A Second Trailer Has Been Released For Upcoming Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters Game

While many Digimon fans from across the globe are busy attacking and defending the new multimedia project Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters, many of us are just glad that such an addition to the long-running series exists. Scroll through any comment section of any given article regarding the new Video Game or Anime and you will understand just how divisive Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters is. There’s a clear three-way split in the fandom; a third of which will attack it for either been too different or not different enough, another that will defend it tooth and nail regardless of the facts, and a final that is simply happy that the franchise has yet to perish in the shadow of more popular franchises like Pokemon and Yo-Kai Watch.

This particular piece of news goes out to the latter of the fanbase specifically: Bandai Namco Entertainment have released a brand-new full-length trailer for the upcoming Nintendo 3DS game, aptly titled Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters, that showcases many of it’s features, most of which have never been seen in previous Digimon handheld video game titles. Now, unfortunately I do not speak, read, or write in any Japanese language format so the intricate details of this trailer will be lost on you thanks to my inability to relay such information, but through watching the trailer alone you will get the gist of certain elements of the game.

The trailer focuses a great deal on the fusion mechanic that has you collect Appmon to then combine together, either making a single Appmon singularly stronger, or allowing for a deep fusion that will change it’s form entirely. This, if you are not aware, is the new cross-media project’s iteration of Digivolution. It also seems to details strengths and weaknesses in game, teaching audiences how to optimise their offensive tactics to take out enemies quickly before giving them a chance to retaliate; a great staple of any good RPG. In the past it was revealed that this game’s combat system would revolve around a deck-building mechanic that has players develop a deck of Appmon “Cards” that, unlike Trading Card Games, will not come into play as singular units but will work in combination to boost the abilities of the vanguard Appmon.

Out now in the Japanese Nintendo eShop is the demo for the game, titled “Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters Cyber Arena“, which takes the combat portion of the full release and allows players to enjoy it indefinitely. It was also revealed that the data you accumulate through playing through this demo can be transferred to the full title upon release, allowing you to utilise what you gained throughout the demo in your proper play through of the game’s events. Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters is set for a full release across Japan for the Nintendo 3DS on the 1st of December this year. As far as a Western release goes, we may never actually get it, but show Bandai Namco Entertainment how much you will support a localised version of the game and, who knows, our wish may be granted. Until then; enjoy the new trailer!
