

To act against a Titan…

Much earlier in the year, fans of a certain series featuring Titans of varying sizes were treated to a glimpse of just how terrifying these creatures would be in real life…along with how safe they would be if driving a Subaru Forester. In addition to tokusatsu effects guru Shinji Higuchi, the man behind said advertisement, Yusuke Watanabe and Tomohiro Machiyama have been announced as script writers. Said script will be supervised by the manga creator himself Hajime Isayama, who is said to have in mind a new story, fightening new enemy and, perhaps more importantly, new characters. This fact has served to quell the theories that the previously announced Haruma Miura would play Eren on the big screen. That being said, information regarding whom each actor will play has not been confirmed, so anything is possible at this point. The cast announced thus far is as follows:

  • Haruma Miura (Kimi No Todoke)
  • Hiroki Hasegawa (the upcoming live-action Jellyfish Princess, Why Don’t You Play in Hell)
  • Kiko Mizuhara (Norwegian Wood, Helter Skelter)
  • Kanata Hongō (Prince of Tennis, Nana 2)
  • Takahiro Miura (live-action Space Battleship Yamato)
  • Nanami Sakuraba (Twin Spica)
  • Satoru Matsuo (Thermae Romae )
  • Satomi Ishihara (No Longer Human, Sadako 3D)
  • Pierre Taki (Linda Linda Linda)
  • Jun Kunimura (Audition, Kill Bill)
  • Shu Watanabe (Kamen Rider OOO)
  • Ayame Misaki (Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters)
  • Rina Takeda (High Kick Girl)

Well there you have it, a whole bunch of actors set for roles that are as of yet unknown. How mysterious. But how will this story turn out? Will these new characters be as well received as those from the manga? Might the film focus on known characters and throw in a few new ones only?…Just how sturdy is the Subaru Forester?
