Every once in a while, Comcept and Inti Creates give the world an update on the progress of the upcoming side-scrolling adventure title “Mighty No.9” which you’d know, unless you’ve been living under a rock, is a new game that will surely be seen as the “Megaman” of the new generation.
At least, that’s the way it has been coming across. Like any project backed by a Kickstarter campaign, when an update on the development process comes around you always hope what’s shown is some actual progress. With “Mighty No.9”, though updates are scattered, everytime we see one there’s always something exciting and new for the world to sink its teeth into, and that really is the sign of a great development company.
Though with Keiji Inafune at the head…it’s no real surprise that the game is coming along nicely. The latest update is pretty simple: It’s a few screenshots of a single stage that somewhat reminds me of the beginning of “Megaman X”. Those of you who played it will know what it is that I mean. It is the “Mighty No. 7” stage wherein which players will have to dodge cars as they dash through the rain only, at the end, to confront No. 7 who’s attack style is said to be a little strange.
Instead of going directly for you, Beck, No. 7 attacks just in front of you sort of like a “shoot where he’s going to be, not where he already is” tactic. No. 7, as you may remember, is the reddest of the enemy robots and the one that was clearly inspired by Protoman with just a hint of “Sharknife”. Though I’m not so sure Mr. Inafune knows of Corey Lewis’ comic book work.
Right now, “Mighty No.9” is in the process of being ported to all the different consoles. Right now there’s no real release date but it has been said in the past that 2015 is the year “Mighty No. 9” is most likely to get a release. Let’s just hope it isn’t pushed back.
