Australian Retailer EB Games To Premiere The Legend Of Zelda Trading Card Game

Most big franchises have their own TCG: MegaMan, Pokemon, Dragon Ball Z, Yo-Kai Watch, each of these fan-favorite franchises has their very own collectable Trading Card Game. The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess did feature it’s own Trading Card Game, but unfortunately it’s run was only short-lived. Excitingly, especially for those of you out there who are fans of the video game series, there’s going to be a new The Legend Of Zelda Trading Card Game that will feature more than just the contents of a single game: Revealed through Australian retailer EB Games’ online store; The Legend Of Zelda TCG will hit shelves on the 30th of June and will be sold in three different booster designs; one portraying Link, the other portraying Zelda, and the third portraying Ganondorf. EB Games has also listed a special edition Trading Cards Value Box which will contain four random booster pack, one random decal/tattoo, a poster, and one of three random metallic pins.

This Trading Card Game, which was first announced at the last New York Comic Con, hasn’t resurfaced until now thanks to EB Games’ listing which, oddly enough, seems to be the only one worldwide. Chances are that this game will indeed be made available across the globe, but for the moment it looks like Australia will be the first to receive it. While the TCG-loving community is quite large in Australia, I never would have imagined that it was sizeable enough for their to be a new game justifiably premiered here…though I’m glad it will be, being such a huge fan of Trading Card Games.

This series will feature eighty-five individual cards featuring characters and events that span across five of the more popular titles from the series: Ocarina Of Time, Majora’s Mask, Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, and A Link Between Worlds. As a part of the full eighty-five card list; twenty-three will be regular foil, and eight will be gold foil, with every booster accompanied by a tattoo or decal, of which there will be nine of one and twelve of the other respectively. As far as theme decks go, a staple for Trading Card Games, no specific information regarding such items has been revealed as of yet.

As of right now, all that has been revealed about the new Trading Card Game is what I have featured above. We know nothing about theme decks, which is an inevitability, we know nothing about the rule system or gameplay mechanics, we don’t even know, specifically, what cards will be featured as a part of the total eighty-five count…but I think that is what makes this whole thing so exciting. My hope, for you LOZ-lovers out there, is that this game can stands it’s ground against the multiple other successful Trading Card Games currently in circulation so that they will continue to release more expansions and you can continue playing for years to come…not like the MegaMan NT Warrior TCG.
