It’s Time for Ninja Revenge! – FUNimation Licences “Ninja Slayer From Animation”

In their most recent burst of announcements, FUNimation has revealed that they have acquired the licencing rights for the upcoming “Ninja Slayer From Animation” anime. With animation to be produced by Studio Trigger (Kill la Kill), the series promises hectic visuals that hark back to the bygone era known to historians only as “the 90s”. Ninjas. Karate. Sushi. The dystopian cyber underworld of Neo-Saitama is ruled from the shadows by an intricate web of drugs, yakuza gangs, and evil syndicate ninjas wielding fearsome “karate.” In a sea of the blood of his enemies, a lone maverick stands. NINJA SLAYER is a ninja who kills other ninjas in the name of ninja vengeance. A former salaryman whose family was killed by evil ninjas, Ninja Slayer cheats death and casts away his past to embrace the dark, mystical NINJA SOUL, a mysterious spirit that grants him great power in his quest for revenge. But will this bloodthirsty spirit consume Ninja Slayer before his enemies are all “dead on departure?” Domo. I’m Ninja Slayer. Cast Ninja Slayer: Toshiyuki Morikawa …

The Champs Arrive – “Wanna be the Strongest in the World!” and “Ping Pong” English Dub Casts Announced

If you are an ardent watcher of anime, you may have heard of two particular sports based series that garnered some attention for their visuals. One, because of its unique and polarising style, and the other because of ladies…fighting each other. But regardless of what drew you in, or even if you were drawn in, FUNimation has announced that both “Wanna be the Strongest in the World” (the lady one) and “Ping Pong” (the quirky visual one) are both receiving an English dub. Better yet, they also announced who take part in said dub. So good news there. The eye-popping world of women’s professional wrestling is sweaty, sadistic, and savagely sexy. Famous Japanese pop idol Sakura Hagiwara is better suited for the dance floor than the wrestling ring, but this ravishing songstress is about to put her body to the ultimate test. When she and fellow idol Elena are assigned to pose as wrestlers for a very special show, a vicious lady brawler by the name of Rio decides to teach the girls a lesson …

The boys from SnapThirty – Frank (@FrankInglese), Luke (@LAHalliday), Kane (@KaneBugeja) and Jahan (@JahanKingKhan) – decide that it’s time they all take on the wild and sexy world of Dead Or Alive 5 Last Round. Watch as long-time fan Jahan takes the other three to school and teaches them never to mess with someone who’s not only good at fighting games but gets stronger the more turned on he gets. It’s weird, it’s strange but it’s great – It’s Dead Or Alive 5 Last Round Huge thanks to Mindscape Australia (Tecmo Koei) who provided us with the review copy we used to record this video. Final Thoughts: “Death Parade” – Life Isn’t A Game

It all started with a small project, a story about life and death being laid out onto the felt of a billiards table. That turner into so much more with the eventual beginning of the series we now call “Death Parade”. Knowing not what to expect besides the playing of bar games in contention for ones life, “Death Parade” immediately grasped the attention of audiences the world over not only wity the nature of its story but with the varying directions each episode followed. To say the very least…”Death Parade” was truly the stand out series of the season. In twelve episodes the series managed to introduce us to a pretty sizeable cast while detailing to us just why it is that we should like or hate them without being to overt or obvious about it. Every episode was wrapped in an air of mystery and you never truly knew who’s side you were on until the very last minutes but as those final moments rolled in it was finally made clear just who these …

Final Thoughts: “Tokyo Ghoul √A” – Remember Who I Am

“Tokyo Ghoul”, when it first started, wasn’t exactly my most favoured Anime series. Within one season all it seemed to accomplish was something I believe we, the greater pop culture audience, has seen countless times. It had a very well-rounded and structured foundation that was weakened by what I consider to be unnecessary plot points and developments. The first season left me wanting so much more from the series that people ranted and raved about. “Tokyo Ghoul” was an instant hit, especially with the Tumblr crowd, but it never piqued my interest in the same way it did many others. That is…until season two came along; “Tokyo Ghoul √A”. The first episode blew me away. It hit me so much harder than the entire first season did and I was left in a state of pure awe. Read about it here. What surprised me even more was that the rest of the season continued to get better and better. I can’t even think of an episode I was remotely upset with or bored by and, …

Puroresu Getting Some Spotlight During Wrestlemania Season

If I have to explain to you what Wrestlemania is then clearly you’re not from planet Earth. Whether you watch pro wrestling or not, Wrestlemania season has been causing pop culture shock waves since the 1980s. The 31st annual Wrestlemania will take place in a matter of days now, with plenty of festivities leading up to it, including the Hall of Fame Ceremony. While Wrestlemania is indeed an American (Western) pop culture extravaganza, this year is a little special because Japanese pro wrestling is getting some well deserved props. Not only do we have one of the hottest Japanese wrestlers performing at Wrestlemania, but the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will recognize and immortalize the legacy of one of the greatest Japanese performers in the history of professional wrestling. Let’s talk about the present and future right now: Hideo Itami. This Japanese grappling striker made his debut on NXT, WWE’s developmental program, and has quickly become a must see performer. Formerly known as Kenta, this man already has a well established repertoire in Japanese wrestling industry …

“Parasyte: Part One – The Invasion Begins” Hitting Aussie Cinemas This April

What perfect timing! As many of you may know; the recent Anime adaptation “Parasyte – The Maxim” has only just ended, and it came with quite a hefty lesson to be learnt about life, love and the fragility of existence. Hype around the series is at an all-time high; at this point in time everyone has watched the Anime and has seen how damn good it is, people will now be rushing to stores looking to purchase whatever they can of the Manga in the hopes that it is just as good as the Anime, and now people will be very much looking forward to the live-action movie. The first film in the series of “Parasyte” movies is titled “The Invasion Begins”n and opened in Japan on the 29th of November last year to an incredibly positive reception. Now Madman Entertainment are bringing that very movie to Aussie shores for one day only in April. More specifically; April the 26th. As of right now, no information regarding locations, times and ticket sales have been disclosed …

Final Thoughts: ‘Parasyte – The Maxim’ – A Modern Masterpiece

Poignant, contemplative, affecting and emotionally rewarding, Parasyte – The Maxim, officially concluded with its 24th episode this week. While many were left wondering how Parasyte would wrap things up after a very climactic penulimate episode it did so by solidifying itself as a modern masterpiece of the anime medium. After following this story over 24 episodes spread across six months, Parasyte has carved an emotional journey of a young boy into adulthood as he finds his way in a world so cruel. It is a transition all of us take as we ultimately lose our innocence and become adults and Parasyte conveys the angst and frustrations that come with that time in life with the deftest touch and a heaping helping of symbolism. While Parasyte obviously has bigger things on its mind, it is the underlying coming of age tale that makes Parasyte such a timeless story in spite of its source material being decades old. The bond formed between Shinichi and Migi is truly the crux of this coming of age story as Migi’s …

New “Naruto” Manga To Begin April 27th In Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump

I know, for a fact, that this is what all you “Naruto” fans out there have been waiting for ever since the ending of the Manga. We all know that “Naruto” will never die. That’s a fact, and anyone that can’t deal with it just needs to make a bigger effort to do so. No matter what your views are of the series, you can’t deny that there is indeed a justification behind its incredibly high popularity level. I’m sure it was all apart of our childhoods and most people that watched or read it when it first started have continued to do so up until this day. The Anime is currently running a filler arc which SHOULD return to the main story in the near future, “The Last: Naruto The Movie” was released a little bit ago and people absolutely loved it for some odd reason, and, as mentioned, the Manga has only recently just ended BUT there’s more in store for the “Naruto” franchise. Masashi Kishimoto, the creator of the series, has already …

Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires Review

For as long as there has been civilisation, there ha been conflict. In the strive for progress, humanity has always formed allegiance with those of similar mind, whilst simultaneously combating those who stand atop a clashing viewpoint. Admittedly, it is far from a perfect system, yet it is by far the most consistent fact of history. But, as they say, time heals all wounds, and as the clock turns our memories of the past fade. The gaming industry however takes this concept with a grain of salt and utilises these bygone eras for the sake of content. Is it right? That’s up for debate. Is it fun? That too works on a case by case basis, but we can all agree it’s a far more uplifting topic. Set in a chaotic era across the country of China, warriors of all creeds seek the same thing; power. The added benefit of which being uncontested control of an entire country. Anywho, with your position as game player, you are granted the helpful ability to choose which historical …

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD Review

So don your colour coded cape and dive headfirst into your studies, because they may well be the only thing that keeps you alive in a world at war. Welcome to Class Zero, the most prestigious group from the most prestigious (and perhaps only) learning facility in all of Orience. Toukiden: Kiwami – PlayStation 4 Review

People tend to look towards the Greeks for their rich and extensive mythology. A movie centered around the life and times of Herculese is actually quite common nowadays, but I really do think their are better mythological sources one can draw from. Whether or not people agree with me is something else entirely. I happen to be a huge fan of Japanese lore and legend. As a huge fan it’s obvious that I consider it to be more interesting and ultimately more exciting than than that of any other culture’s. Why is that though? This I can’t explain. All I can say for certain is that whenever I get a chance to experience something to do with it, I take it and I do my very best to absorb as much as I can from it. This is why when our friends at Mindscape Australia offered us a review copy of the new game “Toukiden: Kiwami”, I had to take it. “Toukiden: Kiwami” follows a very basic story with many character interactions that surprisingly result in …

Netflix Available In Australia, Now Another Source Of Legal Anime Streaming

Despite what Nexflix WANTS you to believe…it is a service that allows you to watch a great deal more than just “Orange Is The New Black”. The fantastic movie and series streaming service has only just hit Australian shores and at only a day in I’m sure most Australians with a good internet connection have signed up for their one month free trial. The first thing I did when I loaded it up on my PlayStation 4? I checked to see what Anime series’ are available to watch as a whole. The second thing I did was, once again, watch the final episode of “Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood”…the third thing I did was cry myself to sleep because, no matter what I do in life, it will never compare to the majesty of that series. Obviously there’s a lot more on Netflix than Anime, if anything, thew medium is greatly outnumbered by Western productions which is fine because, well, it’s only just now picking up a mainstream Western audience. It’s only natural. A lot of what you …

Hands-On With “Final Fantasy XV: Episode Duscae”

October, 2011 was when the original “Final Fantasy Type-0” was released on the PlayStation Portable over in Japan. That version of the highly sought-after video game was never released outside of the great country to the lamentation of all the fans who longed for the game with every fibre of their being. It’s now 2015 and that game has finally been released around the world on Sony’s next generation console the PlayStation 4. The new release of “Type-0” does differ from the original PlayStation Portable release in that it has been tweaked and changed to suit a more contemporary audience. This means better graphics, better gameplay and a better overall experience. Anyone reading this that hasn’t been keeping up with recent news would probably think that the release of this game would be the most exciting thing for “Final Fantasy” fans in the early months of 2015. If that’s what you do think, I hate to tell you but…you’re absolutely wrong. A certain special demo was provided with early purchases of the long-awaited game. This …

Rock Out To The First Preview Trailer For The Upcoming Anime Adaptation Of “One-Punch Man”

While the Anime adaptation of ONE and Yuusuke Murata’s “One-Punch Man” is still a little while away, the official website was updated today to now include that of the very first preview video for what is looking to be a standout series for whatever season it eventually becomes a part of. Backing up some incredible but quick action sequences is one hell of a rock track sure to get you fired up for the lunacy to come but, let’s be honest; if you’re not already into the “One-Punch Man” Manga chances are you aren’t going to be into this Anime. It’s a good place to start though! The preview trailer also announces a whole bunch of the staff member who’re set to work on this new project and the list is full of that sweet star power: You’ve got MADHOUSE animating the whole thing, you’ve got Shingo Natsume of “Space Dandy” fame directing it, on character design is Chikashi Kubota who you may know worked on series like “From The New World” and “Robotics;Notes”. This …

Giovanni’s Island – Review

The people of this generation live in a great time in human history. Yeah, there are wars and, yeah, real struggles are still a reality but, all things considered, our lives could be a lot worse than they already are. We live, day in and day out, with certain expectations. Most people consider themselves entitled to things they have earned, and we’re left always wanting more no matter what it is that we have. Luckily we have an older generation of men and woman whom, if you give them the time, will really put things into perspective for you. Not only that, there are films, books and all different types of media that can teach an individual about the time before their time and it’s only after absorbing that kind of information that, even for but a second, your existence gets put into perspective. It was “Giovanni’s Island” that provided me with clarity…even for just one night. Thanks to Madman Entertainment, I was given the chance to experience this masterful film and follow two young …

First Teaser Trailer Released For the Upcoming “Astro Boy” Reboot

There’s something you absolutely need to see before the day is done and it the very first teaser trailer for the upcoming “Astro Boy” Anime reboot. The official website for the new series has today been updated to include said teaser trailer and, without giving too much away, I must say that it is looking to be something wonderfully magical. This new series marks the coming together of three international studios; Tezuka Productions (Japan), Caribara Animation (France), and Shibuya Animation (Monaco), all for one purpose and that’s to create a brand-new “Astro Boy” Anime series for this generation to enjoy. The reboot will feature a new story that, while very much like the original “Astro Boy”, will be filled with things we’ve yet to see “Mighty Atom” do or experience. Despite being directed at young boys and girls between the ages of eight and twelve, I can see how this new series will, once again, capture the hearts and minds of the older fans of the long-running series. I, for one, am excited to see what this …

Three-Minute Promotional Video Released For “Gangsta” Anime Adaptation

While everyone’s busy thinking about how good the upcoming Spring Anime season is going to be, I’m occupied by thoughts of the coming Summer which will feature the debut of “Gangsta”; the crime-noir story based off of the Manga by famed rookie Mangaka Kohske. Two “Handymen”, Warrick and Nic, will do anything for a quick buck…anything. Living in the crime-ruled city of Ergastulum is hard for those who can’t wield a sword or fire a gun. Living in Ergastulum is hard for those who can’t bring themselves to take the life of another human being. Warrick and Nic are just two of the many citizens of this slum city that can…that must be why business is so good. With a gangland war on the horizon and no signs of escape from this wretched wasteland, the two gear up for what’s to come. Until now we’ve only had the privilege to see this in all its Manga glory but taking the action of “Gangsta” another step forward is that of the upcoming Anime series. Posted on the …

‘High School DxD New’ Review

When an anime begins with its protagonist waking up to boobs in the face, you know what you’re getting yourself into. With High School DxD, boobs to the face is essentially the name of the game and with its second season High School DxD New, the adventures of the would-be Harem King Issei Hyodou reach new levels of fan-service with just about every scene resulting in at least one full blown breast shot. So if that’s your kinda thing, you’re in for a raucous good time with this flat-out fun series, but if a bit of the ole ‘NSFW’ style of anime is not your cup of tea, this is probably the last thing you’d want to be watching. Regardless of all that High School DxD is one of the most enjoyable harem series ever produced and with its level of self awareness and over the top enthusiasm for its subject matter, it is hard not to fall head over heels into High School DxD’s buxom bosom. This second season picks up where we left …

Nintendo To Make Mobile Games with DeNA, Dollar Signs Appear Spontaneously In People’s Eyes

Gaming giant Nintendo have just announced a major partnership with mobile game company DeNA to bring Mario an all his colourful Nintendo pals to mobile devices in an upcoming line on Nintendo branded mobile games. This is a major step for Nintendo to be taking considering they have remained defiant in the past about developing for mobile devices considering it is somewhat of a competitor to their handheld platform the 3DS. Rather amazingly since the announcement that Nintendo would be join the mobile gaming craze, Nintendo’s stock has seen a dramatic rise of 32%. While it is likely attributed to the mobile games announcement, it should be noted that Nintendo simultaneously confirmed they are indeed working on a new home console, tentatively titled Nintendo NX. Well fancy that, hell hath frozen over. Nintendo is extending the olive branch and diving into some uncharted territory for the century old company. I think it is a pretty cool leap for Nintendo and I hope that it brings even more gamers into the wonderful world of Nintendo. -30-

Inio Asano’s ‘A Girl On The Shore’ Manga To Get English Release by Vertical

As a die hard fan of Inio Asano and his manga masterpieces such as What a Wonderful World! and Solanin, I can say with great certainty that manga fans in the West are in for quite a treat thanks to publishing house Vertical. Vertical have officially confirmed that they have acquired the license for A Girl On The Shore for a long awaited English release. It is no secret that I love Asano and his criminally overlooked works. It is truly heartwarming and genuinely exciting to see more of this incredible mangaka’s work getting an English language release considering that only 3 titles out of his impressive catalogue of work have been released in English to date. I think this is a good sign of things to come for Asano fans as more of his great work makes its way into our hands and hearts. No date has been set as of yet for A Girl On The Shore’s English release however a tentative early 2016 date appears to be slated for the title. Stay tuned Asano fans …

Allies At Arms: Is This Truly The End Of Kojima’s Run With Konami?

Over the past twenty four hours many news pieces have been peppered about the world wide web reporting on the “supposed” leaving of Hideo Kojima from long time video game development and producer partner Konami. Despite a great deal of information, though mostly vague, and many updates on the story…nobody has come to a clear conclusion. Depending on what publications you’re getting your news from, it’s either that this has been totally blown out of proportion or that Hideo Kojima is indeed severing ties with Konami and moving on with what seems like the next phase of his career. Truth be told…nobody knows the exact story. The only thing people DO know is that there is indeed some sort of civil unrest at Konami. That much is certain. Word is that there has been a bit of in-fighting for a while now and that it is mostly between Kojima’s personal team and that of Konami, this is obvious. To have it all boil down to the possible disbanding of Kojima Productions and the resignation of …

The latest issue of Shueisha’s V-Jump magazine happens to feature a new promotional image from the upcoming movie that shows the new designs for aforementioned monsters and their both looking damn fierce! Kill la Kill Volume 3 Review

The battle rages on! Last time we left Ryuko, she was smack bang in the middle of an all out battle royale, fighting to survive against for of the biggest bads to ever be classified high school students. Thus, without further adeui, let us rejoin the action and see just how our bombastic heroine intends to trump the Elite Four. With Gamagoori down for the count, Inumuta is the next in line to take on Ryuko for the glory of Hannouji Academy. Diverting from his comrades “punishment and retaliation” style of combat, this tech savvy fighter prefers to rely on strategy, data and a healthy dose of invisibility to best his foes. Typical smart guy stuff. Unfortunately for Inumuta, this is a series where bravado and intensity top smarts each and every time. Poor guy didn’t even stand a chance. Jakuzure on the other hand fended a little better, opting to utilise weaponry that wouldn’t be done justice if referred to as over the top. Said weaponry also jaunts cheerfully through the public domain, bringing …

Black Butler (Live Action) Review

Revenge. A source of motivation that has led countless people throughout history to commit any number of dubious action to see their fury quenched. Be it deception, violence or even forging their lives down an intended path, those wrought with feelings of vengeance rarely escape the prison they build for themselves. But what of those who lack the means to accomplish their goals? Whilst some may allow their desires to fall away, there are those who would enlist external help. Help from those who reside in a world separate from normal society, from those who forgo their humanity and dwell in a realm of darkness. For the first few years of her life, Shiori Genpo was just your average girl, who just so happened to be the daughter of one of the richest businessmen in the world (toymaking is a lucrative business apparently). However, her life was inextricably altered when her parent were shot before her very eyes. It was then that she promised revenge on those who destroyed her life, going so far as …

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD Finally Gets A Release After All this Time, Celebrate With A Launch Trailer

By now you should know everything you need to know about Square Enix’s “Final Fantasy Type-0 HD”. True fans of the the series would have already researched and discovered everything about the game many years ago when it was released over in Japan on the PlayStation Portable. Unfortunately that version of the game never made it out of the great country but now, in 2015, we’ve just been given a game that is, depending on who you ask, leagues better than its predecessor. Square Enix have now officially released the game across Australia and new Zealand with the North American release coming on the 20th which is only a day or two away depending on where you’re reading from. That doesn’t matter though because, to celebrate, Square Enix has released a launch trailer for the game titled “We Have Arrived” that, while it shows everything we’ve already seen, pretty much just rounds up what the game is going to be about. If you’re exited for “Type-0 HD” and live in Australia or New Zealand; you …

Log Horizon: Part One – Review

When I first heard of Animes like “.Hack”, many years ago, I was overwhelmed with an excitement that, to this day, has not been properly replicated. I never really had the follow through to actually watch the series but just hearing about a premise that revolves around the combination of video games and reality, as a young gamer, had me so inspired. Too bad all the creative energy that coursed through me in my younger years was never directed at anything of substance, but the feelings of adoration to such series’ has stuck with me even into my adult life. When I got the chance to review the Anime adaptation of “Sword Art Online” some time ago I thought I was in for quite a treat…too bad that series only proved to muddy up what was once such clean, drinkable water. Since then connection to the fantasy sub-genre has dwindled. I passed on watching “Log Horizon” during the time when it was getting a legal stream across the West simply because of my experience with …

The Time War Rages On – Dragon Ball XenoVerse Ships Over 1.5 Million Units

Just a little heads up for all you XenoVerse fans out there, if you’re currently enjoying taking to the DBZ timestream, you are not alone. In fact you’re amongst quite the large group, numbering somewhere over 1.5 million in fact. Can you imagine how many customisable characters that equates to? Probably a number directly proportional to the number of games sold now that I think about it… Masayuki Hirano (Game Producer, Bandai Namco Games) commented on this success, stating: “I would like to thank everyone for their support on this new challenge. We decided to take a risk and create a completely new concept to entertain our fans and Dragon Ball lovers and we are quite proud of the successful result! On a more personal note, I feel honoured to create a game around a licence as massive as Dragon Ball!On behalf of Bandai Namco Games: thanks for your amazing support! We will continue working and reaching new heights!” So there you have it, a Dragon Ball title that has quite a few people kicking butt all …

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD’s New Trailer Tells Us That Even In Death Your Legacy Lives On

We’re now only a couple days away from seeing the official release of Square Enix’s newest title “Final Fantasy Type-0 HD”; a game that has been waiting for a Western release ever since it came out years ago on the PlayStation Portable in the great country of Japan. Well, to celebrate the almost-release, Square Enix have released a brand new trailer wonderfully titled “Legacy Lives On”; something the “Final Fantasy” franchise is very much known for preaching. This new trailer shows audiences all of the elements seen in past “Final Fantasy” titles that are making a return in the new game. Things like older gameplay mechanics, familiar monsters and even Cid; a character mentioned or shown in every single “Final Fantasy” game, makes an appearance in this here trailer as well as, obviously, in the game itself. Square Enix have done a fantastic job at hyping the game up as much as possible and getting audiences ready for the majesty that will be “Final Fantasy Type-0 HD” and if you’re not yet convinced of just …

Naruto Shippuden’s New Chunin Exam Arc – A Justified Filler Or Just Another Stall Tactic?

It all started in chapter thirty four of the original “Naruto” Manga series. Before “Shippuden” was even close to being a reality, fans of the series followed the young Shinobi, Naruto, and his journey to becoming something more than a simple “nincompoop” with a bad attitude and an air of utter restlessness. It was during this stage of the little Ninja’s life that audiences were graced with an arc that, I believe, truly defines exactly what early chapters of “Naruto” were truly about. It showed each of the Konohagakure Ninjas – alongside some others from Sunagakure and the smaller Otogakure – in situations that tested them both physically and mentally while at the same time expressing to those reading their true personalities. Most fans of the series from this time, I’m sure, would have developed their loves for certain characters during this time whether or not they actually participated in the exams. It was during this arc that we were introduced to us the idea of brains over braun, it was where we got to see …

‘Naruto’ Creator Masashi Kishimoto Wins ‘Rookie Of The Year’ Award, Someone Needs To Look Up ‘Rookie’ In The Dictionary

Legendary mangaka Masashi Kishimoto is the man behind the global anime and manga sensation, Naruto. He started the Naruto manga in 1999 and now in 2015 he has been awarded the prestigious ‘Rookie Of The Year’ award for the series from the Japanese Government’s Agency of Cultural Affairs. Now I’m not quite sure how in the world Kishimoto could be considered a rookie of his chosen artform considering he is a 15 year plus veteran of the manga medium, but his eligibility for this award may be due to the fact that Naruto is actually his first and only completed work. So there you go. Regardless of all the controversy over whether Kishimoto should be considered a rookie or not, congratulations to the man who brought us Naruto on winning this fine award. Here’s looking at you, kid. -30-

‘Punch Line’ is an Anime Where The Fate of The World is Determined Upon Whether the Main Character Sees Panties Or Not

Punch Line is an upcoming anime from MAPPA studio set to premiere as part of the Spring 2015 anime season. So what exactly is so interesting about Punch Line despite the curious fact that it has nothing at all to do with jokes? Well the fate of the world hangs in the balance of whether the main character see panties or not. At least that is what the series tagline would have you believe. A new trailer for Punch Line has crash landed and boy oh boy is it something special. Half harem series and half action, Punch Line looks to be quite a bit of fun and something different for MAPPA studio. Shoko Nakagawa is set to perform the opening theme alongside Dempagumi.inc. Punch Line will join the noitaminA line-up on April 9th. Check out the trailer below to see the catastrophic power of panties. -30-

Gera Gera What?! Level-5 Announces Two New “Yo-Kai Watch” Games

Level-5, you know them; they’re the young Japanese video game developer famous for titles like “Attack Of The Friday Monsters” and “Fantasy Life”, as well as many other huge series’ like “Inazuma Eleven” and “Professor Layton”. They’re also the creators of the steamrolling monster-taming franchise “Yo-Kai Watch” which, in case you missed the news, is set to be heading to the West sometime by the end of this year or at the start of next year. Well Level-5, seemingly overnight, announced that there are two awesome additions to the small but powerful lineage of “Yo-Kai Watch” games; the first is simply titled…”Yo-Kai Watch 3″ and, as you may be able to tell, is the third instalment of the main series of games, whereas the other which is titled “Yo-Kai Watch: Busters” is an offshoot game that will feature co-op capabilities that outdo even the main titles. The new “Busters” title will feature four player co-op as well as some terrifyingly titanic bosses…”Monster Hunter”, anyone? “Yo-Kai Watch” has taken Japan by storm and, come next year, …

This New “Digimon Adventure Tri” Promotional Image Looks Oddly Familiar

We’re now in March; the third month of the new year. This means, in only a months time, the new season of “Digimon Adventure” will begin airing and long-time fans of the series will finally be able to catch up with their long lost friends; the original Digidestined. Just incase hype for this new addition to the already expansive “Digimon” lineage wasn’t already at an all-time high, a new official image from the upcoming Anime has surfaced just over the past couple days and what we’re seeing is all too familiar. To the right of this article, as I’m sure you already know, is the newly released promotional image from “Digimon Adventure Tri” which shows the main cast of the Anime just “hanging out” in and around an abandoned train car. This is not the first time we’ve seen something like this from the original Digi-crew, in fact, we’ve seen this train car quite a few times over the series and it only ever seems to get more decrepit. I suppose that’s what it is …

J-Stars Victory Vs + – Official English Website Now Live

We’re all very excited for the Western release of “J-Stars Victory Vs +”; it’s the game Anime fans the world over have been waiting for since the last Shonen crossover title “Jump Ultimate Stars” and even THAT never made it to local shores so you can probably imagine the high level of excitement long-time fans of “Naruto”, “Bleach”, “Dragon ball Z” and so many other series’ are. Well today Bandai namco games officially opened up the English website for the upcoming game and even though it going live didn’t come with some sort of specific release date for the game it did come with a trifecta of gameplay videos that, once again, show off some of your favorite heroes in action. Of the three videos released; one shows the legendary battle between Frieza and Goku from “Dragon Ball Z”, another shows an odd but aggressively awesome bout between Oga from “Beelzebub” and Taro Yamada from “Chinyuki”, and the final shows a smaller scale battle between Arale Norimake from “Dr. Slump” and Lucky Man from the …

Japan Is Hosting The Very First Amiibo-Only Super Smash Bros. Tournament

Do you remember, reader, there was a special little Amiibo that was put into an official Super Smash Bros. for Wii U tournament late last year that absolutely dominated most actual players it came across? You should, it was some pretty hefty news and wildly startling. Waveshine, the Fox Amiibo, made it all the way to the Losers Semi-Finals only to then be beaten by a clearly superior human play. Fact is; this little figurine fought in place of its owner and shocked the entire tournament by proving to be so much better than expected. I’m sure, if you’ve got an Amiibo, you’ve gone up against it and I’m sure, if you’ve levelled it up enough, you sometimes simply cannot stand a chance against it. If you think your Amiibo is unbeatable, which I’m sure some of you do, than pack all your stuff up and move yourself on over to Japan before the 14th of the month because the great country will be hosting the very first Amiibo-only Super Smash Bros. tournament. If there’s …

Keep Friends Close And Enemies Closer – “Lost Dimension” Is Headed To The West

The act of betrayal is as old as history itself. It dates all the way back to the time of Jesus Christ who was put to death thanks to the greedy nature of someone he considered quite a close friend. It’s no surprise that an act as dastardly as this has lasted so long and it seems as though the higher up the social ladder you climb the more likely it is to happen to you, or vice versa. The upcoming tactical RPG “Lost Dimension” knows about this all too well. Announced over night, this critically-acclaimed psychic-fueled title will be making it’s way across the pond to but the Americas and Europe alongside Australia and New Zealand. In the Americas, ATLUS will be handling the distribution but in Europe it will be NIS America who will be in charge. This interesting little title will have you fill the shoes of a psychic user who’s part of the team I mentioned just above. The crazy thing about this game that may eventually come to bite you …

The Four Ladies of the Apocalypse – Onechanbara Z2: Chaos Heads to Europe

Hordes of undead. Writhing masses of what were once human beings, out now only to feast on the brains of the living…or just maul them, or purposefully turn them, or whatever it is zombies do nowadays. Now that I think abot it, zombies are not exclusively of the dead variety nowadays, what with the advent of contagion plotlines and all. Look, what I’m getting at is that zombie apocalypses are frightening things and if there was one word you would never use to describe one, it would be sexy…at least I hope you wouldn’t. But, as it so often does, Japan has said nay to this preconception and has decided to enlighten the West with a little game known as Onechanbara Z2: Chaos. Prepare for some conflicting emotions people because these ladies take all common sense regarding appropriate apocalypse fashion and throw it out the window, leaving them with very little, which they then wear. Not content with merely standing out due to their risqué garb, the Bikini Zombie Squad deal out re-death in a …

Anime Month on Xbox One

March is a pretty big month for Xbox One, with the huge system update and the release of Ori and the Blind Forest… but wait this is Snap Thirty, what’s relevant here is that this month is Anime Month on Xbox Live. It seems that this is a very new and novel thing for the folks over at Microsoft, as they are introducing anime to the Xbox One crowd like it was invented last month. They have a special video titled “Understanding Anime 101”, so it looks like Microsoft really appreciates the general non-Otaku nature of the Call of Duty grizzled Xbox audience. There’s an episode of Sword Art Online available for free, a sale on Naruto Shippuden episodes, and a whole host of anime series like Attack on Titan, Dragon Ball Z, and several shows across the genres of Sci-fi & Mecha, Action & Shonen, and Drama & Fan Service (their categorization by the way). All content is part of the the Xbox Video service (let’s not forget, however, that Crunchyroll is on Xbox One). …

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD – PAX East Trailer Released

Anyone who knows anything about video games and the industry to which it belongs surely has heard of the amazing gaming convention known as PAX (Penny Arcade Expo). Those people aware of the event know that it is a mecca for pop culture fanatics the world over. Square Enix, a week away from releasing the much-anticipated “Final Fantasy Type-0 HD”, put together a trailer specifically for the crowds of PAX East which was held over the past weekend in Boston, Massachusetts. Crowds at the convention absolutely swooned over the new trailer and that lead Square Enix to release the same exact video online for us all to see. Simply titled the “PAX East Trailer”, the new video takes us, once again, into the world of the new game. Despite having seen most of the footage before, the trailer has still worked to raise hype ever higher and with only a week until release it has come at the very best time. Backing up the footage of “Type-0 HD” are a couple quick shots of the …

Swordplay, Spelunking and Shopping with Noctis – Final Fantasy XV: Episode Duscae Screenshots Revealed

The long awaited, the long anticipated, the long wanted Final Fantasy XV is drawing ever closer my friends (hence my use of triplicate statements that all mean exactly the same thing, I’m just that amped). That being said, it shall still be a while until we can get our hands on the full XV experience, thus we must tide ourselves over with Episode Duscae, a nifty little demo to be included with Day One purchases of Type-0 (available with both English and Japanese audio with English, French, German, Italian, Japanese or Spanish subtitles). So what are you waiting for? Shift your view slightly downwards and check out the screenshots that show our new protagonist (and friends) living it up on a road trip across country. Although their car is noticeably absent… -30-

First Thoughts: ‘Cyborg Roggy’ Manga – Why Roggy Why?

‘Cyborg Roggy’. I’ll let you soak in that name for a moment. Does that sound like a good manga to you? Does it sound like a manga on the level of all time greats such as One Piece, Naruto or Dragon Ball? I don’t know what it is but something about the name Cyborg Roggy makes me think it is destined for cancellation. Maybe because it is a terrible name that looks bad, sounds bad and is just plain silly to say out loud. Poor Roggy, we hardly knew thee. Set in a world where everyone started to transform themselves into cyborgs one day, Cyborg Roggy is a new Shonen Jump manga from newcomer Yu Miki. Now while I opened this article with some rather damning statements against Cyborg Roggy and its potential future as an ongoing serialized manga, I must give credit where it is due. Cyborg Roggy is unlike any other manga I have ever read in Shonen Jump, heck it is unique in the manga genre as a whole. It feels distinct …

“Attack On Titan” Domain Names Registered By Sony Pictures USA Could Indicate Western Film Production

“Attack On Titan”, despite hitting some seriously high levels of popularity about a year ago when the Anime adaptation was released, has not even come close to dipping in adoration thanks to the huge number of fans that simple cannot get enough of it. The level of fame this series has hit is not thanks to some kind of fluke. Despite the Manga having its many hiccups, the Anime series made up for what it lacked and solidified this survival story as one that will be remembered for many years to come. As any good series does, “Attack On Titan” spawned many off-shoots like video games and feature films. As of right now the series has four films on the way; two of which are compilations of scenes from the Anime and another two that are live-action Japanese productions. Here’s the thing; only just recently the American branch of Sony Pictures registered a whole bunch of domain names that could possibly mark the production of an Western feature film version of the very popular series. Though don’t take …

Bandai Releases A New Trailer For The Classic Digivice, Praise Jesmon!

You may not quite be aware but this year marks the 15th anniversary for the much-loved monster taming series “Digimon: Digital Monsters”. What started off as a range of combat-ready virtual pets developed specifically for young men has now become one of the world’s most well-known merchandising juggernauts second only to that of “Pokemon”, and I’m not even sure that’s entirely correct. Despite it’s drop off in popularity here in the West, “Digimon” has stayed in the hearts of all the fans that grew up with it and has continued to thrive over in it’s birthplace Japan. Fifteen years later, the pop culture world is preparing to celebrate the franchise’s many years of growth and prosperity. Bandai, the company behind “Digimon”, is very much leading those preparations by releasing a slew of new “Digimon-based” items as well as re-releasing some of the “classics”. One I’m sure you all know about is the original “Digivice” which has undergone a bit of an upgrade and is on the verge of a secondary release to contemporary audiences. Despite hearing of …

Dragon Ball XenoVerse Review

The good guys have won. Evil is vanquished and the citizens of the globe can return to an era of peace and tranquility. Unless of course a villain were to, oh I don’t know, travel throughout time and systematically erase our heroes’ victories from existence. That, my friends, would be a very bad day for justice. One we couldn’t stop… But what’s this? A mysterious warrior, born from a wish and empowered by a desire to see the new wrongs of the past rewritten, back to the story they love. That’s right, it’s us. The customisable, multi-existence that is the Dragon Ball Z fanbase, one that now has an avatar into the series. Summoned forth by Trunks himself, we are the newest recruit in the Time Patrol, a group of inter-chrono do-gooders who make sure history happens the way it should. Thus, we set forth to quash a divergent timeline in which Raditz survived, rid history of a Ginyu Force led by Vegeta of all people and even take on an angrier version of Buu…because …

Hands-On with Bladestorm: Nightmare

When marching headfirst into battle, there is one immutable fact that is known by warriors of all descriptions: one soldier does not an army make. Be they tacticians behind the front lines, or troops standing shoulder to shoulder, each individual requires assistance. But let’s focus on the grand scale conflicts for now, let’s focus on war. Labelled by history as the Hundred Year War, this drawn out clash saw England and France at each others throats. Why am I mentioning this particular conflict from the past you ask? Well that is because Bladestorm: Nightmare throws us headlong into this fight, already well into its excessive time span. In lieu of controlling any particular figure from either England or France, we are given nought but the title of Mercenary and a character creation menu. Thus we enter the fray as our possibly anachronistic, impossibly cool fighter. As they so often are, a tutorial is found at the beginning of this game, explaining the basics of how Bladestorm’s combat mechanic works. Rather than controlling you character singularly, …

Fists Up In The Air, People: The “One-Punch Man” Anime Adaptation has Officially Been Greenlit!

Here I thought this day would never come. People, surely you’ve heard of the comtemporary Manga series “One-Punch Man” right? You havn’t?! That’s insane! Well, “One-Punch Man” is a simple Shonen story that revolves around a B-Grade superhero that has the inhuman ability to destroy anyONE or anyTHING with a single punch. Despite having such an ability, he hasn’t quite made it into the Hollywood-like world of professional superheroism…but he’s on his way! Originally a web comic by amateur artist and writer “ONE”, “One-Punch Man” was picked up and adapted into a proper Manga in 2012 by well-known Shonen Jump royalty Yusuke Murata who you may know illustrated the series “Eyeshield 21”. It’s now 2015 and an Anime adaptation of the odd Manga has finally been greenlit for production. As of right now, there hasn’t been much of an information release. The only thing that has been announced is that there is going to be an adaptation, who will be spearheading this new series is so far unknown but word is that, come Anime Japan …

Hands-On With Toukiden: Kiwami

What is it that truly separates the monsters from those who hunt them? Some may say it is the power of humanity that only beings such as us humans posses. Others would say it lies in the level of restraint one has for ones enemy. An even smaller amount would say that if it looks like a monster than it’s probably a monster. Regardless, there are always heroes and there are always certain malevolent beings that need to be defeated. In “Toukiden: Kiwami” it is an army of Oni that push the valiant heroes to their absolute limits but you’ve got to think; if not for the ferocious beasts would there be no heroes? Thanks to Mindscape Australia and Tecmo Koei games we at SnapThirty were given the chance to preview the upcoming PlayStation 4 remake “Toukiden: Kiwami”, originally released on the PlayStation Vita as “Toukiden: The Age Of Demons”. Telling the same tale told in “The Age Of Demons”, “Kiwami” follows a small village located in an undisclosed and ancient region of Japan that has been …

Suikoden II Review

The original PlayStation was host to a cavalcade of unforgettable JRPG titles, from the colossal mainstream success of Final Fantasy VII to the quiet cult classics like Guardian’s Crusade and Azure Dreams, the console gave way to a booming era for the genre. One of the more relatively unknown JRPG series of that era was Suikoden, a chinese dynasty era influenced JRPG series that excelled through its powerful storytelling, massive yet memorable expansive cast of characters an tight gameplay mechanics that feel like turn-based RPG perfected. The series has quite the following among hardcore JRPG fans and until now has been a series that I have personally never had the privilege to give a go. Jumping straight into what many call the series best game, Suikoden II, I found myself filled with deep regret. Regret that I hadn’t played this game sooner. What struck me almost instantly about Suikoden II was that the game looks just as good today as it would have 15 years ago when it was originally released. The sprite models are gorgeously …

Rodea The Sky Soldier – Original Wii Came To Come Bundled With Wii U Version

This quite an odd but very much exciting addition to the upcoming release of NIS America’s “Rodea The Sky Soldier” that sees the Wii U game come paired with the original version designed specifically for the older Nintendo console the Wii. Yes, first-run copies of “Rodea The Sky Soldier” for the Wii U will be sold with a complementary version of the original game that, as NIS America states, is actually very much different from the version you’ll play on the newer Nintendo console. Players will be able to see the growth of the IP across the Wii and Wii U by being able to experience both version of the same game. What makes this even more exciting is that the Wii version was never released. Fantastically, this pairing has been announced for not only North America but for Europe as well! Usually this means it will also be made available across Australia and New Zealand but there’s been no confirmation on that as of yet so simply take this as educated speculation. “Rodea The …

Danganronpa 3 Is In Development…But You Won’t Be Seeing It For Quite Some Time

I woke up this morning feeling pretty happy. I went to bed early, I got a good sleep, I got up feeling refreshed, but something just wasn’t right. If anything, I was TOO happy and I needed to nip that in the bud before I got any happier. Thank the Lords above that this news came about because a little despair is exactly what I needed to bring back down to the level. Kodaka Kazutaka, while conversing with some very lucky people over at Polygon, revealed that the third “Danganronpa” video game is indeed in development but that a huge percentage of it is still very much in the early stages. As of right now, says Kazutaka, the game has yet to have been written but that’s what the team is working on presently. Fact is; “Danganronpa 3” IS coming…it will just be a while before we actually see it completed and released. That’s fine though, because all the good fans need to know is that it is indeed on the way. After the incredible …

Screw Poker! There’s A “Space Dandy” Collectible Card Game In The Works!

Cards are great. End of article. No! Cards are incredibly awesome, especially when they’re part of a collectable series wherein which you build a deck and duke it out with some of your friends! i’d like to think I can bounce around the ring with the best of them but usually when I think something of myself it’s actually the opposite. We all love “Yu-Gi-Oh!”, we all love “Cardfight Vanguard!!”, we all love “Weiss Schwarz”, but you can but your old decks in the bin for all I care because Seven Seas have just branched out into tabletop game creation with the CCG they’ve just announced through KickStarter; the “Space Dandy CCG”. The company is well-known for publishing both Anime and Manga alike but now they’re tackling a new titan and it comes in the form of a collectible card game. A KickStarted campaign was set up not nine hours ago to raise a measly $12,000…I say “measly” because, already, they goal has been met with the total as of writing this article sitting at …

Madman Entertainment Presents: The Collected Works Of Hayao Miyazaki

It’s amazing how much Hayao Miyazaki comes up in my everyday life, even when I’m not talking to other Anime fans. Maybe I’m wearing a shirt that says “Miyazaki” on the back and an elderly family member questions who or what the heck that is or means. My usual explanation starts by asking the questioner if they’re aware of Walt Disney. When they naturally say “yes” I then follow up with; “he’s like the Walt Disney of Japan” and I don’t think I’m entirely wrong. Much like ol’ Walt, Hayao Miyazaki is a man who’s captured the hearts and minds of people the world over for quite some time. Now that he’s in retirement, there’s no better time for Madman Entertainment to announce their upcoming Studio Ghibli-centric release titled “The Collected Works Of Hayao Miyazaki” which, as you can probably already tell, is a boxset of films that span the mighty mans entire career. Madman Entertainment, who’ve release all of Studio Ghibli’s films, are now putting them all together for one huge release that’ll have …

Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late – Review

As far back as I can remember, I’ve always been a fan of fighting video games. I may not be as well-versed as i once was but games like “Bloody Roar: Primal Fury”, “Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max” and “Melty Blood Act Cadenza”. Despite how hard these games were for me to beat I played day in and day out. After a few years of this I considered myself one hell of an virtual fighter but the coming of the internet and things like more accessible network play quickly taught me that no matter how good I was…there was always someone better, and for the longest time I stopped buying fighting titles. Every once in a while I’d hit up an arcade, try out some “Tekken” or “Street Fighter”, but that was the extent of my interest in the genre. In more recent years I’ve somewhat gotten back into the groove so when NIS America announced they were bringing “Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late”, I thought I owed it to my former self to give arcade-style …

New ‘Dragon Ball Z’ Movie Revives Most Evil Person Ever, Also They Are Gold Now

Cha-la head is gold-la, cha-la Frieza’s evil-la. That’s right Dragon Ball maniacs, the Z Fighters are back in action with the latest Dragon Ball Z movie, Dragon Ball Z: Revival of F (the F referring to Frieza, not to be confused with my younger, stronger, cooler and better Dragon Ball Xenoverse character FROZED). This movie is particularly of note due to the fact that the most evil villain ever in Dragon Ball is revived by the Dragon Balls and this time this isn’t even Frieza’s final form. In fact, Frieza got gold now. The movie is set to hit Japanese theaters next month and will feature the long awaited return of Frieza as Goku and friends must battle it out in the final ultimate clash in Dragon Ball history, until Dragon Ball GT happened and they had that fight with Android 17 again. Also I heard that Dragon Ball AF is happening soon, trust me my friend told me that his cousin’s uncle works at Toei Animation and knows Akira Toriyama the creator of Dragon …

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate – Review

It all started back in 2004. That year the Earth was introduced to a brand-new threat, one that could prove detrimental to the enjoyable existence of human beings but one that is a necessity for it’s survival. The first Monster Hunter game hit the PlayStation 2 with one hell of a bang and ever since then it’s only grown more and more popular. It’s one of those video games that people love to hate. Much like Dark Souls, Monster Hunter pushed gamers to their limits as they blazed their own trail through a world overrun with deadly wildlife. With a simple story and some incredibly deep gameplay mechanics, Monster Hunter quickly grew to be a series loved by people around the world. You, the player, fill the shoes of a rookie Hunter trying to make their way in a dangerous world. While dangerous creatures roam every forest, every canyon and every swamp, life goes on. It has to. Industry must continue to prosper, people must continue to live and hunters, well…they must continue to hunt. The …

The Ambition of Oda Nobuna Review

History is what it is. The Past. A stepping block that led to the present…a bunch of old stuff. Call it what you will, it is an unchangeable facet of existence. I mean, it’s not like anyone can time travel or anything…wait, one guy did? Ok fine, but it’s not like he has a near encyclopaedic knowledge of the time period he was sent to or anything…he does…well, what do you know. Even still, who would dare risk change the past with their knowledge? Him. Ok, you know what, I’m just going to stop asking questions at this point. History is what it is…but that doesn’t mean it can’t be changed. As the history books tell us, the Sengoku Period was a time of turmoil, headed by numerous clan leaders who fought for their self believed right to rule the entirety of Japan. Hardened warriors who used all of their cunning, skill and power to lead their armies through the battlefields. That being said, I don’t think the history books ever mentioned the fact that these …

Japanese Release Date Announced For “Psycho-Pass: Mandatory Happiness”

“Psycho-Pass” is a fantastically huge series that, over time, has built up one hell of a following. Despite the second season of the Anime being developed by a brand-new team and despite how little people the world over have been enjoying it, it’s still one of the more highly-revered dark science-fiction stories of more recent times. With a movie on the way written by the man who made the first series as good as it was, Gen Urobuchi, and a constant stream of merchandise being developed and released month after month, it’s only natural that this series would eventually spawn a video game. “Psycho-Pass: Mandatory Happiness” is the name of that particular video game and it is, in fact, the first ever home console video game based on the series to be developed. What’s strange about this game is that it’s coming out exclusively on the Xbox One; a system that is well-known for being…less than sought after in Japan. “Mandatory Happiness” is being developed by the Visual Novel juggernaut 5pb. which is known for title like …

Snap Play: “Advance Wars” Episode 06

The “Little Busters!” line of VNs have been around since early 2007 and has only continued to expand. The latest Anime adaptation to be released is this one right here; “Little Busters!: Refrain” and thanks to Hanabee Entertainment I’ve been given the chance to experience the end of a series that began with the coming together of friends and finished with a …
